Alucard was rather looking forward to celebrating his old friends birthday, helping Irisa plan the party was good fun as was teasing her about her lack of barbecue skills. He’d arranged for the gazebo’s to be set up in Athos’ garden so that he and Integra would be able to join the celebrations without the nuisance of the sun harming them.
Integra had spoken with Irisa about it a few days prior but hadn’t really thought about it, she never stopped to think about the timing. She found Alucard, it wasn’t hard of course, she knew exactly where he was in their home. “Are you sure I’ll be fine?” she was nervous, she hadn’t had as much time as he had with the whole thing and the fact the sun was going to be up was nerve wracking.
“You will be perfectly fine” he assured her, moving to take her in his arms, “I promise you. I’ll get us into the house” his shadows could do that part, “And then the gazebo placement will allow us to join everybody on the patio for the celebrations. I’ve instructed them clearly and Irisa will ensure we have a path”
She laid her head on his shoulder and snuggled into his arms. “It'll be nice to be out. I Dislike being such a bother but it can't be helped.” Integra was honestly a little excited, she'd holed up like a hermit for well over a year now. She really needed to get over it. “Irisa made me promise to leave my guns at home so I didn't decide to shoot you for something. I feel she may know me rather well.”
“You are not a bother my love, I am sure the shade offered by the shelter will be welcomed by many” in fact he knew Athos would be pleased as the other man wasn’t overly keen on too much sun himself. “It will be good for you to go, overcome the idea of the daytime being forbidden to you” while it would harm her more than himself she would become strong enough for brief exposure eventually. “I feel she may indeed. I told her how you shot me when I pretended to be under the singing influence, though I believe she took your side in that conversation” he pouted a little.
A wry smirk curled Integra’s lips as she looked up at him. “Well I do enjoy being in one piece you know. I rather worry about the sun, though I do miss it.” It would do get good to get out of the house in the daytime. She'd come along but there were still a few roadblocks keeping her from going further. “Of course she did, I was in the right, as I so often am.”
“I rather enjoy you being in one piece too, I’d never risk you” he promised, he just wanted to encourage her to leave the house. It had done her good when they had gone on the car ride thanks to the coatings he’d had put on the cars. Tinted windows were definitely their friend. “I was simply trying to bring a little amusement to the day, I thought serenading you would be a good thing”
“Well, you'd never risk me in that way.” She teased him as she slid from his arms and settled in a chair, stretching out. “Yes well, I'm rather against such things.” She grinned at him.
“I've been trying to think of what to do with my time, by the by, since I'm just not up to father's stuff.” She drummed her nails on the arm of the chair.
“No, exactly” he smiled his predator smile before letting her slip away, taking a seat on her desk to watch her. “And now I know that” he smirked because it wouldn’t stop him doing something similar in future. It was too much fun.
“Oh? And have you come up with anything?” he asked interestedly.
That smile always made her grin, she rather enjoyed it. Even if some days it made her wonder just what he was up to. “Yes well it's not as if it will stop you if you are so inclined to do so.” She knew him rather well.
“I've decided I enjoy violence a bit more than I did before.” That was no real surprise. “there's mercenary work with focus on terrorists because there's a lot of that going on. Could stay home and be a mysterious patron of the arts. Or be legitimate and start an mma gym of my own.”
He actually laughed at that, “You do know me well” he told her with affection, they knew each other very well. That came from years of being around each other and more recently their more intimate connection.
“My beautiful and deadly Integra” he said running a finger down her cheek almost caressingly, he did love her own appreciation for violence. “You will thrive in whatever you chose to do, I am sure you would train the most incredible fighters” he added because he rather liked that idea.
She grinned at him, then leaned into his fingers. “You're terribly helpful at helping me decide you know. Because goodness knows if I choose the first you'll end up tailing me because I know you. You can't let me wander too far out of your sight.” Her eyes glittered, it wasn't as if she minded.
“Maybe I'll do both. Can't always run around hunting people. Variety is good after all. What do you think? And none of this whatever you decide, I want to know your opinion.” She gave him a Look.
Alucard shrugged, “I’m a protective person, even of people who I know can look after themselves perfectly well” He wouldn’t apologise for it and he knew Integra didn’t expect him to.
He inclined his head in acknowledgement of her request/demand, “I believe variety would be good for you. Opening your own academy will certainly help channel that need and being a mysterious patron is always rather fun”
If Integra minded, she’d have been long gone. He’d protected her since she was a young girl, she was used to it and didn’t mind his possessiveness when it came to her, either. She rather enjoyed it, anyways. “Well, I suppose that is one reason I love you.” she conceded, with a teasing smile.
She knew he let her make her own choices, but she did like his actual opinion too. Even if she had to pry it out of him with a crowbar. “A little bit of everything will keep me occupied, I suppose. The first will help keep my temper at bay, the second spends a little of my money and the last gives me something to do day to day. You’ll help, of course, from time to time?” she grinned up at him. He was busy with his own thing, she knew that, but well, she knew he couldn’t resist, either.
“Of course, do you really think I wouldn’t be keeping an eye on your anyway?” he smiled, “But a little of everything seems to be the way to go for you. It should certainly keep you busy and occupied”
She smiled at him and nodded. “Then a little of all three.” she mused, wondering just what he thought of it all. She’d gone from happy to sit behind a desk (moderately so anyways) to more than happy to sell her services to rid the world of stupid, evil people because it suited her whims for the time being. The world really was a strange place.
