Who: Klaus & Rose What: Catching up When: Tuesday Where: Baxter’s Rating: Low Status: Complete!
Rose had been relieved when she had heard from Klaus. She had debated on reaching out to him in the first place, but she had come to enjoy his visits. They were more frequent, so much so she would be able to have his coffee and pastry waiting for when he walked through the door. She wasn’t sure if the visits were because of the service or herself, but she wasn’t going to argue either way. His cool demeanor when they had first met started to melt away with each visit and she had come to think of him as a friend.
When his visits had surpassed a week, she had begun to worry. As she had told him through the text, you couldn’t be too careful in this area.
But he was coming to see her today and she had everything all set up for him. She was on her break when he walked through the door and she smiled, waving her hand so he’d see her. “You live!” She gave him a teasing smile, pushing his cup of coffee towards him. “It better be a good excuse for going MIA mate.”
Klaus hadn’t even realized how long it had been since the last time he saw Rose. He had been enjoying his new found power. Not giving much thought to anyone or anything. Not even his family. All he cared about was having a good time. But when Rose reached out he realized it had been awhile and he should probably check in. He’d hate to worry the beautiful barista that baked him scones.
When he entered the bakery he spotted Rose at a table with his usual coffee and scone already waiting for him. “Did I catch you on break, love?” he asked taking the seat across from her. However, her next comment just made him smirk. If you called become a vampire/werewolf hybrid and going on a murder spree a good excuse, then yes Klaus had one. However, he didn’t think Rose would appreciate hearing that. Not to mention he didn’t trust her enough to tell her what he was. “I just had some matters to attend to,” he finally commented taking a sip of his coffee. “My apologies for worrying you.”
“Yeah, perfect timing. A good step towards making up for your sudden disappearance.” She gave him a teasing grin, not really as upset as she was letting on. They hadn’t quite gotten to that level of friendship, but she had still enjoyed that he had responded back. As they had talked about earlier, you couldn’t be too sure with strange disappearances around the OC.
She took a sip of her own tea, raising an eyebrow to his vague answer. She didn’t push however, shaking her head at his apology. “At least you’re alright. I had to eat all your pastries for you though. Spent more nights at the gym than I would have liked.” She made a face as that was not one of Rose’s favorite past times.
“But things are alright with ya now? I’ll be able to see the gorgeous mug more often?”
Klaus could tell Rose was joking. However, even if she wasn’t he still wouldn’t feel guilty at the whole disappearing thing. No, the hybrid had not turned off his humanity, he just didn’t give a shit about much at the moment. Even almost friends he made before turning. He was a selfish bastard that way, only caring about himself. But he could still turn on the charm, especially when beautiful blondes were around. “Just a step?” he questioned with a raised brow. “What if I buy you a drink after your shift? How many steps would that get me?”
“I’m sure you don’t need the extra gym time, love,” he commented that smirk back on her face. “But I apologize for imposing my pastries on you,” he said it lightly, still joking.
Things were truly better than alright. Although he doubted his family would agree. But Klaus loved being a hybrid. Love his power. However, not something to share with Rose. “Now that I know you missed me so much,” he teased. “I’ll make it a point to come around more.”
Rose pretended to think on it, placing a finger to her chin in deep thought. “At least two more steps. But it’s definitely a step in the right direction!” Rose grinned, but it turned to a grimace...even that pun was too much for her. She shook her head, leaning her elbow on the table and propping her chin up to look at him. “It was just terrible Klaus...all those pastries and no one to really appreciate them.” She gave a heavy sigh, but grinned at his last comment. “Would love to see that gorgeous mug of yours more,” she said, the teasing still in her voice. “But really...I’m happy you’re back and you’re okay.”
Klaus laughed shaking his head. He usually wasn’t big on puns, but the fact that Rose knew it wasn’t great was definitely amusing. “Well then, what time does your shift end?” He chose to just focus on that instead of making fun of her pun. “Don’t worry, love. I’ll make sure the pastries get plenty of appreciation from now on.”
“Good,” she said, happy to have him back. “And I’ve got a couple more hours. I could meet up with you somewhere though?” It would be their first time hanging out outside of work, but they seemed to get on well enough. If people were right, that being on the network brought about the dreams, at least it brought a good community together.
“Any place in particular you’d wanna go?”
A few hours was fine for Klaus. Gave him time to find a meal or two. “I think I can make that work,” Klaus smirked before suggesting a bar. “I’ll let you get back to work,” Klaus said standing back up. “See you later, love.”
