When: Recent
Where: Shep's place

Rating: PG-13
It was like staring into the abyss. Dark eyes that looked back, filled with darkness and deceit and the promise of unending torment.
The puppy licked Shepard’s face, and all was well with the world as she carried him into the house. “All right Harbinger. I think I want a menagerie.”
A bird named Vakarian was distinctly appealing.
A tiny ball of fluff wasn’t exactly Callisto’s idea of a dog, but she was more of a pitbull type in that regard. Though Callisto had never really seen herself as an animal kind of person. Yet her dreams had given her her horse. Which was a start. And she’d make do with the tiny fluffball of evil so long as it didn’t attack her, of course.
Hearing Jane return, Callisto moved out to see her coming in with the dog. “Is that the thing that will strike fear into the hearts of all who look at it?”
“Yes, he is.”
The dog jumped to the floor and hop-walked towards Callisto. He seemed to give her a very thorough inspection before flopping onto her feet.
“I think he approves of you.”
Callisto looked down at him as he gave her an inspection. Then as he flopped onto her feet, she glanced up at Jane. “Oh yes, he’s such an attack dog, I can tell.” It was kind of weird, but she did lean down to give him a pat.
It was kind of cute but she knew better than to say that out loud. Shepard folded her arms. “I’ll train him to be as deadly as a Varren.”
She wondered if Cass was in, she figured Cass would like the dog too.
For all his devil eyes, Harbinger seemed to be very into the pets.
Standing back up straight, Callisto shook her head a little in bemusement. “He’ll be a vicious ankle-biter.” Which was actually quite effective. If ankles were bitten hard enough, people couldn’t run away. Certainly a good tactic to impose.
“A carpet shark,” Shepard agreed. “I’ll teach him to aim for achille’s heel.” It was an effective tactic and she was genuinely serious about that.
Even if he was a cute little lap dog. “The harbinger of their demise.”
“There you go. He’ll be the bane of everyone’s Achilles’ heels.” Callisto confirmed. And the fluff would just add to catching people off-guard. Who would think something so cute and fluffy could attack?
Laughing, Shepard snuck into Callisto’s personal space, running a hand up her arm. “I’m glad someone gets it. Just because something is cute and fluffy doesn’t mean it can’t be dangerous. It’s fun to mislead people.”
Looking at Jane, she smirked a bit. “It’s always fun to mislead people. Using appearances to catch people off-guard can be the best.” Take Callisto herself. She was attractive and blonde, two things that tended to get her all sorts of attention. She was also lean, which meant people underestimated how strong she was. Which definitely helped when she’d get into bar fights.
Shepard stole a kiss, leaning in closer. “Did we interrupt anything? Were you busy? Do you want to get busy?”
“I wasn’t busy. And if getting busy involves you, I would welcome it.” It still threw Callisto for a loop how Jane made her feel when she got close to her like this.
“Well...we could get busy by going to the petshop,” Shepard suggested, not entirely seriously. “But I can think of a few better things and only one of those involves violence.”
When it came to Callisto, violence and sex were sometimes the same thing, one being foreplay for the other. And Shepard was almost always on board with either.
Callisto arched an eyebrow at the mention of going to the petshop. Though she smirked a bit at Jane. “Can you, now? And only one involves violence?” She tilted her head, the smirk still there as she trailed a hand up Jane’s arm. “What about the other things? What do those entail?”
Jane leaned in, and whispered in Callisto’s ear, “One of us blindfolded, feathers, and I’ve always wanted to strap you to a Sybian.”
A shiver ran through Callisto at Jane’s words and she licked her lips before she turned her head and bit and tugged on Jane’s earlobe. “You can strap me to anything you want,” she murmured into Jane’s ear.
The dog barked, annoyed at the loss of attention, but Jane was a little distracted by Callisto’s mouth on her ear. She groaned lightly. “We’re gonna need a Sybian…”
“Then it seems some shopping will need to be done. Unless you want to do the shopping later and do the blindfold and feather part now.” Callisto left that up to Jane. She could go either way right then.
Jane got a cocky little grin. “Lets do that shopping right now. I can be patient.” Mostly. She’d survive long enough to spend the kind of money necessary for that toy.
Hopefully.
