Celaena loved parties! Especially ones for her, but who didn't? She'd invited all her friends over for games, dancing and general hanging out. She was currently by the pool with a drink in hand watching one of those said friends being thrown into the pool when someone came up behind her and spoke.

	Clary had been watching some guys playing pool when she saw the girl sat in the corner, keeping to herself. Making her way over, Clary smiled at the girl. 	"Thanks," Clary smiled and sat, noticing Rey moving her food. "Don't worry, I couldn't eat another bite! I didn't realise Celaena was putting on a full scale buffet like that!" she said leaning back and putting a hand on her stomach. She did feel like she'd eaten too much and now had a massive belly. "Sorry, habit. I'm a bit used to having to defend my food. I'm trying to break out of it. And also trying not to gorge myself when I have the chance. " Between Jakku and the lean times in Pheonix, Rey had an uphill climb. Too many weeks and months where she'd had to eat as much as she could to get through the days when she'd have nothing.

"I'm Rey." She offered her hand.

"Only child. I never even knew my parents," Rey explained. "So it's... survival. I've been in places where if I don't eat everything I get my hands on, I might regret it if I can't find food for a week after."

It was all so matter-of-fact to her. Sometimes she forgot that that wasn't normal. Sometimes she forgot her dream life and her waking life were different. She'd never starved in London or Phoenix no matter how hard it had gotten, not like she had on Jakku.

	Wanda had met Celaena at the bakery they both liked to frequent and they'd been in the queue the other day when she had mentioned her birthday party and it being a great place to meet new people. Turning towards the voice, Wanda smiled and shook the new girl's hand. "Hello Izzy, nice to meet you. I am Wanda," she looked across the room at where Celaena was chatting and laughing with someone Wanda wasn't familiar with. "Yes, thanks. I am having an ok time. I uh...I do not know many people here, but Celaena is certainly having a good night," she grinned as Celaena laughed a joke she assumed the other person had said.

"Yes, I have been to the bakery many times. You work there, is that right?" she asked, returning her attention to Izzy.

"Wanda, that's a pretty name and I'm guessing from the accent that you're Russian? I apologise if I've insulted you, accents aren't my thing and on top of that my European geography is awful" she grinned, "Cel always has a good time" she smiled fondly at her friend.

"I do, yeah. I manage the second location" she was proud that she could say that, "What about you? What do you do?"

"Thank you," Wanda replied with a little smile. "Not at all, you are right, Russia is where I am from, but not for some time now. I have been here for nearly 2 years and studying at UCI," she said.

"Being a manager is a hard job, no? I cannot imagine doing that," she shook her head. "I study neuroscience at UCI, next year will be my last year though so I should start looking for more job opportunities soon I guess," she shrugged.

"Well we've obviously not put you off if you've stayed here" Izzy grinned at her, pleased with herself that she'd been able to recognise the accent.

"It can be hard at times but I love it. Discovering the bakery was the best thing that happened to me, I found my calling" Izzy eyebrows rose, "Oh wow, so you're a brainiac then" she winked, "But seriously that's impressive, I cannot imagine understanding half of that. Science was not a strength of mine"

Wanda grinned at Izzy and shook her head. "Nope, not put off at all," she told her. "Although I have been worried that people might think I am not approachable because of my accent. It is quite strong. I am most grateful to Celaena for inviting me here," she admitted with a little shrug.

"Oh do not say that," Wanda chuckled lightly. "It sounds like you have skills that I do not. Working with customers cannot be easy and I envy you your patience," she told the girl.

"Most Americans love accents and you speak English fluently so I wouldn't worry too much about that" Izzy told her, "And your accent is particularly nice" she added with a smile.

"I surprise myself sometimes I have to admit, but I've not hit any annoying customer yet. Thankfully most people who come into the bakery are lovely" she grinned, "Do you have an area you'd like to move into? Like teaching or research or something?"

	"Oh, thank you very much," Wanda grinned and dropped her chin, not all that used to compliments. Laughing at Izzy's joke, she wondered if the prospect of hitting a customer had ever actually crossed the other girl's mind. "You're welcome" Izzy said, she gave and received compliments a lot because she believed in that kind of thing.

Had she asked, Wanda would have learned that there had been a couple of times she wished she could hit a customer, but generally she and the customers were pleasant. "Personally I think you'd be really popular, you have enthusiasm and a sexy accent, kids would love you"
