Who: Blossom & Nora Where: The pier When: Backdated to Early October, on a Friday at noon What: Funnel Cake WITH Ice Cream!
Nora was super excited to hang out with Blossom again! She had some pocket money, too--working for Kanan and her boomin’ vlog business meant that she had money for the first time ever. Most of it went to hers and Ren’s household expenses; rent, food, electricity, cable… but then the rest she could spend on whatever she wanted! Hence funnel cake.
She arrived a little early, and stood around watching a street performer juggling while she waited for Blossom to arrive.
Blossom was good at making friends, she could list it as a skill if it wasn’t something people would raise their eyebrows at. But she was excited to hang out with Nora some more, get to know the girl aside from just directing her through campus. There was so much more to Orange County after all. Find her where they’d arranged to meet, Blossom tied her red hair back before calling on Nora, “Hey, Nora!” She didn’t care if she attracted other attention, waving her arm at the girl as she approached, because Blossom was just that way that anyone could really stare at her and she took it in stride.
Nora turned at the sound of her name and smiled at her friend. “Hey, Blossom!” Blossom was like, the coolest name ever, really. Nora liked that Blossom had a can-do and take-charge attitude. She was lucky to have bumped into her that one day on campus, and their friendship was sure to (no pun intended) blossom.
“Hey!” She repeated, waving her hand. “I was just watching the street juggling. I could never be that coordinated,” she added, in amazement at what the man could do with a handful of small bean bags.
“They’re just so talented, aren’t they?” Blossom was sure there was so much work put into perfecting those sorts of street shows, and the amount of practice would likely be surprising to some people. “I’d drop them so many times.” She gave a quick laugh, her smile bright and honest.
“Do you want to stay and watch, or go grab some food?”
“Um, I believe I was promised funnel cake with ice cream,” Nora told her friend in a teasing tone. “Forget the jugglers!” When there was funnel cake and ice cream? Who would ever choose a street show over that? “Where should we go?” She asked, turning to walk with her friend away from the performance. Blossom giggled a little as they moved away from the show at the side, “There’s a great place just up here, it’s super cute and they have the best cake.” Although Blossom would say that anywhere she tried had the best something,
“OhmyGodIlovecake!” The way Nora said it it sounded as if the whole sentence was one long word. A very enthusiastic word. Nora was kinda like that: a little hyper, a little over-enthusiastic. She bounced along beside Blossom. “So!! How’s school?”
It was a really good thing that Blossom had grown up with Bubbles, because the hyper she could handle. She understood just being a lot passionate about things, and having so much energy, she didn’t judge how that happened to come out and was able to deal with any kind of exuberance with it.
“School’s good, I’m TA for a class, so that’s really fun. And I had to cut down, but I’m still feeling like I’m keeping busy.” Because Blossom liked to still have plenty to do, even with the few hours to herself, with Tyler around it wasn’t so bad and she wasn’t fighting to keep busy. “What about you? How’ve you been?”
“That’s good! Busy is good! That’s what I always say.” Nora paused for a beat, looking a little confused. “Well, I’m not sure if I always say it, but it’s certainly true!” Then she gave Blossom a smile again. “I’ve been working on my blog, and I got a job shopping and running errands for a really wonderful, blind man named Kanan.”
Busy was good, always saying it or not. And Blossom liked to keep herself busy -not to the point of exhaustion and not being able to see her friends and family, but definitely busy enough to fill days and not have too much idle time. “Oh, that’s great!” Blogs were all the thing these days, and she was sure with Nora’s personality and enthusiasm, she could really make a blog work. “I’m sure Mr Kanan appreciates your skills too. What’s your blog about? You’ll need to give me a link, I’ll have to keep track of it.”
“I’ll definitely send you a link!” Nora said, bouncing as they walked along side by side. “I do a lot of different things. Mostly reviews, though I post some social commentaries, too, and basically every video game I play.” Lots of the free ones, because Nora couldn’t really afford to do the expensive ones, or the pay-by-the-month kind. But she was pretty great with the computer and could make her own levels on those free games online. Then she would trade with other people and make videos, and all kinds of fun things. Then she brightened considerably, with a gasp that lit up her whole face. “You and I could make a video together! You could talk about school stuff!!”
The vlog and blog business was really starting to take off, and Blossom could definitely see Nora being able to use that to launch a career if she could; she seemed to be just the right personality for it after all. “That sounds so wonderful, I can’t wait to see it.” Because Blossom would do anything she could to offer support to a new friend and what they were attempting to do. “That would be so fun! We definitely should.” Even guest appearances.
