One morning too many, between the news on the tv, smashed car windows outside the coffee shop today, and just a general growing dissastifaction. One morning too many.
So Kitty was on edge.
And Kitty had been patrolling Esmeralda's neighborhood for a week now, just in case. Nothing she felt like she could act on, but she felt better acting, rather than waiting for something to happen.
It was Sunday night when she overheard someone talking about 'going after that g****y bitch.' She was always first in line to defend the people she cared about, and Esmeralda was her people, even if they didn't agree on methods.
But the more she overheard, the angrier she got. So she followed them, keeping to the roof tops. There were three of them, white men, one with an 88 tattooed on his neck. Really, that was all the impetus Kitty needed - the fact they were clearly walking towards the Court was just a bonus. Securing her mask, she dropped down from above. No witty commentary, just anger and brutal efficiency.
She passed through one, startling him, before jabbing her elbow into his nose. The second man tried to punch her and she twisted out of the way, grabbing his arm and snapping it over her knee. The third tried to run. Kitty grabbed a trash-can lid and flung it after him. It hit him in the head and he went down. The first man tried to come at her again and she punched him in the throat. He staggered back, before collapsing.
Looking around at her handiwork, she let out a sigh. "I don't know about the rest of you, but I certainly feel better."
