Constance was doing her best to stay out of the way of the latest craziness that hit Orange County, it was like something out of a movie but then everything happening in America at the moment was like that. Or a horror story. She’d left the relative safety of her apartment to go to the hotel and see if anybody needed anything, she couldn’t leave them to fend for themselves. It didn’t feel right and she could take care of herself. Mostly.
Rounding a corner she stopped when she noticed a group of stormtroopers who had stopped a young woman who seemed to be holding them off using some kind of magic. However Constance noticed one trooper approaching the girl from behind so, without really thinking, she ran at him with a shout and knocked him over before he could get to the girl.
Turning when she heard the loud thud and subsequent clatter of a body to the fall, Wanda gasped as she saw a woman standing over the Storm Trooper on the floor. Before he could get up, Wanda quickly entered his mind and made him unconscious, then turned and gave a giant mental push towards the remaining ones she had been facing. “Are you alright?” Wanda asked, stepping forward to touch the other woman’s arm.
“I think so” Constance said, not quite believing she’d just done that, “Are you?” she asked, “They didn’t hurt you did they?” The girl was young Constance noticed which made her worry more despite it being rather obvious she could look after herself. Constance didn’t know how she’d knocked out all the troopers but she must have.
“Not yet. Thank you for that,” Wanda towards the Trooper on the ground before her eyes caught movement on the ground from where the others lay. “I uh...don’t suppose you had any more of a plan than that, did you?” she asked, slowly backing away with her hand still on the other woman’s arm and keeping her eyes on the Storm Troopers as they started to right themselves.
“Run?” Constance said before gripping the younger girls arm and tugging as they both started running away from the now waking troopers. They ran hard and fast for a while before Constance got a stitch and it looked like they weren’t being chased, “I need to join a gym” she breathed with a bit of a smirk.
Wanda followed the woman’s lead and they both ran as far and fast as they could. When it looked like they weren’t being chased any more, she moved to stand them both in an alley and out of sight. “You should see if they are doing a buy one get one free and I would join you,” she joked, stepping to the side to look around the corner and down the street to see if any of them were following. “Are you ok?” she asked, looking back at the woman.
“Other than being embarrassingly out of shape I’m fine. Are you?” she asked, “I don’t know what came over me but I couldn’t have let them gang up on you like that. I can’t stand bullies especially armed ones”
Wanda smiled at the woman and nodded. “I am fine, thank you for helping when you did. It was very brave,” she told her. “I am Wanda, nice to meet you,” she said, peaking around the corner.
“Constance” she replied, “Nice to meet you too. Not everyday you have to run away from actual evil stormtroopers. I think I saw a message online about the Bakery being a safe haven. If we make it there we might be alright?” she suggested.
Wanda nodded, she’d seen something similar online. “That is a good idea, I will take you there and then I need to find my friend,” she said, Nat would know what to do in this kind of situation. She would take Constance to safety and then try to contact and find Nat, see if there was anything she could do to help. “We should try to avoid any more confrontations. Let’s go down the alleyways and try to stay out of sight,” she suggested, pointing to the alley behind them, away from the main street.
“Maybe there’ll be somebody at the bakery who can help you find your friend, it’s very dangerous to be going out on your own” Constance said, even if the girl could handle herself. “Alleyways it is, at least the worst we should have to deal with there are drunks” she joked with a wink before they set off on their way.
