What: Moon Kingdom talk.
When: Recently, but before that terrible thing with Rarity.
Where: Somewhere in Irvine.
Rating: Low. These two may be my least offensive characters.
Status: Complete. :v
When Setsuna had seen that another person was dreaming of a Moon Kingdom, she'd been quick to reach out. She'd been able to get the man's number from Michiru, and had used that to set up a meeting in a café in Irvine. He'd seemed rather interested in discussing the dreams, even if he hadn't initially put much stock in them.
She'd arrived early, something that seemed to be happening more and more as her powers started to awaken. It gave her time to think, at least – the man's face had seemed so familiar... she just couldn't place it quite yet. Maybe it was part of that massive inrush of memories the Time Key had given her?
It truly was a mystery.
When he arrived, it clicked, and she had to fight the urge to bow. Prince Endymion. Here. Dear gods, it was like this place was attracting them all... she pushed the thoughts aside, rising from her seat to greet him. "Mamoru-san?"
"Like I told your friend, I'm fine with just being Mamoru. Must be the American part of me."
It'd be odd, but the Time Guardian could cope. She nodded, slipping back into her seat and finally catching the attention of one of the waitresses. Talk was easier over coffee, at least when you were tired out from teaching armies of idiots who thought their own country was the centre of the universe.
"So. It's normal to dream of a Moon Kingdom?" Mamoru had to admit, this was bordering on the ridiculous. How did that even work? Surely they would've seen evidence of something like that during the Moon landings...
Setsuna nodded. "Normal enough. You're hardly the only one..." she wasn't going to come out and say who he was straight away. That'd be one way to scare the poor bastard off. "The Silver Millennium and its peaceful rule seems to have appeared to at least four of us in these dreams. Myself, my two comrades, and you."
Actually, she wasn't sure if Michiru had actually had those dreams. She'd have to ask her later... she was fairly certain that Haruka had, though, considering how much she'd complained. Especially about the dresses.
"It's not the only dream I've had... there's one where there's a woman begging me to find the legendary silver crystal. I don't even know what that means," other than the whole 'find a shiny thing, possibly get a reward' aspect of it all, of course. "She looks... so familiar. I can't put my finger on it."
That was a phrase that kept recurring. A symbol of hope, a beacon of light – the Moonlight and the love of the person who held it, all tied into one. The most beautiful light in all the universe, in Setsuna's eyes. "Probably the Moon Princess."
That made something click in Mamoru's mind. If that woman in his dreams was the Moon Princess, then... "If that's her, then... is she trying to reach out to me? I could swear we were... involved somehow."
More importantly, what was Usa going to think of it all? The woman might've looked so much like her, but... she hadn't had anything even remotely resembling one of these dreams. The insane 'octopus stole my lunch' dreams clearly didn't count.
Here came the hard part. Setsuna cleared her throat, trying to put the words in some semblance of order before speaking. "That's... because in that life, you were Prince of the Earth. Endymion. She watched you from afar, and... the two of you fell in love."
There was a moment of silence. Mamoru arched an eyebrow. "As in... Endymion the sheep-herder? From the Greek myths?"
Setsuna nodded. She should've known he'd know of the myths – he was an educated man, after all. "Our theories at the moment are that the names came from something implanted by the Moon Kingdom. It seems to have happened millennia before the Greeks ever existed... it's possible that you and Serenity were implanted within people's minds, just so it'd be easier to accept you when you were finally reborn."
This just got more and more ridiculous. So, not only were they from the Moon, they were part of mythology too? Mamoru ran a hand through his hair, trying to let it all sink in. "A few weeks ago, I would've dismissed this as something crazy... but now, it almost makes sense."
Maybe if he had a few more of those dreams, it'd start making even more sense. He could live in hope, right? It wasn't like it'd hurt or anything... "I'd like to keep comparing our dreams, if at all possible. Considering they seem linked..."
"Of course." Setsuna scribbled down a few numbers for him, handing the piece of paper over. "This are just mine and Haruka-san's numbers. He's been having the dreams for longer than I have, so he may actually know more..."
Wait. The racer was in on this too? That was... unexpected. He could only assume that he was one of the two 'comrades' Setsuna had mentioned earlier – perhaps Michiru was the other? Considering how close the three of them seemed, it was a definite possibility. It seemed a strange combination, though... a teacher, a racer and a violinist.
"I'll be sure to contact one of you if I have any more." Honestly, he had to wonder what Haruka could even have in terms of the dreams. All the guardians he'd seen had been female, so... he was honestly at a loss. "Seems pretty inevitable in this place."
"Keep an eye out for any items. That happens to some of us," and she'd show him, really, but it was fairly important to keep their identities under wraps. You couldn't be as effective a hero if everyone knew who you were - she had no idea how Stark managed it. "In your case, it'd likely be some form of armour or magical item..."
Mamoru nodded, trying to remember exactly what he'd been wearing in the dream. There'd definitely been a sword, and armour, but... that was clearly more than a few lifetimes ago. There was no telling what he'd end up getting. "I'll let you know. With any luck, won't be anything that'll freak out my girlfriend."
If possible at all, he was going to keep Usagi out of this. She didn't need to be caught up in whatever this insanity was.
