Bubbles wanted to see Cindy, which hadn’t happened as recently as she’d wanted to. Work had been crazier than she meant for it to be and then zombies and skeletons and demons showed up and things got even crazier. But she’d come bearing the gift of delicious treats. She’d found vegan double chocolate chip cookies that she’d thought were absolutely great. She just hoped that Cindy felt the same about them. But she didn’t want to come visit without a snack. She’d even brought Bigby some cat treats and a couple of toys (she may have gone a little overboard with both the treats and toys, but there were so many good ones and she couldn’t help herself). She’d texted first to see if Cindy was free before she just showed up because it would have been sad if she’d shown up and no one had been home. Or she’d been interrupting. It was always better to be safe than sorry when it came to popping in on people. Unless those people were her sisters and the Professor. Then popping in was totally acceptable! Knock knock! “I brought sweets and the promise of friendly foot massages!” Because that seemed like a thing that might be good. “And cat presents.” Her voice was a little more sheepish and a little less bright and happy when she mentioned the cat presents. Probably because there were so many. This was also why Lulu had so many toys. It was a problem. Friendly foot massages? Really? Well, damn. There weren’t many things Cindy would haul her pregnant ass (she had just passed the ‘four months’ mark and being knocked up with twins meant she didn’t look as small as a glowing woman with only one bun in the oven would be) to the front porch for, but all of that sounded good. Sweets and cat presents too? Bigby would be elated - he’d been sensing something was up lately, and Garrus had also been the one solely in charge of cleaning the litterbox. Apparently there was something in cat shit that was toxic to pregnant women, and she wasn’t even supposed to be around it. Hey, not complaining. “Coming,” she laughed, heading to the door in her maternity sweats (so attractive) and opening it up. “Bubbles, hi! Entrez-vous,” she motioned for her fellow blonde friend to come inside. “Make yourself at home.” The living room was tidy - Cinderella couldn’t stand a messy house, nope. Bigby, so very dapper as usual, came flouncing out to show off his bowtie and inquire of the human what various gifts and offerings she brought him. He was prepared to be wowed. Bubbles was pretty sure that’s what friends were for. They did things like bring sweets and give foot massages when their friends were pregnant. Probably. If it wasn’t, it didn’t matter. It was part of her friendship anyway! She’d probably have offered to help with basically anything that Cindy needed her to do, but she was also just as happy to sit and do mostly just stick to her friendly foot massages. “Helloooooo!” Her voice was very much sing-song as she stepped inside the house. “I’ve missed you and decided I needed to stop working so much and being a girl who just moved in with her boyfriend about things.” She grinned widely, bouncing in place for a moment before setting down the bag of cat things in a chair, picking out a couple of the toys before setting them down for Bigby, letting him know that they were his. Talking to animals was still so much fun. She may not be able to fly, but she could still talk to any animals that she wanted. “I may have gone overboard,” she said, looking up at Cindy from where she was squatting. “There were just so many cute, fun things.” She grabbed for a bag of treats, setting a few of them out for Bigby to get before sealing them and putting them back in the bag. “Sorry.” There was a mildly sheepish look before she stood up again and held out the bag of cookies. “But these should totally make up for it!! Because cookies fix everything, basically.” Bigby loved toys and he loved treats - because he was the King of Felines who deserved the best in both, obviously. First he ate the snack, then investigated the new toys - one was a bird attached to string, so clearly this meant he needed to grab it in between his paws, bat at it, lie down with it, then zoom off to run laps around the house a few times before coming back and attacking it. This was him showing how badass he was. Everyone should be impressed. “No such thing as overboard when it comes to cookies - especially when I’m eating for three,” Cindy grinned, taking the bag from Bubbles. “Thanks so much though, these look great.” She did love vegan chocolate chip cookies - they tasted better, for some reason. Maybe because of the coconut oil used, it gave them an extra bit of flavor. “And obviously Bigby is impressed with his stuff too.” The cat was a spaz sometimes but all cats were, and Cindy loved her furchild anyway. “Do you want anything to drink, by the way? Almond milk to go with these cookies?” Bubbles tried not to laugh when Bigby started playing with the bird. It was hopeless, though. She was definitely laughing. It was so CUTE! No one could stop her from laughing at this point. She would, of course, make sure Bigby knew that he was very impressive. Naturally. It would be rude to deny a cat his joy in being known as a very badass cat. No, she would not do that to him. Even if she was currently laughing. “It’s so exciting! Twins!!” Her hands clasped together and she bounced in place once more. “I am totally babysitting. Well, whenever you need someone later when they aren’t super new and you aren’t probably super uninterested in leaving them. Unless you totally need sleep, which you will at some point. But BABIES!” Bubbles was drawn to the adorable and small things in life. Then again, kids were always a little cute. Until they started kicking things. But