Percy couldn’t believe that the semester was almost over. It felt like only yesterday that it had started and now they were getting more and more information drilled into them on top of more homework and it was starting to get a little overwhelming for Percy. Considering his learning disabilities, he needed to focus extra hard and there were certain things that would distract him lately; such as the dreams and Annabeth.
It wasn’t that Annabeth kept him so distracted that he couldn't study, because they often got together to study together, but when he wasn’t with her he wished that he was and that would often distract him from his homework.
At the moment, he was walking towards the library to do exactly both of those things. He and Annabeth had planned to meet up and do some studying then get something to eat before maybe doing a little more studying, depending on how much for done before their dinner break.
--
Annabeth felt like she was losing her mind. The end of the semester meant a lot of things to her. Finishing off the semester strong was important to her. There were plenty of tests and some projects to finish, and it felt like there was hardly enough time to finish it all
Much like Percy, Annabeth found herself distracted ( in a good way ) by him. Now that they had sorted things out, Annabeth found herself distracted more and more by him. It was definitely new for her, and she was enjoying every second of it. Her dreams hadn't really progressed any further. She tried to put those out of her head for the time being. The whole Luke aspect was something she struggled with. They weren't the same person, but she still wished there was a way to fix it.
Annabeth was already waiting for Percy at the library. She had wanted to get an early start so that
maybe they wouldn't have to study again later. Not that she would have minded, but she had other plans, too.
--
Percy wasn’t exactly sure what he and Annabeth were exactly, but he did know that he liked spending time with her and they had sort of gone on a date when he’d brought her to Disneyland. It had been an expensive first date, but he didn’t mind and he thought Annabeth was worth it. If he got up the nerve, while they were studying, he was planning on asking her out again for after finals so they could celebrate.
Entering the library, he glanced around to see if she had arrived yet and spotted her at the table they had used the last time they had studied together.
“Oh no, you started studying without me. How awful,” There was no mistaking the sarcasm in Percy’s tone as he approached the table and dropped his bag on top of it, a small smile upon his lips. “Have you been waiting long?”
--
Annabeth smiled when she heard his voice? Her head raising up from her work to look at him. “I knew you would be devastated, but I just couldn't help myself.” She tapped her pen onto the papers in front of her. “Lucky for you, though, I haven't been here long, and there's still plenty of studying left to do by both of us.”
She moved her stuff over so that Percy would situate himself at the table, too. “I figured we could study for an hour or so and then get something to eat before doing a little more studying.” At least she was getting a little bit better about taking a break.
“How much do you have to go over?”
--
“Well now I’m gonna be behind,” Not that she was even working on anything he had, but he couldn’t help but continue to tease her as he sat down and started pulling out his books and notebooks, “That sounds good. I’ll never say no to food. And I don’t really have that much. I did my homework for my digital classes since I need to do those on the computer. So it’s mostly math and science.” Math was probably Percy’s worst subject and had he not needed it as part of his business minor, he probably wouldn’t have even taken it.
-- “I've got to keep you on your toes, obviously,” she said with a smile. “I figured food was my best weapon.” Not that she had to twist his arm or anything to study, but she did know food would be a pretty awesome idea after studying for so long.
Annabeth may not have loved those subjects, but she did appreciate them. If only because some of it directly related to what she wanted to do with her life. “You know I can always help you if you want.” She shrugged a little. “I only like it because it's the means to an end with building.”
--
“I wouldn’t say no to extra help,” Especially if it meant getting to spend more time with Annabeth. “But, I think that’ll have to wait till next year since classes are almost over for this year.” Percy was looking forward to the summer so he could have a few months off to relax. “Speaking of the summer, have any plans for how you’re gonna spend it?” He was mostly curious if she was staying in town.
--
“You know, it never hurts to start early.” In their case it would be just continuing what they'd already been doing all year. Somehow she didn't think Percy would like that idea. Truth be told, she was looking forward to a little break. At least for a few days. Maybe a week. Annabeth smiled down at her school work and then looked back up at him. “Wellllll,” she started. “It just so happens I'll be staying here. I like where I'm living right now.” She leaned towards him. “So, maybe we could hang out once or twice,” she teased.
--
Percy couldn’t help the smile that spread across his lips when she said she was staying over the break, “Only once or twice? You have other plans for the summer?” He asked, still smirking, “Someone else to hang out with?” Percy didn’t know why it was easy to tease her like this, but any time he asked her out he got all tongue tied and didn’t know how to ask.
--
This new aspect of their relationship was fun for her. It made her stomach flutter and her heart race. What wasn't to like about it? She tried to act nonchalant about it all. “Oh, you know, I'm just a popular person. If you hadn't noticed.” Annabeth knew that wasn't true, and up until now friendships had been much harder for her to maintain.
“But I suppose if you really want to see me more than once or twice I can squeeze you in.” Annabeth had every intention of seeing Percy as often as she could.
--
“You must be so busy with everyone constantly hanging around you. Must be so tiring,” Percy wasn’t sure exactly where their relationship was, but he hoped that over the summer, without the distractions of school, they might be able to figure it out, “Gonna pencil me in?”
--
“Exhausting,” she said with a sigh. Annabeth leaned forward against the table and smiled at him. “I think I can manage that.” Picking up her pen, she marked his name in her book. “All done. I've got you down at least twice.” Annabeth was just glad that they weren't stuck in that awkward place they had been. She wasn't going anywhere, at the very least.
