Jeremy woke with a start, wincing as he realized what had woken him. “Shit…” Reaching over awkwardly, with his left arm, he turned on the light next his side of the bed and wasn’t surprised to see the blood and glass in his palm. Seeing that caused the dreams to come back, which also brought on a sudden rush of grief, which had caused the injury on his hand.
Damon had come back, but without Bonnie. When Jeremy had questioned Damon about why he was the only one back, when he and Bonnie had been lost together when the Other Side had fallen, Damon had told him that he’d been in the prison world alone and that Bonnie hadn’t been there because she had found peace. This had caused Jeremy to grieve for her once more and after getting extremely drunk, he’d tried to finally cancel Bonnie’s phone plan, which he had been paying for just so he could hear her voice on her outgoing message, but he’d been unable to and in his grief, he’d smashed his phone and a decanter of whatever he’d been drinking, thus the glass now embedded in his hand.
Getting out of bed, he tried not to drip any blood on the floor as he headed towards the bathroom, not wanting to wake Myrcella.
Myrcella stirred at the light but became fully awake when Jeremy left their bed, she wasn’t that light of a sleeper but she was so used to Jeremy’s presence now that she unconsciously knew when he left. Just as she knew when he came to bed late after playing a new video game or studying.
Sitting up she pushed her hair from her face her eyes widening when she noticed the blood on the bed sheets. Scrambling from the bed she joined her boyfriend in the bathroom, “Jeremy” she said worry in her voice as she saw him cradling his hand, “What happened?” she asked as she moved to help him clean and treat the injury. Retrieving their first aid kit from the cupboard.
While he hadn’t wanted to wake Myrcella, he wasn’t exactly surprised that she had woken up. Living with someone and sharing a bed with them meant that you became used to their patterns and getting up this early wasn’t a normal thing for either of them.
Sighing, he held his hand out so that she could see it as he took out tweezers from the medicine cabinet to get the glass out, “The dreams. I smashed my phone and a glass decanter.” Considering all of the other injuries Jeremy had sustained in the dreams, it was a mystery why only this one and the gunshot, that had killed him, the first time, were the only ones that had bled over. It was possible that injuries from his other two deaths hadn’t bled over because those times he’d had his neck snapped and an injury like that was hard to come back from in the waking world. “Sorry I woke you.”
Helping him remove the glass and clean the wound she listened as he told her, sometimes she really hated his dreams. Mostly when they hurt him, surprisingly she hadn’t ever really been jealous of the girls in his dreams. She was very secure in their relationship.
Shaking her head she stopped for a moment and pressed a kiss to his lips, “It’s okay. I’d rather help you than sleep while you're hurt”
Jeremy let Myrcella help him clean and dress the wound, which luckily wasn’t too deep and wouldn’t need stitches or anything like that. “Thanks.” He still felt the grief at having found out that Bonnie was really gone, but that only seemed logical. They may not have dated in the waking world, but he had still known Bonnie for most of his life the same amount of time that Elena and Katherine had known her, “Damon ended up coming back. He told me that Bonnie had found peace. So, I got drunk to try and work through my grief.” It seemed that that was how most of them, in the dreams, worked through grief. Then again, Jeremy had done the same thing in the waking world when his parents had died.
Not needing to go to the hospital for stitches was definitely a relief, especially since Jeremy’s dreams could have hurt him a lot worse. “Oh Jeremy, I’m so sorry” Myrcella said as she slipped an arm around his waist and leaned her head on his shoulder, “Your dreams always seem to be so cruel to you” It didn’t seem fair to her that he always had so much to bear in them.
“I guess that’s what happens when you dream about Mystic Falls.” Jeremy sighed and glanced back towards the bedroom, “We should probably change the sheets and get those in the wash or something.” He hadn’t realized, in the dark, just how much his hand had bled on the sheets.
“I can change the bed and put the sheets in soak, I’ll leave a note for Irisa too so she doesn’t worry if she sees them in the morning” Myrcella said, leaning up to press a kiss to Jeremy’s lips once more before she moved to strip the bed.
Jeremy sighed and ran his uninjured hand through his hair as he moved to get a new set of sheets to replace the current ones. He wasn’t going to let Myrcella do it all on her own. “I just want to get back to sleep.” He hoped that he wouldn’t feel the grief for Bonnie, that he did now, in the morning.
Myrcella wouldn’t mind doing it on her own, she didn’t want him making his injury any worse. But they worked together to get it done quickly, “You will” Myrcella assured him, “And in the morning hopefully the dream will all feel a little less real, well apart from your hand. We’ll have to see what it’s like and whether you need to see a doctor” Once the bed was done they settled down and Myrcella snuggled close to Jeremy, hand stroking through his hair to help him drift off back to a hopefully dreamless sleep.
