Who: Myrcella Baratheon and Jeremy Gilbert When: Christmas Day morning Where: Their home What: A Proposal Rating/Warnings: Status:
Myrcella got up a little later than usual Christmas morning, she was excited and loved the way they had decorated their home but it was nice to have a lazy morning with Jeremy. They were both busy so time off was a nice change for them and she was determined to enjoy it.
Slipping from the bed she put her slippers and dressing gown on and made her way to the kitchen to begin making a light breakfast.
Considering they had hosted Christmas Eve this year for a few friends, it only made sense that Jeremy and Myrcella would have slept in a little bit. Jeremy was only half asleep though when Myrcella got up, but he pretended that he was still asleep for a little while longer while he contemplated what he was going to do that morning. He had been thinking about it for awhile now and even though they had never really talked about marriage, after they had been together for as long as they had, it only seemed like the natural next step.
Getting out of bed, Jeremy got the ring box out from where he had hidden it and put it in the pocket of the hoodie he’d put on before heading downstairs, “Merry Christmas.” He said as he entered the kitchen.
Marriage was definitely something Myrcella wanted though they hadn’t spoken about it yet, it was something she just figured would happen at some point and she was happy with that. Her relationship with Jeremy was strong and secure and she was happier than she’d ever been.
Turning she smiled, “Merry Christmas” she said, turning the pan down low before moving to him to greet him with a kiss, “Sleep well?” she asked him.
Jeremy smiled as he kissed her back, “I did. You?” He was heading towards the sliding door, knowing that before he could do anything he had to let Dragon out. They had already slept in later than usual and he was surprised that the dog had left them alone as long as he had. “Everyone must have worn him out last night.” He said as Dragon finally came into the kitchen to join them.
“Mmm very well” Myrcella said chuckling as Dragon finally dragged himself into the room to be let out. “Definitely” she agreed, “He loved the attention he got from everybody, he’s such an attention seeker” she laughed, before she flipped the omelettes she had cooking in the pan.
“Oh, he loves it,” Jeremy smiled as he opened the back door, a cold wind coming in, “Come on, I’m not standing out here forever.” Once the door was open, Dragon ran out into the snow that covered the porch and yard, “I’ll be right back.” Jeremy slid the door closed and headed down the steps as Dragon ran around in the snow then headed towards the beach, “Hey! Get back here and poop already.” He really wanted to be back in the house, asking Myrcella to marry him, but he had to do this first.
Myrcella laughed and nodded, “Breakfast will be done when you get back” she told him, Dragon loved the snow and so Myrcella knew he’d try and stay out there longer. He wouldn’t get away with it for long, it was cold out there and Myrcella knew Jeremy wouldn’t let him get away with it. She hummed as she finished off their breakfast and loaded it onto plates along with glasses of juice.
Dragon finally did his business and Jeremy cleaned it up then they headed back into the house. Dragon went into the living room where he laid down in his bed while Jeremy washed his hands before heading to the table, “This looks great, but before we start eating there’s something I wanted to talk to you about.” He simply couldn’t wait any longer.
Myrcella left the plates on the table and turned to Jeremy with a smile, “Okay, did you want to sit or is it a standing talk?” she asked with a slightly mischievous smile.
“Well, you can stand.” Jeremy’s pulse rose slightly as he reached into the pocket of his hoodie for the ring box. He was more nervous about anything in his life, but he knew that this was what he wanted. “Myrcella Baratheon…” Getting down on one knee, Jeremy presented the ring box to Myrcella, opening it as he spoke, “Will you marry me?”
Myrcella was smiling but when Jeremy dropped to one knee her face turned to shock and her eyes filled with tears, happy tears though. Putting her hand over her mouth she nodded, “Yes” she managed, “I’d love nothing more” Laughing through her tears she dropped down and wrapped Jeremy in a hug, pulling back only to press her lips to his. She was honestly completely shocked but ridiculously happy too.
Jeremy honestly couldn’t have asked for a better reaction than the one that Myrcella had. Smiling, he wrapped his arms around her in return as she hugged him and kissed her back, “I even asked your mom and dad first.” He said as the kiss ended and he moved to take the ring out of the box and slide it onto her finger.
“Oh my god, I can’t believe it. And they said yes?” she asked him with a surprised look, though she was pleased, it said a lot that her mother had agreed. She admired the ring on her finger, which fit perfectly. Everything felt perfect as she smiled brightly at Jeremy.
Jeremy nodded, “They did. For a minute I thought your mom was going to say no, but I think she could see how much I love you.” Considering Jeremy had always been nothing but good to Myrcella, there really wasn’t any reason for her parents to say no. Well, Jeremy could think of a few reasons they might have said no, but those would have been purely selfish reasons on their part.
“I’m glad because I would have gone crazy if she had said no” Myrcella said, hugging Jeremy tightly, “I love you more than anything” she told him happily.
Jeremy smiled and shrugged a little, “I mean, even if she had, I probably still would have asked you.” Of course he’d wanted their approval, but he wanted to be with Myrcella more, so there was very little which would have kept him from asking her, “I love you, Myrcella.”
“I should think so too” Myrcella grinned, she loved her family but they didn’t get to rule her life for her. She had gotten far too used to her independence now. “This is definitely the best Christmas ever” she said leaning up to kiss him again.
