Who: Myrcella and Tyler
What: Celebrating an engagement
Where: Myrcella’s house
When: Mid January
Rating: Low/None
Status: Complete
Tyler had mixed feelings about both Jeremy and Stefan getting engaged during Christmas. For the most part, he was happy for both of them. But there was also a small part of him that resented them for it, as if it was somehow their fault that he’d set back his relationship with Blossom when he’d left town. He knew it was unreasonable, and so, for the most part, he ignored that voice in his head.
No matter how he felt about it though, the fact of the matter was that Jeremy was one of his best friends. Possibly his best friend. And he didn’t really know Myrcella that well. If she and Jeremy were going to be getting married, Tyler should probably make a point of becoming friends with Myrcella outside of their relationships with Jeremy.
And so, with a congratulatory bottle of wine tucked under his arm, Tyler knocked on the door of the house Myrcella shared with Jeremy.
Myrcella had been extremely surprised when Jeremy had proposed, surprised but happy of course. It wasn’t something they’d discussed other than agreeing they both wanted to at some point so the fact he’d not only proposed but also asked her parents beforehand was pretty impressive.
She was doing some paperwork in the kitchen when the knock came at the door so she pushed it to one side and went to answer it. “Tyler, it’s nice to see you. I’m afraid Jeremy isn’t here right now” she said apologetically, she didn’t know Jeremy’s friend very well but he seemed nice from what she did know.
Tyler was a little disappointed that Jeremy wasn’t there, but in the end it didn’t change his purpose for coming here. “Well, are you free?” he asked, and then held up the bottle of wine. “It’d be a shame if this wine went to waste, and I thought we could get to know each other a little better.”
“Oh, that would be lovely” Myrcella said with a bright smile, stepping back from the door so he could enter. “You’ll be saving me from drowning in paperwork” she told him with a grin, “Come on through, I’ll grab some glasses from the kitchen and then we can sit in the living room”
“Always happy to help,” Tyler grinned. He was glad that Jeremy had already invited him into the house when he crossed the threshold. He assumed Jeremy told Myrcella all about the dreams, but even still, the ‘you need to invite me in’ conversation was always awkward. He made his way to the living room and took a seat on the couch.
Jeremy definitely shared his dreams with Myrcella but she had to admit it wasn’t something she tended to think about all of the time. She would have course have been very apologetic had Tyler not already received an invite in and of course asking him in herself. She grabbed glasses and brought them through to the living room, “How are you?” she asked him with a smile as she sat down.
“I’m good,” Tyler said, which wasn’t a lie but also not entirely true. But this wasn’t the time to get into it. For now it was just time to have some drinks with his friend’s fiance. He opened the bottle of wine, and poured them each a glass. “Not as good as you I bet. How’s the engaged life treating you?”
“Thank you” she said when he poured for them, smiling brightly when he spoke, “Very well so far. I’ve had no end of compliments on the ring and enquiries about the date from my clients. But we’ve not discussed the details yet, we’re going to enjoy being engaged for a while first”
“That’s the way to do it. No point in getting all stressed out over a wedding without enjoying the engagement part of things first,” he said. “So, are you going to show me the ring?”
“Exactly. That’s what we think too” she smiled before blushing a little and nodding, “Of course” she held out her hand so he could see the ring. It was perfect and she loved wearing it, though when she did massages and facials she put it on a chain.
Tyler took her hand and looked at the ring. “Nice,” he said, looking at it. Someday, he’d put a ring on Blossom’s finger too. “You and Jeremy have been awesome together. You’ll be an epic married couple.”
“Thank you Tyler, that means a lot” Myrcella said with a happy smile, “He makes me very happy and I couldn’t imagine life without him” she told him honestly.
“Well, that’s a good sign that you shouldn’t have to,” he said. He was glad that she seemed as in love with Jeremy as Jeremy seemed with her. It was good to see his friends happy, and so different from the dreams where it seemed that everyone’s happiness was ripped from them as soon as they found it. Jeremy definitely deserved more than what the dreams had given him.
“And of course we have amazing friends too. That’s important to us both. It means the world to have your support” Because that, for her, was very different from her dreams. She was glad both she and Jeremy had gotten luckier than their dream counterparts and she was determined to keep it that way.
“Of course,” Tyler said, grinning. “Well then, here’s to you and Jeremy,” he said, raising his wine glass. “And the long, happy lives you’ll have together.”
“I’ll happily drink to that” Myrcella said as she clinked her glass to his, “Thank you” she smiled brightly.
