Rating/Warning: Low/none

Tyler was willing to ignore the fact that he’d he’d woken up dead after being possessed by a traveller, and was even able to overlook Bonnie’s death by reminding himself that just because she was gone in the dreams didn’t mean she was gone here. He hadn’t spoken to her in ages, and they’d never really been close, but she was alive at least. No, none of that could compare with the pure joy that he felt at the fact that he was human again.

And he was willing to celebrate that fact too, which meant drinks with Jeremey. He couldn’t say that he’d ever expected to be friends with the youngest Gilbert, but his dreams had definitely warmed him up to him. He took a swig of his whiskey and coke. “It’s almost too good to be true. You have no idea how good it feels not to have to worry about the full moon anymore.”

Jeremy could relate to Tyler’s way of thinking at the moment. They were generally around the same place in their dreams, give or take a couple of months, but for the most part, Tyler’s thoughts had been Jeremy’s as well. When he’d first woken up from the same dream Tyler had recently had, he’d felt that sorrow at losing Bonnie and the momentary fear that she was really gone, even in the waking world. Once he’d taken some time to get his thoughts straight he’d remembered that just because something happened in the dreams, didn’t mean that it would happen in the waking world and it was unlikely that Bonnie had also died here, especially since she hadn’t been the one to have the dream.

Despite all of that, he still felt the loss of her, but not quite as hard as he did in the dreams, considering they hadn’t dated in the waking world and he had Myrcella here. And he was glad that he wasn’t acting the way he was in the dreams, because Jeremy didn’t really like himself, in the dreams, at the moment even if he did understand why he was acting the way he was.

“I know what you mean.” Jeremy said, taking a sip of his own drink. He had also never seen himself becoming friends with Tyler, not even in the dreams, but even there they had somehow become friends, even after their differences, which had mostly come as a result of their mutual feelings for Vicky.

Tyler wasn’t entirely sure if Jeremey did know what he meant. After all, it wasn’t like Jeremey ever had to go through the whole transformation process. Though he’d had to watch it, and it wasn’t like the dreams were necessarily kind of Jeremey either. They didn’t seem particularly kind to anyone.

Except for Klaus. Fucking Klaus.

He gave his head a bit of a shake as if he could shake the thoughts of the original hybrid from it. “Though, speaking of, you wouldn’t happen to know how I ended up dead anyway, would you?” Tyler asked, a little curious. “Last thing I remembered was you and Matt getting ready to torture that Traveller that was in me, and then the next thing I knew I was crossing over to the Other Side.”

Jeremy may have never had to go through a transformation exactly, but he’d had plenty of other things happen to him that he hadn’t been able to control, in the dreams. Such as when he’d become a Hunter and couldn’t control his urge to want to kill Elena and other vampires. That had been especially tough.

“Yeah, I guess Caroline’s mom had been there when it happened. She said Markos was punishing Julian for whatever he did and pushed him over the Mystic Falls line and it undid all the magic on your body.” When the Travelers had put up the anti magic barrier around Mystic Falls, Jeremy and Bonnie had been the only ones who could have still gone in without dying, not that they had wanted to while the Travelers were there.

Tyler couldn’t help but wonder just how long Julian had been in control of his body, and what exactly he’d done with it. He hadn’t meant for the Traveller to take it over permanently, but that, evidently, was something that couldn’t be helped. Still, he wasn’t entirely sure if he wanted to know whatever it was Julian had done in the hybrid’s body.

“Guess that explains how I woke up human,” Tyler said. It still didn’t seem real to him. He’d been resigned to a life-time of transformations.

“Feels like you’re the only one who came out on top,” Sure, Elena, Stefan and Ric had all come back from The Other Side as well, but they had lost Bonnie in the process. And Damon too, but Jeremy didn’t care about him. “You and Ric.” Alaric was one of the people from their dreams that Jeremy wished was part of their waking world. “So what are you going to do on your first full moon with no transformation?”

“I don’t think dream me is as happy about it as I am,” Tyler shrugged. “He liked being a hybrid.” And no doubt Tyler would have enjoyed being a hybrid too, if the dreams had been good enough to give it to him. Looking back, he should maybe be glad that they hadn’t. Having that taken from him would have sucked. He even found himself missing his increased werewolf abilities, though they were definitely not worth the monthly transformations.

“I’m going to take Blossom on a date,” Tyler said, grinning widely. “I don’t know what yet, but it’s gotta be special. Maybe it’ll even involve a moonlit walk at the end, because why the hell not?”

“Yeah, I think you’re right,” He could understand why Tyler would miss being a hybrid in the dreams, but it certainly wasn’t something that Jeremy would have ever wanted for himself. Jeremy’s enhanced abilities had come with the desire to kill vampires, but now that he could suppress that desire, he was perfectly fine with what he was.

“I’m sure she’ll love that. You guys should come over sometime. Hang out with me and Myrcella.” He said, taking a sip of his drink.

“I think she will too,” Tyler agreed. Something like a moonlit picnic, maybe. It was a shame that he and Blossom had never had a date on the full moon. Not a real one anyway, that didn’t involve her sitting outside of the cave that Tyler had spelled to keep him inside, reading to him. Of course, Tyler had never even thought about doing something like that before he’d met Blossom, but she, and the werewolf thing, had changed him. For the better, he thought.

“I think she’d like to meet you guys too,” he said. “I’d be down for the four of us hanging out, at least.”

“If you wanted, you could use our section of the beach,” Jeremy wasn’t actually sure how far their property went as far as the beach, but there was a good section of it that belonged to Myrcella’s uncle, considering he’d bought a house on the beach. “That whole section past our yard, down to the ocean is private.” Which helped when it came to the giant war tent that was still in their yard, which Myrcella’s uncle had gotten from their dream world.

“I’ll mention it to Myrcella, see when she’s available.” Starting her own beauty business kept Myrcella busy, but considering she was doing it for herself, she could more or less make her own schedule.

“Really?” Tyler asked. “That’d be sweet. Thanks, man.” The Lockwood’s had their own private beach, but the last thing he wanted was to risk his parents walking in on his date. He missed the mother of his dreams frequently after Klaus had killed her, but the Carol Lockwood that was still married to his father was different. She wasn’t as warm; they weren’t as close.

“Great,” Tyler said. “I’ll bring it up to Blossom too. Though, we should probably wait until after finals.” And not just because Blossom took her studies seriously and probably wouldn’t want any major distractions before finals. This was Tyler’s last semester of University before he graduated, and he didn’t want to screw it up when he was so close to the end.

“After finals it is then,” Jeremy finished off his drink and began contemplating having another one, “And let me know when you plan your date for and I’ll let Myrcella know that if she sees anyone outside it’s not someone being a creeper.”

“March 11th,” Tyler said. He still had the next half-dozen moons memorized, though he was glad that he’d never have to memorize another full moon again. “But thanks man. I owe you one.”