obviously she could help them get into science because science and coloring were THE BEST! Blossom would be the MOST AMAZING of all science teachers. Only she wasn’t sure that’s what Blossom wanted to do. She just thought if someone was going to get kids interested in science, it would definitely be her sister. “I’m glad that he seems happy with my offerings. I will make sure to have more when he has killed the bird...and the three mice and whatever else I got him.” Bubbles was one hundred percent EXCITED about pretty much everything. “Oh! I can get us almond milk. You sit down. We can get to friendly foot rubs after maybe like one cookie. Or two. And the almond milk. If I’d thought about it, I would have brought nail polish and we could have done that, too. For your toes. Unless you’re not supposed to...I don’t know all the dos and donts of pregnancy.” “One or two or three cookies,” Cindy teased, because she could easily pack away more than two cookies. She settled back on the sofa then, if Bubbles wanted to grab the milk and glasses from the kitchen - it was sweet of her, though Cindy felt mostly fine in the second trimester. When she ballooned up even more, yeah, then she’d just not want to move and would have trouble finding a comfortable sleeping position. “Nail polish from certain brands is safe, something about the combo of chemicals is what you have to check - but I’m okay with going au naturale too.” Who knew a mani or a pedi could cause damage to unborn babies? The list of stuff Cindy got that she had to be careful about was mind-boggling. But her pregnancy was already ‘high risk’ because she was knocked up with multiples, so. She’d do everything possible to minimize that risk as much as she could by just avoiding certain things or cutting certain foods out of her diet. “So how’s being all shacked up with Stefan?” she asked, fluffing a couch pillow behind her. “You guys doing it on the regular?” Hey, they didn’t have to worry about Bubbles’ dad walking in or something - that was a bonus. Bubbles went to get the almond milk. She was more than happy to help even if she didn’t really need to. She took a little longer than she normally would have, but only because she had to find the glasses. It was a little hard to miss the fridge where the almond milk was. She came back into the room, handing a glass to Cindy before taking a seat. “I guess that makes sense. There are a lot of chemicals in things that are dangerous. We were made with Chemical X, which is a mystery chemical and turned us into superheroes.” A pause. “I bet Blossom could probably make a whole new sort of nail polish that no one had to worry about. She’s very smart!” Not that Bubbles wasn’t. She was smart, too. They all were. But Blossom was the chemist of the three of them. The next question made her blush a little. “It’s very nice. And I guess we do.” Okay she more than guessed, but she guessed she didn’t really talk about it too often. Except with Stefan. “It’s really...different. I’m so used to living with my sisters and our dad. But I like living with him.” Cindy could only guess what being with a vampire was like - it probably wasn’t all Twilight-esque, where their skin was hard as marble, chilly, and they sparkled. Maybe more normal. But she got questions about what fucking an alien was like, so, she was used to that sort of thing. Still, she couldn’t help but playfully tease Bubbles a little; her blonde friend was cute when she blushed. “Ooooh, nice,” the fairytale princess-spy winked, shoving a cookie into her mouth like the preggo piglet she was. Mmm. Goddamn, those were good. “Well, you’ve got yourself a hot boyfriend so do it as much as you want. You sound like it’s going well though, like you’re not driving each other nuts with your quirks yet.” It was not. Stefan was pretty normal. As long as he fed, his body acted the way it was supposed to. And he definitely did not sparkle. Unless she sprinkled glitter on him, which she wasn’t saying she did (but definitely she did). It was only because he’d obviously needed it. He didn’t really need it, but it was funny anyway. She’d made up for it later and ended up with a lot of glitter on her as well. “I think if we can move past him eating animals, we can probably get through most everything. Maybe. Probably.” She really hoped he didn’t start eating people...again. “He has a people-eating problem...in that people lose their heads if he feeds on them. Which is...not good. Obviously. So...animals it is.” She shrugged. “Hopefully my adorableness makes up for any possible flaws. Like making him watch every Disney movie ever. But then he usually takes any chance to distract me from them so he can get out of watching them. It is usually very effective.” A people-eating problem? Cindy quirked a brow. That was a way to put it. “So he just like, goes into a frenzy if he even has a drop of human blood?” she asked, just to be sure. She wasn’t acquainted with any vampires besides Katherine, whom she was close to - and she knew her friend definitely drank from the vein. She went for hunts, it was instinctual for vampires to want to both hunt and feed. For Stefan to deny that instinct, well, that took some strength. “Everyone has flaws,” she smiled a little. Granted, becoming a serial killer because of human blood, maybe a papercut, was a pretty big one but Bubbles wasn’t letting it scare her away. “And even vampires need love too.” She took a sip of milk, licking the mustache off her lips before it could stay behind. Yum. “Alright, so how many foot massages have you given in your day, miss?” Of course she absolutely trusted Bubbles with her feet. “Something like that, yes. He’s a Ripper. That’s what they call it.” It wasn’t something that ever seemed