Jeremy hadn’t exactly been surprised when more OC craziness began happening, but he had hoped that after the whole mess with the zombies and demons only a month earlier that they would have gotten a little more downtime. After his dreams about Mystic Falls where crazy stuff happened just as frequently, Jeremy wanted to be able to relax a little in the waking world, but apparently the OC had other ideas.
He had been out that afternoon, for a little while, with Tyler trying to take down some of the mercenaries that had invaded this time around. His crossbow hadn’t been super effective, but it had gotten the job done and they had gotten away with only minor injuries.
Once they had decided to call it a day, Jeremy had headed back to the Gilbert house where he, Myrcella and Dragon had spent the night with Elena. He had thought it would be safer if they were all together and he had been more at ease knowing that his sister and girlfriend were both okay.
Reaching the house, he headed inside, “I’m back.” He set his crossbow down by the front door, where it would be useful if anything attacked then headed further into the house to find the girls.
Myrcella too had been hoping for a break from the craziness, she felt especially useless in times like this since she wasn’t a fighter in either this world or the dream world. She did appreciate being with Elena since being on her own all day would have been awful. She worried a lot about Jeremy while he was out, but she knew it was something he had to do.
When she heard him come in she rushed to the front door and wrapped her arms around Jeremy, “Are you okay?” she said pulling back a little to look at him, frowning at a cut on his cheek, “What happened?” she asked, before taking his hand and leading him to the bathroom so she could clean it up.
Jeremy smiled when he saw Myrcella and wrapped his arms around her in return, “I’m okay.” He gave her a quick kiss before he found himself being led towards the bathroom, “Turns out crossbows aren’t exactly the best things to use against mercenaries. I might need to look into some other type of weapon for when things like this happens.” Normally Jeremy wouldn’t have used a crossbow or other weapons against regular people, but he had learned long ago that when invasions like these happened, they weren’t just regular people. They were people or things that had somehow materialized as a result of the dreams. “I’m guessing you guys have been okay here.”
“I would say or you could stay out of it and be at home with me but I know that isn’t you” Myrcella smiled as she cleaned him up and treated his injuries, grateful that nothing worse had happened. “We’ve been fine, no problems at all thankfully” she told him, wondering on the scale of crazy exactly how bad it was out there this time.
“I know. I probably should. A couple of years ago I never would have thought about jumping into the fray when stuff like this happens, but being in the thick of things so often in my dreams…..” Jeremy shrugged, “I guess I just get a little antsy when I’m not out there.” Being a Hunter didn’t help either. He had his vampire killing urges under control, but that didn’t mean he didn’t get restless when things like this happened and he knew that he could help people.
“I know” Myrcella promised with a smile and a nod, pressing a kiss to his lips sweetly, “You are a good man Jeremy, one of the best and I am grateful for it” she assured him. As she cleared away the things she’d used to clean him up, “So how bad is it out there?” she asked.
Jeremy smiled as he returned the kiss then helped Myrcella clean up a little before sighing, “It’s not awful, but we did run into a good number of mercenaries. Not to mention, practically everywhere you go, the weather is different. It’s like a Sahara desert in one area, you turn the corner and it’s snowing. This might be one of the weirdest things I’ve witnessed here.” It was probably tied with the crazy Hunger Game shit that had happened the year before.
“That says a lot around here” Myrcella said, something weird was always going on though generally it wasn’t harmful. Mostly it was annoying or inconvenient, Myrcella didn’t like it when people got hurt. It felt more ominous and reminded her of her dreams when people were injured or seriously wounded. “Hopefully it’ll be over soon, things have never lasted too long before”
Jeremy nodded, “I’m sure you’re right. Most of the crazy stuff only seems to last about a week, at the most.” He couldn’t think of anything that had ever lasted longer except maybe the snow in December. The snow, however, always seemed to vary. “Ya know, I should teach you some self defense stuff. Just in case.” It couldn’t hurt for Myrcella to know how to protect herself if he wasn’t around.
Myrcella nodded, “I’m keeping my fingers crossed it follows the same pattern this time” she said, because it would suck if this was the thing that lasted a lot longer.
“Maybe, I have thought about it before but I’m not sure I’d be any good” she admitted.
Jeremy shrugged a little, “No one starts out good. I wasn’t, when I started in the dreams.” It had taken a lot of practice and goading from Damon to help Jeremy become good. Even his natural Hunter instincts hadn’t made him good at hunting or self defense at first. He’d had to work at it or end up dead. “When this is all over, we could start.”
“Okay” Myrcella agreed, it would be nice not to be completely helpless. She may be a Princess in the dreams but she would like to not be the stereotypical damsel in distress if she could help it. “Thank you” she said giving Jeremy a hug, “I love you” she told him pulling back to smile up at him.
Jeremy returned the hug and pressed a kiss to her forehead, “I love you too.” Amidst all the crazy stuff that had happened over the last few years as well as the awful stuff, he was glad that Myrcella had always been by his side and if it were up to him, she always would be. “We should probably check on Elena.” He didn’t think his sister was in any trouble or anything, but considering what was happening outside, he couldn’t help but still worry a little.
Myrcella was glad that Jeremy was with her too, she couldn’t imagine her life without him now. She was happy even with the craziness that happened around the OC so often. Nodding Myrcella took his hand, “Come on, let’s go make sure she’s alright”
