Who: Margo Hanson & Eliot Waugh When: Backdated: Sunday, April 16th. Early Afternoon Where: Eliot's Apartment What: Margo has come to surprise Eliot Rating/Warnings: Mostly Family Friendly Status: Complete
As she dragged one of her suitcases down the hall towards Eliot’s apartment, Margo wished that she had simply sent her things ahead, but had she done that she wouldn’t have been able to surprise her best friend as she was doing now. Eliot had no idea that she was coming nor that this wasn’t simply a visit, but that Margo was moving to Orange County.
It hadn’t been a hard decision to make; after all, New York had simply gotten boring without Eliot and she missed him too much to be separated by an entire continent. So she had made the decision to pick up and move as he had and now she was standing in front of his apartment door.
Excited to see her best friend again, Margo knocked at the door and waited.

Eliot rolled over in his bed, burying his head further into the pillow because there was no way that anyone who actually knew him would be knocking on his door right now. Well except for Margo but she was back in New York, safe from fucked up dreams of being a murderer that pushed you into a complete and total bender for a reason other than wanting to have fun. “Go away! I’ve already heard about Jesus! We’ve agreed to be mutually indifferent!” He shouted, wincing at the way it made his head spin.
Whoever it was clearly wasn’t going away anytime soon judging by them knocking again and he sighed as he got up, grabbing his sheet to wrap around himself as he made his way to the door. Maybe it would be one of his new friends come by to party some more. That would cure this mammoth hangover he was suffering from. Or at least make him not care about it anymore.
He pulled open the door and a smile crossed his face. “Bambi. Please tell me I’m not hallucinating you. Or actually - don’t tell me that. I wouldn’t mind hallucinating you. One of the better hallucinations I’ve ever had.”
***
Margo’s plan to surprise Eliot had consisted of refraining from posting selfies and other photos on Instagram that would be too telling about where she was during her cross country drive and as a person who was usually very connected to Instagram and SnapChat, it had been extremely difficult. It was worth it though to see the smile on Eliot’s face when he opened the door. “Don’t worry sweetie, I’m completely real. Although, I wouldn’t blame you if you did hallucinate me.” She had a feeling that something was going on with Eliot and she fully intended to make sure that he was alright, but for the moment she was going to be selfish and enjoy this moment of being reunited with her best friend.
“So, are you going to invite me in or are we just going to stare at each other all fucking morning?” She smirked, quirking a brow as she gazed up at Eliot.
***
Eliot had to keep up a front that was everything was alright as long as the door was open, not wanting any of his neighbors to see even the slightest hint of weakness in him. “Since when have you ever needed an invitation anywhere?” He said, a little smirk of his own on his face as he turned and walked away from the door, looking for his kimono in the wreck of clothes on his floor. He hadn’t taken the time to clean up after himself lately so his clothes were everywhere. He’d get around to it eventually, once he’d gotten his dreams under control. Or at least his reaction to them.
***
Once Eliot had left the doorway, Margo entered behind him, leaving her suitcases and purse against the wall before closing the door, “Sweetie, it looks like your closet vomited in here. I knew I should have come out here sooner. This is almost traumatizing.” She would have to help Eliot clean up at some point, but that wasn’t important at the moment. She watched as Eliot searched for his kimono, completely unphased by his nudity, considering it wasn’t the first time she had seen him in such a state before, “How can you find anything in this mess?”
***
“It takes some time but I’ve been managing to find what I need. I haven’t had much need of dressing up.” Eliot said looking at her over his shoulder. Felix hadn’t seemed all that upset over Eliot not being dressed when he’d come by. Granted his clothes hadn’t been all over to the extent they were now but the apartment wasn’t anywhere near how he normally kept his things. “So how long before I have to go back to my dull dreary life that you aren’t a part of anymore?” He asked, moving things so that she could sit down beside him.
***
“Haven’t been dressing up? Oh Sweetie, that sounds awful.” She looked at him, a faux pout upon her lips before they turned up into a smile at his question. This was the part she had been waiting for. The part where she told him that he wouldn’t have to be parted from her again. “Actually. I won’t be subjecting you to that any time soon. This isn’t just a visit.” She sat down beside him, resisting the urge to lean into him for the moment because she wanted to see his face when she told him, “I’m here to stay.”
***
“Careful - you’ll get wrinkles from pouting too much.” Eliot teased her. “And we both know how awful that would be. You’d be utterly miserable,” and so would he but he wasn’t going to admit it. Not right now.
He knew his confusion was obvious on his face when she said it wouldn’t be any time soon but then he grinned as she said she was here to stay. “What could possibly have convinced you to do that? I thought you’d never leave the stores in New York,” he teased as he reached out to wrap his arm around her and pull her to him in a hug.
***
“Don’t even talk about wrinkles. Those are a long way off.” Margo had a very extensive facial regimen for just that reason. She may have only been in her mid twenties, but she was not going to let her skin go to hell just because she was still young. If you didn’t want wrinkles, you had to work at that.
As Eliot hugged her, she couldn’t help the grin that spread across her lips. This was the reaction she had been hoping for, “New York may have stores, but it doesn’t have you anymore. And it was getting too boring. Besides, this is California. There should be even better stores out here.”
***
Eliot laughed at that comment, shaking his head. “You and I both know it is never too early to start thinking about wrinkles. Which reminds me...we’re going to need to go shopping to find things that will actually work out here for my skin. I’ve been making do but that will only work for so long Bambi. You arrived at the perfect time. As usual,” he said giving her a gentle squeeze.
“Definitely better swimwear stores I think. You’ll love the beaches. Not quite as nice as Ibiza but still nice.”
***
“Then we’ll have to plan a shopping spree asap,” There was no doubt about it; Margo had made the right decision in moving out to California. Now she would be surrounded by her bff and sun and even more famous people and could begin her new California lifestyle, which she thought would suit her better than New York had.
