Who: Mary Crawley and Jim Kirk What: A random run in When: Dec 26 Where: Starbucks Rating/Warnings: TBD Status: Ongoing
Christmas without her family had been odd, though after moving so recently to Orange County for work, Mary couldn't justify taking the amount of days she would need to go home for Christmas. They had Facetime at least, which was nice, even if her Granny didn't quite understand how to use it. And with a nine hour time difference, it meant that they were sitting down to eat just as Mary was getting up. It felt weird, but Mary put on her best smile as usual. No sense in getting them worried about her.
The next day she didn't have to go into the office, though she still needed to get some work done. The idea of remaining cooped up in her house didn't appeal to her, so she took her laptop to the local Starbucks. At least there she could focus on work and not on the fact that her family was a continent away, or the fact that they had unseasonable snow in Southern California.
After ordering her drink from the barista, Mary waited at the counter for it to be prepared. Once they called her name, she scooped up her drink and quickly turned, not realizing that someone was standing right behind her.
"Oh!" she cried. She stopped short before running into him, though the coffee did splash a bit out of the cup and onto her sweater and the floor.
