Who: Irisa and Myrcella
What: Movie night
Where: Irisa’s beachhouse
When: Early Sept
Rating: Low
Status: Complete

Irisa loved movie night with Myrcella. While she was enjoying having her own space to do her own thing, it was a relief to have Myrcella come over and distract her from her own thoughts. She had a tendency to let work take over her life and Myrcella’s visits, as well as Alucard and Integra’s, reminded her to take a break and relax. She’d cued up the first film while Myrcella was sorting out the snacks and bowls at the kitchen counter.

Myrcella loved having movie nights with Irisa, it was good to see her friend doing so well. And it was a big show of trust that she’d been left with not just a house but a business too. She was very proud of her bestie.

“So we have popcorn, crisps and chocolate” Myrcella said bringing through a tray with 3 bowls as well as two small bottles of their favourite soda. “I think we’re all set, foodwise” she smiled as she set the tray down on the small table in front of the sofa.

“Excellent, you are the queen of snackage!” Irisa smiled at her. “Thanks,” she said as her friend put down the tray of snacks. “Is it warm enough for you? I can grab a blanket or something if you like?” she offered. The beach house was nice, but it could get a bit drafty at times.

Myrcella laughed, “Thank you, I aim to please” she grinned. “I’m okay at the moment but let’s keep one handy in case we get cool later” Luckily while Myrcella could get chilly she was used to the cooler temperature of living on the beach. She did however think she’d be using the blanket as well as Irisa’s arm as the film got scarier.

“Ok, just a sec,” Irisa nodded and hurried off to her room and grabbed the blanket off the chest at the end of her bed. Draping it along the back of the couch in case they needed it later. “You sure you’re ok with watching this?” she asked, wanting to double check.

“Perfect” Myrcella said when Irisa placed the blanket over the couch, “I’m sure. It’s more gore than horror from what I remember. Just don’t be alarmed if I cling to your arm at some point” she teased, though was only half joking.

Irisa chuckled as she plopped herself down on the couch next to her friend. “Ok, but I’m not used to being the knight in shining armour,” she grinned at her friend. “Do you want the lights on or off?”

“I have no doubt you will be able to perform the role admirably” Myrcella told her, “Dimmed?” she suggested in compromise, bright light wasn’t great for a movie but total darkness wasn’t fun in a scary movie either. Not in her opinion anyway.

Laughing, Irisa reached over to pick up the remote control from the table beside the couch which would lower the lights somewhat. “This ok?” she asked after adjusting the lights. “Don’t worry, there’s knives hidden all around this place so if anything happens I’ve got you covered,” she winked.

“I’m sure that’s supposed to be reassuring rather than worrying” Myrcella said giving Irisa a grin as she bumped their arms and nodded in response to the question about the lighting, “Though I am glad you are prepared” she added thoughtfully.

“You know me, I’m always prepared,” Irisa nodded resolutely. “Besides, it had to be knives, I like to keep my gun secure in a safe when I’m home, so it’s not immediately accessible,” she explained quite matter of factly. “But if you’d feel safer with it out I can go get it…” she offered, making to stand up.

“No, no that’s fine” Myrcella said, tugging Irisa back down, “Guns make me nervous, I’m not used to people just having them in their homes. Besides I have no doubt you can do enough damage with a knife should anybody be stupid enough to go against you”

Irisa laughed as Myrcella pulled her back to the couch. “Aww, don’t you trust me with a gun?” she teased playfully, resting her head on Myrcella’s shoulder. “You know, I really am an excellent shot. I could shoot an apple off the top of your head and not ruffle a hair,” she reassured.

“Oh I am positive you could, I’d have a heart attack in the meantime but I have no doubt you’re the best” Myrcella assured her, “I just don’t like guns in general. They’re not all that common in the UK, only madmen and the police have them, mostly”

“I always forget that,” Irisa chuckled with a little shake of her head. It boggled her mind that someone else’s normal wasn’t necessarily the same as her normal. “Well I’ll always protect you from the madmen,” she told her friend.

“And that is one of many reasons why I love you” Myrcella said, settling down against her best friend, “Now press play before I lose my nerve” she grinned.
