Forcible and extremely chaotic change.
Who: Illyana, Romany(OR IS SHE)
What: Reading the Cards, Jobs, Neena's disappearance and Foreshadowing!
When: Thursday afternoon!
Where: Romany's Magic Shop.
Ratings/Warnings: PG-13 for Tarot Cards?
Status: Complete.
Romany kept drawing cards, over and over. Her nose would wrinkle up, and she'd shuffle and start over again. Nothing made sense. The cards were speaking to her, but they were speaking rubbish. Flip. Flip. Flip.
"'ell.."
The door to the magic shop opened, and a blonde woman stepped inside. She walked around the store a bit, looking over the stock and the various items on display, before walking up to the counter.
The cards currently drawn didn't seem to make any sense to her, either, "I think they are mocking you."
"Oh, they do that from time t'time," Romany replied, biting her lip and starting all over. "They 'ave this tendency t'warn me o'shite but only after the fact, an' right now they're bein' all bollocks."
Maybe she’d had one lie too far.
"If they are doing that, then it is because they know that you already knew it was coming. The Cards like to mock us when we do not use our own intuition to solve things. They are a good tool, but they would rather be used appropriately than have their time wasted telling you things your insides already know."
Illyana frowned at the cards. Aside from the fact that they were obviously conflicting and ‘being all bollocks’, it didn't appear to be a good reading, "I hope you are not reading these cards for yourself."
Romany grunted. She more or less had been hoping they'd tell her something else. Anything else. She glanced up at Illyana, "Oh, not for me. I already know what those'd say. Y'know 'ow to read, duck?"
"I had a great deal of time on my hands the past three years, doing anything at all that would distract me from dying," Illyana pointed out. She motioned to the three cards Romany had pulled, "That one there is telling you that you do not trust them to tell you the truth anyway. They know it."
She indicated the second card again, "That one there, the tower. Forcible and extremely chaotic change. Things will be destroyed before they can be rebuilt. This last card warns the person of lies. See, where the woman pours some water into the lake but also pours some onto the shore behind her back."
Illyana shook her head, "The water should all be poured into the lake. The lake is being lied to. It does not know the entire situation. It does not see the second hand hiding."
"Y'ave no idea how accurate y'are, duck." Romany tilted her head, studying the girl even more closely. This was interesting. She certainly seemed to know her stuff, and to be frank, her aura was spectacular.
"Well, and you would know. That is why they are so upset with you." Illyana shook off the daze that she always got when she focused too hard on magical things, and held her hand out to Romany, "I am Illyana."
"Romany," She replied, taking her hand and shaking it. "What brings yeh t'me magic shoppe?"
Her phone beeped, but she ignored it.
"Frankly, I am looking for work," Illyana got right to the point. She gestured around the shop, "This is probably some of the only work I think I could be suited to. I do not think they would like me very much at the local Wal-mart."
The blonde heard the beep of the phone, but it wasn't really her business if Romany decided to ignore her own phone or not, so she shrugged a shoulder, "My house mate, Katya, is stuck in a bell jar like some kind of bug or fairy, and will not be able to pay the bills. So I thought I would try to make some money in her stead."
Well, she was blunt, like her brother. Romany tilted her head, then blinked. This girl knew Kitty? "Kitty is stuck? Is she all right?"
"Well, if you consider having to live in a fish tank like some sort of circus side show to be fine? Then yes. She is fine." Illyana snorted through her nose, and sighed, "Her phasing ability is stuck. In the phase mode. She will drift apart like POOF" And with that, her hands made an exploding motion and then wiggled in the air, "Into thin air."
After a pause and a tilt of her head she added, "Or she would, if she were not in fish tank. So. The science people are working on something. Hopefully she will think solid thoughts until it actually works and she goes solid again, da?"
"Feck," Romany replied, dryly. "Is she safe? Maybe we could do somethin'..." She didn't really have any ideas what, but the girl didn't seem alarmed, so she turned the conversation back, "Y'want a job?"
"She is safe for now. And yes, I would like a job. I will work whatever hours you need. I am not a citizen of this country yet, but I do have a green card and all of the other things you would need for me to be employed here legally."
Illyana didn't seem alarmed, no, but Illyana never really seemed alarmed about much of anything. She did, however, look like something was finally clicking in her head. The shop owner had introduced herself as Romany and had a british accent, and this was a very small world if the woman was who Illyana thought she was, "You are Romany Wisdom?"
"Yes," Romany nodded her head. She was suspicious, but the girl also knew Kitty and Kitty had a really, really big mouth, "Me idiot brother is away, thank goddess. Even his wife ‘ad to leave. The orgies ‘ave been fun, though.”
Her phone beeped again, and she looked at it, “Feck, leave me alone.”
Illyana looked a little suspicious now, too, but more that Romany hadn't somehow picked up via the cards and other means that something was wrong. She lowered her voice, "You know she is missing, Da? we have been trying to find her."
“...Wot?” Romany furrowed up her brow, “Balls...”
That would explain certain things. She didn’t know if she was upset that she was out of the loop, or upset about what it all meant.
"I am not sure how much more I can say here. She has many concerned friends." Illyana wasn't sure she was one of them. She'd mainly just gotten mixed up in all of this, and had few memories of Domino aside from the dream she'd just had of some kind of war. Even then, she'd barely been involved, since she'd spent most of it stuck in Limbo at war with demons.
"It is likely there will be some kind of rescue if we can find her."
"Hrmm," Romany said with a grunt. This was bad. Bonkers, nutters. VERY BAD.
"Well y'seem t'know 'ow to read the cards, an' a lot besides. Want t'start tomorrow?"
Her phone beeped again, "Feck, I need to take this."
She picked it up and walked into the back. She paled a little, speaking quietly into the phone, "You're serious? They sent the real one? Do you think they knew or is it just a coincidence? Yes, I understand." She hung up, and walked back to the front, "In fact, y'can mind t'store for a few days while I try t'track 'er down. 'ow does that sound?"
It sounded incredibly suspicious, but Illyana nodded, "You will need to teach me how your inventory system works, the register, and where to put the money at the end of the night."
This was an interesting turn of events! She tilted her head to the side, and then wrote a number down on a piece of paper, "You may wish to call Danielle. She has been trying to coordinate a rescue, as well."
“Thank ya. I might just do that.”
