Stefan was pretty much in heaven. All he had to do was keep control of his vamp side, but other than that? He had the most beautiful woman in the world living with him, a great job, and fantastic friends. What more could a guy ask for?
He was lounging on the sofa with the remote control to the television in his hand. He flipped idly through channels, marvelling at how many there were. “Bubbles?” He asked, “Was there something you wanted to watch tonight?”
Bubbles was pretty pleased herself. She hadn't actually considered the idea that she would move out for real until other people suggested it. Then Stefan had asked her and she felt like everything shifted. She'd still cried a little and missed her sisters, but living with Stefan, Lexi, and Anna was really nice. Mostly because she got to snuggle up to Stefan all the time (which wasn't actually that unusual for her). Additionally, she didn't have to go home to get clothes after a while. It was all there.
She'd been in the middle of putting veggies in a container to bring in with her when she heard Stefan’s voice. She peeked her head into the room before the rest of her body followed. “There's always animal planet or a cute movie or something?” She came to sit next to him, curling up and resting her head on his shoulders. “Let's see what movies are on!! There's probably a good animal-themed kid movie that obviously you will love forever.”
Stefan chuckled softly. Animal Planet and cute movies. He should have known. One arm lifted to wrap around her as she settled in against his chest. They were certainly a pair, weren’t they? A vegetarian and a vampire. He clicked over to the On Demand channels and started surfing through the animal-themed kid movies. Hopefully she’d stop him if she saw something she wanted to watch. “I’m sure I will.” He hadn’t seen many of these movies, and a lot of them looked… well, kinda corny. But he’d put up with anything for Bubbles.
Bubbles happily cuddled up to Stefan. She watched as he made his way through the movies, grabbing his hand to stop him when Zootopia showed up. “THIS ONE! It’s so cute. About a cute bunny who becomes a cop and this fox who is toooootally a...well, you’ll see.” Because she generally doubted that Stefan watched these movies without her. He mostly read books and they watched movies together. “You can pick the next movie. Promise! Just no zombies before bedtime or I can’t sleep.”
“...okay, yeah.” Stefan nodded, then settled in against her a little, attention on the television. “I’ve heard of this one.” He was actually really interested in this one. Anna couldn’t stop talking about it, but he hadn’t actually sat to watch the thing yet. Maybe because he knew Bubbles would want to watch it with him. “No zombies,” he grinned, “I promise.”
Bubbles did want to watch it, but she knew that Stefan’s movie tastes were not the same as hers, but he put up with her and her Disney affection. “Yay! No zombies!” She leaned up to press a kiss to his lips. “Thank you for agreeing to watch this with me and being the best boyfriend ever.”
Stefan chuckled softly, wrapping both arms around her and easily pulling her into his lap. “There’s really no need to thank me.” He purred, nuzzling his nose into her cheek, then her jaw, then her neck. Maybe he could distract her from the movie. That might prove a fun way to spend the evening.
Bubbles allowed herself to be pulled into Stefan’s lap. She really didn’t mind the change in seating. The feeling of her boyfriend nuzzling her face and neck did distract her. She knew she’d seen Zootopia before, but she was trying to pay attention. Even if she knew she’d give in before too long if he persisted. “I thought we were watching the movie,” she said, voice quiet. Not that she pushed him away or told him to stop.
“Mmm?” Stefan asked, his nose against the nape of her neck. “Oh. Sorry.” He wasn’t sorry. Not at all. But he lifted his head temporarily, tearing his attention from his beautiful girlfriend to look over at the television. There was an animated rabbit squirting red paint or ketchup on herself, claiming, “blood blood blood! And death!”
Stefan chuckled. “You sure you want me to watch this?”
He didn’t sound sorry either. She studied the TV screen and looked back at Stefan. “Well, that’s why I asked you to watch it, isn’t it? It’s cute.” As if that was something that mattered to Stefan. “And it’s totally a great movie!” She leaned in and pressed a quick kiss to his lips. “You’d like it if you tried, but I won’t force you to watch it either.”
“Just all the blood and death.” He nuzzled his nose once against hers. “I get enough of that in my Dreams.” He was teasing, obviously. Besides, the little bunny had gone on to do different things by now. He decided to stop teasing, get back to kissing her neck. But then something happened with a bully, and his attention was drawn to the television. Ah, well. Wouldn’t hurt to take a quick look. Soon he was actively watching, engaged with the animation, the voice acting, the dialogue.
