Who: Laura and Aurora What: Apologizing When: A week or so after the whole RvB plot Where: Aurora's Rating: PG Status: complete
Did Aurora ever want to see her again? Laura had drawn her claws on her, and in her mind that was nigh unforgivable. So she did the only sensible thing Laura could think of -she went to stalk her girlfriend, hiding in a tree near the greenhouse and watching her. Trying to read her movements or smell if anything was amiss.
Laura was angry at herself, but at least she hadn’t done anything permanent. But some things cut deeply even without claws.
Aurora had fought with basically everyone. She felt terrible about it now, but it was difficult to really do more than just apologize for being in an absolutely foul mood. Sighing, she continued to work in her greenhouse. It was the only thing that was really making her feel any better. She needed to find Laura and apologize, but she still wasn’t sure how to say it or anything else. She just wanted her to forgive her already...which was difficult when she hadn’t exactly reached out to apologize in the first place.
After a moment, Aurora let out a sigh and sat on the stool in the greenhouse, chin propped in her hands.
Having never seen Aurora this unhappy looking, Laura was at a loss. She wanted to go to her and comfort her, but she didn’t know if it was her place. Mostly, she wanted thing to be the way they had been.
It took several more minutes of watching the normally sunny Aurora moping before Laura couldn’t take it anymore. She dropped out of the tree and approached the green house, and knocked.
Not having expected anyone, Aurora jumped at the sound of knocking and quite nearly fell off her stool. When she looked up, she found herself staring for a moment before sliding off her stool and making her way to the door and opened it. “Laura.”
She cleared her throat, pausing for a brief second before speaking again. “I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to argue and be difficult and make things terrible and I’m sorry I was...well...I don’t know what it was, but I just was so angry and everything made me angry and I was a brat and I’m so sorry.”
“I’m sorry,” Laura said, rubbing her palms against her hips to deal with the sweat that was building up. “I was angry too. Not at anything in particular, just angry. And I could have hurt you. I could have really hurt you.”
Aurora shook her head. “You wouldn’t have.” She had to believe it. There was a moment of hesitation before she walked closer and leaned against Laura. “But don’t ever do that again. Okay?” Because really...the whole situation had been disconcerting and Aurora didn’t want to have to find herself in that situation again. “I’m just glad you’re okay.”
Laura hesitated, before wrapping her arms around Aurora and hugging her tightly. She’d hated the idea that she’d ruined things with Aurora, when they’d just barely begun, or worse, destroyed their friendship.
“Angry doesn’t suit you.”
A small smile formed at that. “I’m not very good at angry. It doesn’t mean sometimes I don’t feel frustrated or angry, but I don’t usually...do that.” A pause. “Yell at people, I mean. And just shout at them or hit them.” She winced slightly at the memory of it. “I really am sorry about that. About all of it. I shouldn’t have hit you. But probably picking people up and trying to make them go somewhere they don’t want to is not a great option either. But still…” Still, she shouldn’t have hit her.
“Can we just agree not to do that again? Ever?”
Lara could explain her reasonings, but she wasn’t going to. There was no point, and there were more important things to talk about. So she nodded. “I agree. I’d sooner stab myself than raise a hand to you.”
“Please don’t stab yourself. I mean, I guess you would heal, but that would just be unnecessary.” She closed her eyes to block out everything outside of the feeling of Laura’s arms around her. “Are you okay? Nothing happened outside of that, did it? I only really dealt with stuff on that day. I kind of avoided things everywhere.”
“I’m beyond letting myself be in pain if I can help it.” Laura had managed to not even cut herself over this, though there had been a few minutes where it had been very tempting. She wondered if that was normal, that kind of temptation or threat of falling back into the habit.
“Nothing else happened that day. Not to me, anyway.”
Aurora was glad. She hoped that wouldn’t become a thing. She wasn’t sure how to deal with something like that. But she’d be there for Laura if she needed to be. “I’m glad that nothing else happened to you that day. I was rude to my aunties and my parents. I sort of made up something to explain it.”
She leaned back to look at Laura for a moment before leaning down to press a quick kiss to her cheek. “Do you want to help me repot a few of the plants?”
“I… “ Laura swallowed, then nodded. “Okay. I think I would like that.”
