Anna had a lot on her mind lately. The good news was that classes for the semester were over. That meant she had even more time on her hands to think of the stuff on her mind! It was a little frustrating. So she thought she’d grab a few books for some summer reading. She had a list, and was collecting the titles on it when she came across a woman she’d met once before. A woman who’d said something really strange to her, but something that made sense in the long run.
She moved over to the table, hugging the books she was carrying to her chest. Was this the same woman? Who had the premonition last fall?
Vanessa had a regular time for her readings at Tessa’s bookshop and it was the most popular for her, which was amusing considering her other places were those dedicated to alternate therapies and ideas. When she felt a presence near her she looked up and smiled, “Hello Anna, how are you?” she asked softly, “Happy I think” she added with a wink. There was no premonition needed for that. She knew school was over and that Anna was a student.
Anna paused, a little surprised that the woman remembered her name. Then again, the woman was psychic, right? Maybe she’d seen or felt more to this than meets the eye? Anna broke into a smile, though, and moved forward. “Very happy, actually.” She said, coming closer. “I’ve got… well, I’ve just been offered a job.”
It was rare Vanessa forgot a name, possibly part of her gifts or just a good memory either way it came in handy. “Oh how wonderful, a bit of a career change?” she asked, Anna was easier than most for Vanessa to read because of how open she was in general.
“I haven’t had much of a career,” Anna’s cheeks went a little pink. “I was thinking about using my Art History major to work in a museum or a private collection, but I really liked being part of this music video thing I did a while ago… and now I’ve been offered a job working on this movie.”
“Well that is wonderful and it sounds like it’s the start of a career change to me” Vanessa told her with a smile, “I have no doubt that you will be successful, you have a bright aura”
“Really? You think so?” Anna asked. She moved closer, slipping into the chair opposite Vanessa’s. “Because I… Well, I’ve been really scared about the whole thing. And sort of second-guessing myself. You know? I guess I just need a second opinion. One who’s not biased.”
“Of course, that’s understandable. It’s a very different career path, so it would make sense that you’re apprehensive. But you’re a positive young woman so I can only imagine you’ll make it all work” Vanessa told her.
“Well, if you really think so…” Anna wasn’t entirely convinced, but she felt a lot better than she’d felt a few minutes ago. After all the woman was psychic, right? She would know. And she’d warn Anna, too, if there was something dangerous in this line of work, or something.
“I think you need to trust your own instincts more” Vanessa said, “Part of you knows if a decision is a good or a bad one, learn to hear it and trust it” There was no warning bells hitting Vanessa when Anna spoke of her new opportunity which led her to believe it could indeed be the right path for her.
Anna nodded. She let that bounce around in her head for a few minutes, then turned to the other woman with a bright smile. “I think you’re right. I think it’s a good one. And I’m going to follow it.” She stood. “Thank you so much!”
“You're welcome, I hope to see you again soon” Vanessa said, “Either in person or on a movie poster” she smiled.
Anna laughed. “I love it.” She gave Vanessa a bright smile, then headed back off to find the book she was looking for.
