The medic Leon spoke to seemed almost astonished that he was asking for Alex. He blinked. "Alex?" he asked, as if he had no idea who this guy and his weird kid was asking for. It wasn't uncommon for parents to swing by the station with their kids on Halloween, hunting for candy. This year, there were monsters out there, but this stranger with his kid didn't seem to be bothered by them.
"Just a sec," the medic told them.
Alex was just coming in from a call. He was pulling off his gloves to toss them as he shuffled through the back door with his crew. Another monster down, another patient transported to the hospital. At least they weren't zombies. Alex looked up at his co worker who'd stayed behind on this one. He was informed of his visitors and he grinned. He grabbed their candy stash before he went back out from the back area to the front where Leon and his baby brother were waiting.
He paused in front of the handsome detective, pretending to be protective of his candy bowl. "Wait," he told the obvious cowboys. "Let me guess. You're aliens, right?"
