Catherine had been enjoying the snow so far, even throwing a few snowballs at friends and her roommate. It was a little like being back at home with the weather the way it was now. She didn’t pay any attention to the first time something hit her hat, thinking it was just more snow but when she looked up to try and find her car she realized there was no snowflakes falling but something was still tapping on the top of her head and she looked up to see mistletoe. “What the hell is this?” she said, reaching up with one hand to shove it away or yank it down only to have it move just out of her reach.
It was a bad sign is what it was. The only person in range was a tall woman in black leather pants, walking towards a motorcycle. She found herself pulled into a direction against her will, walking up to Catherine and sizing her up. Almost like a switch was flicked on, she reached her hand out and pulled her into a deep, very talented kiss.
Catherine was a little surprised by the beautiful woman walking towards her with intent that way but she didn’t fight her when the taller woman reached out to pull her close. Normally she would have been reluctant to kiss a stranger but there was something in the air that had her returning that deep kiss, moving her hands up to rest on the other woman’s shoulders as her eyes closed.
Xena tended to have a pretty active social life, but she didn’t normally kiss someone out of the blue, no matter how attractive they might be. But this was enjoyable, and Catherine was soft and yeilding and there was this damned jingling sound that only made her deepen the kiss.
Catherine had heard about people hearing bells when they kissed someone for the first time but she’d never experienced it before this. At first she thought it was just some volunteer trying to get people to donate money by ringing their bell but then she realized that the sound was coming from right above their heads. Something very weird was going on here and she wondered if this was some part of the general weirdness she heard happened out here now and then. She pulled away after a little longer, breathing hard and gave the other woman an almost embarrassed smile. “Hi.”
“Hello, sweetheart.” Xena drawled, eyes flicking up and down her face. That had been an unexpected but very nice kiss. She glanced up and spotted the mistletoe. “Damn, third time today. Not that I really mind when it’s someone as pretty as you.”
Smooooth.
Catherine flushed a little at that compliment and licked her lips slowly as she looked into the taller woman’s face. “First time for me but definitely not an experience I’m going to complain about.” She’d never kissed another woman before but it hadn’t been a bad experience at all. “I’m Catherine.” Might as well introduce herself right?
“I’m Xena.” She could think of worse ways to meet someone. In fact she’d met someone in far worse ways before, so this was pleasant. She couldn’t help it and winked, “Really nice to meet you.”
Catherine grinned up at her, reaching with one hand to brush a curl back over her shoulder where it had fallen out of her ponytail. “Nice to meet you too.” There might have been a little extra flirtatiousness in her voice but the woman was hot and a good kisser and Catherine had always had an open mind about people. And it wasn’t like she was seeing anyone exclusively (even if a part of her wouldn’t mind giving that a shot with one of her friends).
She was actually really cute, and Xena did have a soft spot for cute girls, so she ramped up the charm. It wasn’t like she had any plans to pursue anyone. Xena was going to stick to friendships and occasional benefits - she was too hung upon Gabrielle to want to break someone’s heart. “Wanna get a drink?”
Catherine thought for a minute before answering. “Sure. Where’d you have in mind?” Drinks couldn’t hurt anything right?
“Well, my usual haunts would probably be a little much for you, but I think I know a place.” Xena offered her arm.
Catherine couldn’t help herself as she tilted her head slightly to give her an almost challenging look as she slid her arm into Xena’s. “Oh really? What makes you think that?”
“Biker bars ain’t exactly for the faint of heart,” Xena suggested. “But I know a place that’s still a little exciting. But not too exciting.”
“Starting off with a little exciting sounds like a good plan when you put it that way.” Catherine said, agreeing easily. “Although I’d be lying if I didn’t admit to being a little curious what it’d be like to go to a biker bar.”
“All right. I’ll take you there. Just make sure to hold on real tight,” Xena said, gesturing to her bike with a grin. “Motorcycles ain’t for the faint of heart.”
Catherine grinned at her as she climbed on the motorcycle behind her. “I got a feeling you aren’t for the faint of heart either.” She made sure to follow her instructions though, wrapping her arms around the other woman tight as they took off.
“Hey, you’ve got Roman hands,” Xena teased. “I should know, I’ve encountered my share.”
