Who: Bucky and some Hydra NPCs What: The Winter Soldier is back and Hydra is taking advantage of that. When: Today Where: A secret Hydra base Warnings: Discussion of assassination
Time seemed to be both irrelevant and a blur to the Winter Soldier. He had been confused upon waking up in bed with a stranger, and he'd left. His memory was completely blank. Or at least it had been. The past couple days, the Winter Soldier had been seeing flashes of faces in his mind's eye. He couldn't yet put names to these faces, but there was a brunette woman with brown eyes that he kept seeing. As much as he tried to put her out of his head, it was impossible to completely forget about her. Or about that blonde haired, blue-eyed soldier in the blue uniform. He didn't know his name either, but he felt a sense of familiarity.
However, the Hydra scientists and other operatives rarely left him to his thoughts for overly long. They'd done some tests on him, as though trying to ascertain his abilities. He sat on a chair in a stark room. There was a table and a chair on the side opposite him. The fluorescent light overhead flickered now and then, but he was alone in the room. There were heavily armed guards outside of the door, which was why he didn't move, but at least he wasn't restrained currently.
Finally, after what seemed to be an eternity, the door opened, and a scientist and another man in a suit came in, a folder tucked under his arm.
"It seems that you will be of use to us. Your skills with guns are invaluable," the suit explained. He took a seat across from the Winter Soldier, setting the folder on the table in front of him.
"Why do you want me?" Was the Soldier's response.
"You are special, Soldier, and we need someone with your skills. We need an assassin, someone who can slip in and out with precision that won't be discovered by the wrong people. We also need someone who is untraceable. And that's you. A ghost operative, if you will."
"Why?"
"We operate secretly. Calling attention to ourselves is out of the question. We have a target for you to eliminate." He slid the folder across the table. The Soldier stared at the man long and hard for several moments, enough to make the man begin to wonder if the Soldier would turn against him. However, the Soldier simply took the folder in hand, opened it and read over it. He didn't know why they needed this man dead, but the Soldier wasn't one to question orders.
Though he had a flash of that brown eyed girl again. He didn't understand why he kept seeing her, but he didn't let his confusion show on his face. He kept it blank and emotionless. He returned his full attention to reading the file until he'd read enough and looked back at the suited man.
"Where will he be?"
"Do not worry about that. We are in the process of making the arrangements. You will be taken to the place when it is time. Until then, keep your skills sharp in the shooting range. This will be the beginning of a beautiful arrangement." The man then got up and exited the room. The scientist motioned for the Soldier to get up and follow him. Perhaps more tests were going to be conducted, or he was going to practice shooting. Either way, the Soldier would take whatever came to him as long as it kept him from thinking too much.
Why did he keep seeing that woman? Why did it seem to stir up some emotions within him when he saw her face? He needed to get her out of his head somehow. He just hoped that this assassination he'd be doing would do the trick. If not, well, perhaps the scientist could help him.
