If there was one thing Lexi looked forward to this time of year, it was the snow. Up until a few years ago, snow in Orange County was something she never would have expected, but now it was a normal occurrence for the month of December and she would be surprised if it didn’t actually happen.
Tonight there was a light snowflakes landing in her long blond hair as she walked towards one of her favorite bars. She had spent the afternoon decorating and doing other holiday things with her roomies and now she was planning on having a couple of drinks.
Reaching the bar, she unzipped her leather jacket as she stepped inside and loosened her scarf a little before heading towards the bar.
Niklaus wasn’t a fan of the snow. California was supposed to be warm and sunny. Even in the winter. That was what he remembered from his time here as a child as well. But apparently it snowed now. No one else seemed all that phased by it, but for Klaus? It was off putting.
He decided to escape the snow in a bar. Of course he was using a bar to escape a lot of things these days. Walking inside he spotted a familiar blonde and made his way over to her. “Well, if it isn’t Lexi Branson,” Klaus said while signalling for the bartender at the same time.
Hearing Klaus’ voice, Lexi turned towards it, smirking, “Hello, Klaus Mikaelson.” Not many people called her by her full name the way Klaus did, but she didn’t mind it in the least, “What brings you out here on this snowy night?” It still felt a little strange for it to snow in California, but Lexi enjoyed it.
“A drink of course,” Klaus replied with a smirk. “And now it seems I have good company to go with it. Let me buy you a drink.” With that he turned his attention to the bartender. “Bourbon, neat. And whatever the lady wants.”
Well Lexi would never turn down a free drink, at least not from someone she liked. “Why thank you,” Smiling, she turned to the bartender and ordered a vodka sour. “So, what do you think of this weather?” She turned back to Klaus and leaned against the bar as the bartender got to work on their drinks. Klaus had been away for some time and while it was probable that he’d heard about the random snow that they now got one month out of the year, she was sure that this was his first time experiencing it.
Klaus hadn’t thought much about the weather. Just merely wrote it off as something else that happened in this place. However, before he could say it to Lexi, he found himself compelled to kiss her. So he did. He reached his hand placing it on the side of her face and tilting it toward him before crashing his lips into hers.
Any other time, if some guy tried to kiss her out of the blue, Lexi would have slapped them then probably compelled them to do something embarrassing, but she too felt the sudden, strong urge to kiss Klaus and as his mouth met hers, she returned the kiss, leaning into his body as she did so, her boots making them the same height, making it all easier and more comfortable.
The kiss ended and Klaus stepped back. He hadn’t been expecting that, not that he was complaining. It just hadn’t been planned. Even in the moment before it seemed to just happen. “That’s certainly one way to start the evening, love.”
As the kiss ended, Lexi couldn’t help but smirk, bringing her hand up to run the tips of her fingers along her bottom lip as she watched Klaus, “You can say that again.” Were it not for the fact that this had happened to her before, the year before when her and Stefan had been compelled to kiss, she would have been wondering what this all meant. Part of her wanted to look around for the mistletoe that, undoubtedly, had caused this spontaneous kiss, but she knew that by now it would it have vanished.
The bartender brought their drinks over. Klaus raised his in a mock toast. “Here’s to an intriguing evening, love.” Perhaps with more kissing. Although that first one had been unexpected, Niklaus certainly wouldn’t be opposed.
Lexi lifted her glass as well, still smirking, “To an intriguing night.” She would probably explain the evil mistletoe thing to Klaus later, but for now she was going to enjoy his company and if more kissing, this time non compelled, happened then so be it. After all, she’d be lying if she said she had never thought about it in the past.
