Who: Leon, Alex, and NPC!Chris What: Leon brings Chris by Alex's work for candy When: Halloween Where: Alex's work Rating/Warnings: Should be low/none. Will probably be some strong language Status: In progress
This was the first Halloween where Leon didn't intend to get drunk and possibly laid, but that didn't mean he wasn't still going to enjoy his day off and his first Halloween ever with his little brother. He'd waken up early, helped Chris get dressed in his cowboy costume (Leon still didn't understand why Chris had insisted on getting the one with the bear on the back, but he guess it was kind of cute), dropped his little brother off at school, and had spent the rest of afternoon going over the files for the serial killer case he'd been working on all month.
Just before he had to pick Chris up from school, he'd changed into his own cowboy costume, complete with a cowboy hat, and went to get him. They had a couple of hours before Sharon finished her shift, and Leon wanted to take Chris to a couple of specific places.
His first stop had been the precinct, where he got most of his coworkers to give Chris candy. He even stopped by drug enforcement - their dad's old department - where Chris got even more candy. Leon typically avoided the place. They still saw Leon as Sergeant Christopher Orcot's son, even if he had proven himself as a cop in his own right over the last six years. But more than that, Leon just didn't particularily enjoy talking about his parents, and his dad's old colleagues had mountains of stories. Stories that Chris was more than happy to listen to, some that even Leon hadn't heard yet, most of which probably weren't entirely appropriate for a six year old to hear, though neither Orcot brother really minded. Sometimes Leon really regretted that he never had the chance to work with his dad, but at least he'd had seventeen years with him. Christopher had been killed before he'd even known that his wife was pregnant again.
Finally, Leon had to bribe Chris away with promises of ice cream, and he assured Chris they could come back for more stories later. Maybe he'd even invite some of them over for cards and beers sometime, even if he could tell that some of them were a little weirded out by Chris's mutism. He was sure he'd see at least one of them at his desk tomorrow asking about it. But Leon had one more stop he wanted to make before they actually went trick-or-treating with Leon's friends.
He was probably going to have to let Joe take another look at his old silver 80s Corolla, but other than the racket it produced, it made it to Station 37 without much trouble.
"Hey, is Alex around?" he asked the first person he saw, keeping a hand on Chris's head so he didn't run off somewhere and get himself in trouble.
