Anna was upset, and rightfully so. She didn’t have any more answers now than when she first heard about him falling into the coma. It’d been far too long. She was really worried about him. And she’d gone out to take her mind off of things. But maybe she’d gotten a little carried away? Because by the time she got home, she was blurry. First she couldn’t figure out why her key didn’t fit in the door, then she realized she’d been using the wrong key. It wasn’t until after she got the door unlocked and open that she realized this was the Arendelle house, and not her house. How drunk was she?
Well, now she was here… and she didn’t want to just turn around and leave… right? She stumbled inside and pushed the door closed behind her. “Elsa?”
Something woke Elsa, she wasn’t sure what but something had. Listening for a moment she heard the slightest of noises from the front door and tensed. Glancing at Kate she let her wife sleep before easing from the bed and moving softly down the stairs, hands already forming ice shards at her sides. They disappeared when she heard the gentle voice of her sister calling her name, “Anna?” she said rushing the last few steps and moving to her sister, “Are you alright?”
“I'm okay,” Anna insisted, using a slurred, stage whisper. She dusted her hands on her pants, and her keys fell to the floor. “Dang! Sorry!” She stumbled when she went to pick them up and nearly fell over.
“You are not alright. You are very drunk” Elsa said, catching her sister and supporting her as she led her inside. There was no use trying to traverse stairs in the state Anna was in so she led her into the living room to lay on the couch. She brushed hair from her sister’s face, “Oh Anna, maybe you should be staying here for a while anyway” Until Wash woke up anyway, if he did.
“No no, I really--I mean, I’m really okay. I’m okay. I just… maybe need to sit down.” She hoped she wouldn’t throw up all over Elsa’s nice carpet. The Arendelle household didn’t deserve to see all the rum and cokes she’d had to drink tonight. Anna leaned against her sister a bit, and followed the way to the sofa. As she laid down, her eyes automatically closed. “...Stefan and Lexi were working, so I went out. I didn’t want to be alone.”
“You know you can always come here” Elsa told her sister, leaning close to press a kiss to her forehead, “I wouldn’t want you to be alone, you can stay here for a while if you like. I can stay home with you, we can keep each other company” she continued stroking Anna’s hair soothingly as she spoke, sitting down by the sofa as she did.
“I don’t want you to stay home.” Anna insisted, her words slurred and slow as they came out. She was pretty drunk, and sleep was starting to tug at the corners of her mind. “You have an important job. I don’t want to be a bother. I’ll just stay until the morning. Just--just until the morning. Then I’ll be okay.”
“You are not and never will be a bother” Elsa told her forcefully but kindly, “You are my sister and I will always be there when you need me, no matter what”
“Mmm.” Anna said, and forced her eyes open. She couldn’t help but give a little smile at her sister’s words. That was so kind of her to say. “I love you, Elsa. You know that, right? Not just when I’m all drunk and fall down in the foyer of your house.”
Elsa smiled, taking her sister’s hand as she continued to stroke her hair, “I love you too Anna, more than anything” she promised.
Anna closed her eyes for a moment, letting the feel of her sister’s hand in her hair soothe her. Then her face scrunched up and she choked back a sob. A drunken sob, as if the severity of the situation just occurred to her again. “What if he never wakes up?” She asked, lifting a hand to her face. “What if he’s gone forever?”
“Sssshhhh” Elsa soothed, taking Anna’s hand from her face and linking their fingers, “You mustn’t think like that, he needs you to be strong for him. He’ll wake up, you have to believe that”
With a nod, Anna let those words sink in. He needs you to be strong for him. That she could do. Anna had been strong for a lot of people in her day, and her love for Wash was even stronger. She could handle this. She had to. “Okay.” She said sleepily. “Okay.”
“I will be strong with you Anna, I will always be strong with you” Elsa promised as she continued to stroke her sister's hair and try to lull her into sleep.
Anna gave a tired nod, though her eyes were already closed again. She found herself yawning once, then the world slipped away as she drifted off to sleep.
