Caroline was in desperate need for some retail therapy. Her life was beyond crazy, not that that was anything new. But the blonde barely had time for a social life. She hadn’t seen some of her friends in ages and she knew things were just going to get crazier, with both graduation and her wedding coming up. Still she needed to make time to see her friends and Elsa was one of them. It was true that Caroline was closer with Anna, but she still considered Elsa a friend. Shopping while hanging out with Elsa seemed like the perfect plan to her.
“Are you looking for anything specific?” she asked her shopping buddy for the day as they walked into the mall.
When Caroline had suggested shopping Elsa had agreed straight away, she needed time away from the office and work and it was always nice to catch up with friends. It was thanks to her little sister that she’d met Caroline but she got along well with the other woman and enjoyed her company.
“Maybe something for the next charity event I attend” she replied, “I could do with something new. And you?” she asked.
“Oh! A dress?!” Caroline’s eyes lit up. She loved dress shopping. “Nothing in particular. Maybe a new purse or some shoes. Whatever I find,” she said with a laugh. There was still plenty of time before shopping for her graduation dress. Yes she knew she’d be wearing a robe, but she needed the perfect dress to wear under it. Plus party after. So there were no major events she needed to shop for at the moment.
Elsa smiled and nodded, “Yes a dress. Networking requires that I look the part and while I could wear a suit I do prefer dresses” she admitted, and since money wasn’t really an issue she could choose some gorgeous outfits which was definitely a bonus. “A dress for me and accessories for you it is then” she grinned.
“Perfect!” Caroline didn’t have to worry much about money. She could always compel herself discounts, which she did more often than she liked to admit. There was some guilt about it when she first became a vampire, but now it was just part of life. “What’s your next event?”
Luckily when shopping with Elsa there was little the other person had to pay for, it was just too easy for her to pay for everything when she could for her friends. “A charity auction I think followed by dancing and mingling, that sort of thing” Elsa tended to do at least one networking event a month, she tried not to do more than that.
“You’re life is so fancy,” Caroline commented a bit envious. “In my dreams there is always some type of dance, or party, or other event going on.” Most centered around the town. “I’m like always dressing up. But here I’m just your regular ol’college student.”
Elsa chuckled, “It’s mostly for work. Networking is important in business circles and charity events are used as networking opportunities. If you’d like to come with me anytime you’re more than welcome to” she offered, it might be more fun to have a friend along with her. Kate wasn’t overly keen on coming along most of the time.
“That’s a great idea!” Caroline could network too. After all she was planning on starting up her own business soon. “Know anyone newly engaged and without a wedding planner?”
“Not off the top of my head but I have no doubt you’ll get at least two or three leads for work if not more” Elsa promised, after all weddings always seemed to be happening in certain circles.
“Well just let me know the time and place and I’ll be there!” Caroline didn't really care that she already had a ton on her plate. Or that she and Peeta had agreed on her slowing down a bit. This was her future career after all. She’d manage.
“You’re on” Elsa said before grinning, “Which means we should get you a dress too” she added, “So let’s get shopping” If she had known Caroline was supposed to be slowing down she’d have probably kept quiet but there was no denying it would be a good opportunity for a budding business and of course Elsa couldn’t say that having a friend there wouldn’t be welcome. It was definitely the first positive outcome of the day and unlikely to be the last.
