Who: Hermione and Ron
What: Couponing
Where: Starting at Hermione's place
When: Shortly after their conversation here
Rating: TBD
Status: In Progress

Encouraged or perhaps challenged by Ron's words, Hermione set to the task of researching coupons on her computer. She did some math and decided that the pay-by-the-month coupon site was worth the charge, especially if the savings were as good as promised. Once she was in, the challenge was in the bag.

A few more websites, a few more deals, and then her printer was working furiously to keep up with the savings she was planning. They would have to hit two different stores, but Hermione was convinced that she could get such good deals that the in-sure rebates would more than pay for her purchases.

Perhaps she was a little cocky, and perhaps she'd have to hone this new skill, but it seemed that saving money could possibly be one of her talents.

"C'mon, Ronald," she called to the lump on her sofa as she gathered the coupons from her printer and stood. "Let's go get paid to shop."

Ron basically lived to antagonize Hermione. That's what he was doing when he mentioned the couponing ladies on the television to her anyway. She took the bait though and before Ron knew it she was at the computer, doing math and printing coupons out. He decided to ignore her and go back to watching television... which was basically his answer to almost everything.

"Huh?" he grunted when Hermione called to him. He wasn't really the shopping type, but this might actually prove to be interesting. "Yeah, okay, but I hope you're not just getting all healthy stuff."

"Well, maybe I won't get all healthy stuff," Hermione said, smirking a little as she pulled her purse off of its hook and tugged it up onto her shoulder. "You'll have to tell me how my first attempt at couponing compares to those women on the television," she commented, walking over to the front door.

"Maybe you can give me some input on what I should stock on my shelves. Since you're the one doing most of the eating, anyway."

Ron pulled on his boots haphazardly and jumped up from the couch. He took a moment to stretch out his back and then made he way to fall in beside Hermione. "Have you ever even seen that show?" Ron asked. "Those women are insane, but they save a lot of money." He shrugged.

"Hey, I'm a growing man. I eat a lot, but yeah. I've got some input. You can skip on getting that disgusting yogurt that's always in your fridge." He grinned and then opened the door for Hermione and followed her out.

Hermione shrugged a little, pulling her keys from her purse. "I've only seen bits and pieces when you've watched it on the telly." She didn't pay a whole lot of attention while he was watching tv, as she was normally doing something else on her own. She always had a book or a Kindle in her hands, or she was researching on her computer or studying her notes from class.

She scoffed. "You may not like Greek Yogurt, Ronald Weasley, but it happens to be my favourite. So I'll continue buying it, thankyouverymuch." She grinned, then pulled the door closed behind them and locked it. "Besides, I've got a coupon for it."

Ron made a face when Hermione mentioned that the yogurt was her favorite. "Yeah, well.... maybe it's a good thing we have different taste in food otherwise you'd always be moaning at me about eating your yogurt. Instead it's always about the milk." He paused. "And the cereal." And just about everything else, but he didn't need to bring that up right then.

"Mmm." Hermione agreed with a nod. He did have a habit of putting the milk container back into the fridge with nearly no milk left inside it. "And ice cream." She added after a moment's thought.

"Well, I hope that I've gathered enough coupons here for the kind of junk foods that you eat." She gave him a grin. "I doubt I'll find coupons for fresh fruits and vegetables, but I've got some for frozen." Hermione hit the button that unlocked the doors on her car.

"And ice cream," Ron agreed. He really liked ice cream.

"Yeah, we'll see," Ron replied dubiously. The trip to the store was definitely going to be an interesting one.

Ron climbed into the car and got himself settled, making sure he was strapped in. "Hey, Hermione?" he asked.

She didn't really mind that Ron was over so often, or that he ate all of her food. She loved having him as company. Honestly, through all the time they'd spent together, all of their little adventures, she'd grown to think of him as far more than a friend.

Hermione slipped into the car and pulled on her own belt, then tuned the engine on. Her latest book on tape came on on the radio, so she reached up to turn it off. "Yes, Ron?"

There was definitely a reason why Ron spent so much time at Hermione's and it wasn't because he was tired of his parents house. His parent's house was actually pretty cushy. He had it good there, but the girl of his dreams didn't exactly live there.

"If I told you that I could do magic, would you laugh at me?"

Hermione turned to look at him, trying to figure out if this was some sort of joke. She took a moment before shifting the car into reverse, her eyes still on his face. "Probably." She answered, honestly.

"What kind of magic? Card tricks?" She asked, a smirk crossing her features. "I bet you I can figure out how you've done it. Whateveritis."

Ron hesitated for a moment. He wasn't sure how much he wanted to go into this. There was no guarantee that he'd be able to replicate the bathroom incident he had earlier.

"Not exactly. I mean more like magic that has latin words and wands and stuff."

Hermione's nose crinkled up a little. Now she'd started to back the car out of the parking spot to drive them to the store, and since she wasn't looking at him, she couldn't tell how serious he was. She assumed he was joking.

"Latin words and wands and stuff?" She repeated after him. "Sounds ominous. You haven't been watching those horror movies with the... what's it called? Necronomicon?"

"What? No! It's these dreams, Hermione. I dream about wands and magic and stuff and then the next thing I know there's a wand on my nightstand and it's blasting holes in the bathroom wall."

Hermione's head snapped to him. "You blasted a hole in my bathroom??"

"No," Ron replied quickly and defensively, but then his voice got really sheepish and he kind of shrunk down into his seat a little bit.

"I blasted a hole in Mum's bathroom. She was livid."

"I would be, too." Hermione said, turning her eyes back to the road. "Your poor Mum." Though, she couldn't help smirking just a little. She still wasn't sure they were really talking about... magic. Real magic?

"So... tell me more about this dream you had."

Ron couldn't help but grin when Hermione gave Molly a bit of pity out loud. Sometimes things really were just a big joke to Ron.

"You're just going to make fun of me," he replied.

"I swear I won't," Hermione said. She didn't really believe in fortune telling through dreams, but if it was important to Ron, she would be happy to listen.

"Well, it's not just one dream," Ron said hesitantly. He looked over at Hermione to see if she looked skeptical or not, but she seemed open so he decided to continue. "It's a bunch of dreams. In it I'm a wizard and you're a witch. We met on a train that was taking us to Hogwarts. Harry and I didn't like you at first, but then we saved you from a troll and thought you were pretty okay after that."

Hermione did her best not to laugh. "A troll? Really? Did it turn to stone when the sun came up?" The only bits she knew about trolls came from Tolkien's masterpieces of literature.

"I... I know there are a lot of people having these strange dreams," she began, "but I never thought that you would."

"No, I don't think so," Ron replied. He honestly didn't really know a whole lot about trolls except that they were really stupid.

"Why not me? I bet you'll have dreams one day too."

Hermione paused for a moment. "I don't know," she said with a sigh. "I don't believe in dreams being anything more than dreams."

"Doesn't matter what you think of the dreams. They happen to everyone and I say you're next." Ron gave her his best innocent grin.

Hermione shook her head a little. She didn't believe it, any of it, and she didn't want to be next. She pulled into the parking lot at the supermarket. It was the one to which she had the most coupons.