to go well. At least from what she’d heard. “Lexi knows how to get him back to himself when he goes into Ripper-mode, though. It’s a process, though. Kind of like detoxing, I think.” She had seen it once, but all she’d noticed was bags and bags of blood. He’d been different. “Lucky for me I have superstrength and laserbeam eyes. It can’t kill him, but it will keep him from doing anything he’d regret. I’m also still taking vervain, so I can’t be compelled and it sort of burns vampires if they try to drink it, so that helps. There are apparently a lot more vampires in town now. So...yeah.” She wasn’t sure how to feel about it, but she was sure she could handle her own. Once she could fly, she’d be even better off. “It’s not what I pictured, but it’s still good. He surprises me with my favorite things sometimes and he’s also really good at not eating in front of me. Unless it’s people food...but it’s not like it does much for him.” Bubbles smiled. “Well, most of my foot massage clients are much smaller and usually animals…” Hey! Animals totally needed foot massages too! Especially when they were sick and not feeling well! Duh. Unless they’d hurt their little feet. Then they needed to heal. “But I am pretty sure I can manage human feet.” The fact that Bubbles gave foot massages (paw massages?) to animals was totally cute, even Cindy had to think so. And she wasn’t really into ‘cute’ things (it was changing though, god, was it ever - she’d even created a Pinterest account for browsing sun and moon nursery ideas). “Mine are clean, at least,” she laughed, leaning back against the armrest of the sofa and playfully plunking her feet in Bubbles’ lap. “I can still sort of see them so I know that they’re not in a complete state of tragedy.” Soon they would be. Soon her belly would get in the way, and Cindy wasn’t looking forward to that. “I’m glad you’re happy though, with these new developments in your life. Your sisters are good too?” Bubbles was basically the shortest and cutest of all three of the Powerpuffs. She was totally okay with it. Except for when it made people doubt her. But people seemed to doubt her in general just based on her name and the fact that she was blonde. She’d absolutely make them regret that if given a chance to, however. “It’s hard to know with the animals at work. Sometimes they need a little cleaning. But that’s why man invented gloves.” She smiled, putting her glass down on the table. She would make sure her hands weren’t cold before touching Cindy’s feet. Out of kindness. Cold hands were unfortunate. “When you can no longer see your feet, I will try to stop by and at least keep them from looking too bad. We can get some epsom salts and soak your feet and make them feel better. It’ll be great.” Once she was sure her hands weren’t cold, she started the foot massage. “They’re good. Blossom is still doing her school things and she’s pretty happy with that. Buttercup’s basically always a little grouchy, but if we let her choose the movie on sister night she is happy. Only she usually picks the scary movies. So we take turns. Probably because she might punch something if I always chose...because it’s always Disney...or something cutesy. Once I made them watch Homeward Bound...and then I cried pretty much the whole time.” “I think if you don’t cry at Homeward Bound, you have no soul,” Cindy joked, but it was totally true. That ending would get even the hardest of hardasses. She sighed a moment later, completely at ease at having her sore tootsies rubbed. Because yeah, her feet really were hurting her more and more these days. Especially with so much pressure on them - she was carrying a heavier load than she normally did. The idea of epsom salts and foot soaks sounded super nice too. “You spoil me. And thus I officially appoint you my fixer of ugly feet,” she said as she pantomimed waving a magic wand (that she didn’t have) in Bubbles’ general direction. “It’s true. Buttercup tried to pretend she wasn’t crying, but she was.” Bubbles nodded sagely. Buttercup wasn’t nearly as tough as she tried to pretend she was. She was still the toughest of the three of them, however. Bubbles cried at the drop of a hat. Practically. She happily continued to massage Cindy’s feet. She was happy that her friend seemed to be happy with the foot massage, but considering how sore her feet were at the end of the day without the pregnancy, she had a feeling Cindy felt about the same. Maybe worse. “It is part of my super awesome friendship deal. Even if I’ve been busier than expected recently. But I will make time for you as things move forward!!” She laughed a little at her new title. “I’ll tell Stefan of my new title. I’m pretty sure he will tease me for a few days, but it’s okay. Sometimes I call him Snefan...or I did when it was snowing out and he had snow all over him. Snow Stefan. Also known as Snefan.” “Snefan,” Cindy giggled - yes, an honest to goodness giggle, but she was drunk on cookies and foot rubs. You may even be able to hear some of that southern accent sip through, the one that was all mint juleps and magnolia trees swaying in the breeze - the accent she’d worked so hard to erase when she’d left home for FBI agent training. Ah, well. It was just a testament to how relaxed she was. “Aw, you guys are cute - I’m happy for you. Though glad you’re gonna make time ‘cause I want you to meet the babies when they’re born. They’ll love their Auntie Bubbles.” Especially with a name like Bubbles. In the meantime, she’d just lie here and turn to mush. That sounded like a good plan to her - and hopefully her Fixer of Ugly Feet wouldn’t mind if she passed out for a few minutes because naps while pregnant were common too. And Cindy was gladly giving into those urges. Zzzzz. |