“It’s not even real blood or death.” She scrunched up her nose when their noses touched. Not that she minded. Stefan was definitely her favorite person and any contact was good contact. Bubbles closed her eyes for a moment at the feeling of lips on her neck. Of course it stopped after a moment and she found herself trying not to smile at the fact that Stefan had gotten drawn into the movie. Instead, she turned her attention back to the movie. She was happy either way because she loved Zootopia and Judy. Judy was her favorite. Nick grew on her eventually, but Judy was definitely the best of them all. Oh! And the tiger at the front desk. He was also great.
Stefan settled in on the sofa again, arms re-wrapping around Bubbles as they cuddled against the cushions. He was distracted from the kissing and nuzzling by the adorable bunny on the screen. (But only bunnies can call other bunnies cute, apparently.) He smirked a little as his brain made all the connections. Way to go, Disney, touching on some serious shit in a family-friendly way. The ending came as a huge surprise to him--another first!--and he gave a little chuckle when Judy and Nick were able to trick the Mayor’s assistant person and save the day. Then he sat up, feeling just a little stiff from where he’d been leaning against the arm of the sofa. “That was really cute.”
Bubbles felt a little victorious and she grinned, pressing a kiss to his cheek. “It is! I knew you’d like it!” She turned to give him a quick kiss as a gift for sitting through the movie with her. “Thank you for watching it with me. Even though I know you didn’t want to at first.” She studied him for a moment, turning a little so she could press her nose against his neck. “So how are you enjoying living together so far? Is it as good as you thought it would be?” She tilted her head a little to press a kiss to his neck. Okay, maybe she was just returning the favor from earlier.
Stefan’s grip around her waist tightened as she kissed him. He loved feeling close to her, even though he felt he was constantly fighting the urge to bite her. He was constantly fighting that urge with everyone, not just Bubbles. It was easier now than it had been before, but it was always there.
“It’s far better than I thought it would be,” Stefan admitted with a smile. “What do you think?”
Bubbles smiled against the skin of his neck when she felt his grip tighten. She’d never considered herself the sort of person who felt a hint of victory over getting a reaction out of her boyfriend before. Even if it was a small one. She was sure she could feasibly blame Stefan for this turn of events.
“I think,” she started, not really moving that far from his neck so she could speak. “That it is the best ever. I also think that you are a bad influence.”
Stefan gave a little laugh. “Me? A bad influence? Why’s that?” His eyes sparkled as he looked at her. Not the Edward Cullen Vampire sparkle, but the looking-at-the-love-of-his-life kind of sparkle.
Bubbles nodded as she pulled back further to look at him. “You are the worst.” She flashed him a smile before kissing the tip of his nose. She was just that adorable all the time. “Becaaaause...you make my mind think things it doesn’t normally think about. Or at least it didn’t before.” She squinted at him as if she was trying to determine something. “Yep. Definitely your fault. Terrible influence.” She turned herself around so she was facing him a little more. She considered something for a moment before pointing at his shirt. “Also, you’ve got a little something right here.” If he looked down, she’d let her finger come up and bop him on the nose.
Stefan didn’t have to be reminded how adorable she was all the time. Very. Very was the answer. She was very adorable all the time. He shook his head a little, eyes still on her face. “I think I like that your mind’s thinking about things it doesn’t normally think about. So long as those things involve me.”
Then she was pointing to something on his shirt. He turned to look down at what she was pointing at, playing completely into her hand.
“It always involves you.” Obviously. “This girl did try to flirt with me, though. It was kind of cute, but I was more interested in flirting with you.” Because Stefan was the only one she was interested in in general. “When I get older, I'm pretty sure it'll be the same. Even if I will be the supposed cougar in the situation. You can tell them I'm the hottest old person you know”
She bopped him right on the nose before practically falling off his lap giggling to herself about it.
Hey, the idea of a girl flirting with Bubbles was a little hot. But Stefan was too possessive to put too much thought into it. He smirked. “You will be the hottest old person I know.” He leaned in to press a kiss against her cheek. “And I will never stop loving you.” He didn’t like thinking about what would happen in so many years. He just wanted to live in the here and now.
Then she bopped his nose. And giggled. And he couldn’t help but laugh with her. “C’mon, Miss Comedian. I’m taking you to bed.”
“Good. If you ever fall for another old person, I’m going to be really disappointed. You have to wait till I’m senile so I don’t notice.” She wrapped her arms around his neck and waited for him to move with her. “I’m the funniest and you should definitely take me to bed. Mostly because I have ideas about what might happen when we get there.” She winked, reaching up to tweak his nose. “I love you, Stefan Salvatore.”
Stefan wrapped his arms down and around her, then lifted her fluidly from their spot on the couch. With his vampire strength, she felt practically weightless to him. When she tweaked his nose, he broke into a smile. “I love you, Bubbles. Forever.”
