Alucard knew Mother’s Day always reminded Integra of the loss of her own mother, so Alucard had decided that today they would spend the day together just enjoying each others company. It was harder now of course, there was no laying on the beach or going out for romantic meals. Instead he had to come up with different ideas, the one for today consisted of a drive along the coast. Thanks to tinted windows they could drive in the height of daytime and enjoy the view.
She'd been grumpy to start with but she relaxed after they got going. She always loved the coastline, and while she missed laying out under the sun, this was good too. She could see the sun reflecting off the water without getting burned by it. He knew how to help her find new ways to enjoy the world. “Have you ever wondered what it will be like in a hundred years?” She asked as she leaned on the window, watching.
“Not too different I hope” Alucard said, “However it ends up we’ll witness it together. I have no doubt we’ll still be here, unless things get too bad and we escape back across the pond” he added with a wry smile.
Integra turned to him to smile. “I'm sure we'll grow tired of this place eventually. I can't say I'd mind exploring Europe more too.” She laughed softly.
“I’m sure we will, even with all the crazy things which happen here it’ll lose it’s shiny edge eventually” Alucard agreed, “And Europe does hold so much potential” he winked at her.
Integra smiled and stretched her legs up to rest on the dash. She wasn’t worried about broken limbs anymore. “So, my heart, what shall we do to entertain ourselves?”
“Wreak havoc?” he suggested with an easy grin, “I’m rather fond of taking drives like this too, since we’ve adapted the cars it’s much easier to explore at all hours of the day”
“I do not think the people of the city would be too pleased if we wreaked havoc, though, it is appealing in it’s own right. I can practice and train against you but it’s not the same as throwing me off the deep end, as it were.” she smirked a little. If anyone had ever told her the mere idea of knocking heads together outside a ring sounded fun, she’d have laughed a little. Now she was here talking like it was no big deal.
“Usually one doesn’t care much about those they are wreaking havoc upon” Alucard told her with a smirk, he knew they wouldn’t really but the idea was somewhat appealing. He would love to see her leaving destruction in her wake, but for now they would have to be content with sparring against each other. And Irisa too of course, she was coming along well considering she had no otherworldly powers.
“Oh, right. Forgot about that.” she laughed a little bit, smirking a touch. She was amused at the thought, though. It got her wondering if this place would drop the next big thing on their heads to handle. She pushed off the glass. “I’d forgotten what daylight looked like, kind of silly actually”
Alucard chuckled, loving the cheeky smirk she gave. “Not silly at all love, I’m just thankful for the strength of the tint, I was hoping it would allow us to go on drives like this” he told her.
She grinned. “Worth every penny then.” She brushed her hand over the glass, fingers trailing lazily. “It's well worth it, thank you for this. I needed it”
“Absolutely” Alucard agreed with a nod, “You’re welcome. I thought it might help to get out and about today. And it’s been too long since we took a drive together”
Integra couldn’t help but agree. It was such a hard day for her, anyways. “You’re good at knowing what I need when I don’t know myself.” she smiled at him and leaned over to kiss him on the cheek. “Oh, for the record, I think I surprised Irisa the other day when I told her we consider her family.”
“I pride myself on it” he said, turning his head to press a kiss to her lips instead before chuckling at her next words, “Between you telling her that and me letting her drive one of the cars we’re going to give her a heart attack” he grinned. They both had a soft spot for the young girl and she was a good kid.
“Just don’t let her know how much half those cars are worth and she might not die of a heart attack on us.” she laughed softly. “It’s a rare treat you let anyone touch those cars.” she teased softly. Integra had her own collection after all, and they regularly fought over who’s to take when they went out. “We’ll have to get tinting done on the rest.”
“Well it was a once off, since she passed her firearm test” Alucard said, they’d also treated her to dinner and Alucard was having a gun made for her too. He was possibly spoiling her like a child of his own, but nobody seemed to mind. “Yes, they can all be done. Then we can pick and choose from any of them” he’d had most of his done but now Integra had seen the benefits they could start on her collection.
Integra had been too focused on trying to rearrange random business meetings to suit her new nocturnal habits. It had been a nightmare trying to get everyone to understand without bloody yelling at them. She had broken one office phone trying to deal with it. “That sounds like a delightful plan to me.” she smirked. She figured, treating Irisa like their own was a good plan, they didn’t need to worry about that tiny human phase. This was better.
Her latest stresses with those she worked with was another reason Alucard had thought a break was in order and with the cars done they could go for a drive whenever they liked. The joys of an underground garage meant the sun was never an issue getting into them. “Then that is what we will do” he said, squeezing her hand as they drove. This was definitely the good life.
