Try and... come to your senses, alright?
Who: Jaina and Neena
What: Heavy flirting
When: Valentine's Day Plot
Where: Neena's bar
Status: complete
Rating: PG-13
While Jaina had no particular attachment to any specific bar, something had drawn her to the Inferno. She was pretty sure it was the owner. Neena’s pale skin, those lips and cheeks wthat she wanted to trace for hours. The shape of her ass was really nice to look at too. Jaina sighed, resting her chin on her hands.
Neena wondered what the hell was up with today. It was Valentine's day, and that was normally a day for lovers. Where her and Yondu even a thing? Was she supposed to get him a card or something? Maybe text him? She had zero idea what she was even doing. And then there was the added complication of it being Valentine's day at a bar.
Plenty of people had hit on her wait staff appropriately or inappropriately, she'd had to call the cops once, someone had gone all obsessively in love with their own reflection, and now the lady who'd insulted her tequila was sitting at her bar, sighing and not drinking anything.
"So... were you gonna order something, or what?"
“How about a tall glass of you?” Jaina asked, then clapped a hand over her mouth. Oh, whatever, just go with it. “And whiskey, your whiskey is amazing.”
"The last person that asked for that got tasered," Neena replied, rolling her eyes skyward. Still, Jaina was going to be a paying customer after all, so she went ahead and got her a nice glass of whiskey. The good stuff, of course. She was feeling gracious. "Here you go. Try not to get too drunk today, okay? You sound like you already got started early. And you better not say you got started at Logan's place drinking his tequila."
“This is my first drink.” Jaina had a dreamy note to her voice, and expression on her face. LIke Neena was the sole focus of her heart and hear attention, and she was.
“I’m just … enjoying the connection we have.”
"Considering it's 1 in the afternoon, that's probably a good thing." Neena grumped, and then double taked as Jaina mentioned their mysterious connection. "What the fuck. What connection? I called you a cab once, and you didn't even want to get into the thing. You insulted my tequila! You called me an alcoholic!"
“All mistakes,” Jaina assured her. “You’re pale beauty is like the moon. For in your light I dream, as evening takes my hand.” She pressed her hand to her chest, giving Jaina the most mooney-eyed moon eyes to ever moon eyed.
They were almost impressive. Neena thought back to her reaction to Aria - in either form, Human OR Asari - and then took another look at Jaina. Sure, she was conventionally pretty. There was something about her. But she was taken, or at least... kind of taken? Dating someone? What was even the modern slang for their situation? Whatever.
"That's... yeaaaaaaaah, I'm about to cut you off. Look, I'm flattered, but I don't even swing that way. At least, not to my knowledge."
Jaina unbuttoned her top two buttons, leaning forward. If poetry didn’t work, then maybe she needed to pull out all the stops, and she knew she had an impressive rack. In a pretty passably sultry voice, she said, “I can be convincing.”
"Uh..." Neena blinked down at the cleavage, realising that it didn't have to be blue or belong to a blue haired woman to do something to her. But there was still Yondu, and Jaina was still obviously not in her right mind. Those were two very convincing arguments for why it was Jaina still didn't stand a chance.
She coughed, "Yeah, no. Nope. I don't know what's going on here but i'm just gonna assume it's another day of Orange County being Orange County."
“I’m not sure I understand,” Jaina said, a little huffily and a little frustrated. Why didn’t Neena return her affections? What did she do wrong? Was something wrong with her? Did she need more poetry?
More poetry.
“Silently I find my thoughts illumined by your beauty. In soft shimmers of dancing silhouettes
and patterns allowing far away breaths to sigh.”
"Wow, I am just... so not a poetry girl." Neena replied, shaking her head. "Nice verses there lady, but please, just stop. You seem like a really smart woman so I’m sure you understand the definition of ‘barking up the wrong tree’."
Jaina frowned, then shook her head. Maybe Neena just wasn’t in the mood today? That was okay. When she wasn’t looking she snatched her number from her phone. “I guess I’ll just..finish my drink?”
"Yeah, finish your drink. And then have another, or don't. I don't care, just stop flirting with me." Neena replied, her tone quite a bit grumpy. Thankfully, when she snatched her phone back and went to check her messages, she noticed that Yondu was in distress.
It was the perfect moment to escape all of this nonsense, and she held up her phone. "Actually, I gotta go. Try and... come to your senses, alright?"
“I love you!” Jaina called out. She wasn’t sure if Neena heard her.
