The moment they had arrived at the cabin Magnus had found for them Will knew that they were going to have the perfect weekend. It was an incredible setting and perfect for romance. They’d managed to hide the plans from Jem and Will’s heart had been so happy when he saw the look on Jem’s face, it had been a lovely moment.
Currently however Will was sat on a rock by the water with his phone in his hand getting enough signal to watch the Wales v England rugby match live. It was early enough where they were compared to the UK that he hoped Jem and Tessa were busy enough with breakfast not to realise he had been ‘exploring’ for longer than expected.
Jem had been very surprised by Will and Tessa’s plan to get away and appreciated it greatly. After everything they had been going through the last couple of months, thanks to the dreams, they all needed a vacation. Getting away to New York for Magnus and Alec’s wedding had been nice, but they hadn’t had a chance to be by themselves, especially since Tessa had been in the wedding and had been needed for rehearsals and things like that.
Noticing that breakfast was almost done, Jem told Tessa that he was going to go find Will. Stepping outside, he spotted his boyfriend by the lake and started walking towards him, knowing that his footsteps would hardly cause a sound, “I doubt you’ll get many bars out here.”
Tessa was watching from the kitchen as Jem headed out to find Will. She had decided to try and cook them all some pancakes and was in the middle of washing and cutting some fruit up before starting the cooking. It was incredibly peaceful here, with no real pressures on them except eating, drinking and sleeping to take care of. And really, it was only Will and herself who needed to worry about all that. Frowning, she wondered why Will had been gone so long as she put the fruit in a bowl that she put in the fridge. Drying her hands on a towel, she headed out the door to follow Jem.
“I get enough to show me the score every couple of minutes” Will admitted lowering his arm and turning to look at Jem with a smile, “Guess I’m busted huh?” he said before standing and hopping from the rock to greet Jem with a kiss, “Sorry. I forgot Wales were playing today” They were winning too which Will hoped they would continue to do, but he honestly hadn’t meant to make them come look for him.
“A little bit,” Jem knew how much Will enjoyed watching his rugby matches so he could understand Will wanting to try and watch it now, “I’m sure you can find it online later, when we’re home.” He turned and glanced out at the lake, the wind ruffling his dark hair. Since he’d stopped taking the Yin Fen, he hadn’t had to color his hair and it was now back to its original shade of black except for the shock of white, which he had chosen to keep, “We should go swimming later on.”
Tessa smiled as she came up on the two of them. They made a lovely picture against the background of the lake and she pulled her phone out of her pocket to take a quick snap of her two favourite boys. She really was so incredibly lucky and moments like these reminded her of that. Smiling down at the picture before putting her phone away and walking down towards them, she squinted into the sun and raised her hand to shade her eyes as she looked at them. “Hey, what’s happening? Something wrong?”
Will nodded, “I can” he agreed, even if he wanted to make sure his team weren’t going to throw it away in the last few minutes. But Jem and Tessa were far more important. “Sure, it looks nice out there” Turning at the sound of Tessa’s voice he smiled, “Hey, I got caught trying to watch the match” he admitted holding up his phone.
Jem turned at the sound of Tessa’s voice and he shook his head, “While we slaved away making breakfast,” He smirked at her before turning back to Will, “I think this means that he should do the dishes afterwards, don’t you agree?”
“I should say so,” Tessa grinned happily at the pair. “For the rest of the day,” she joked, winking at Will as she cocked her head.
“I’m sure that’s countryist or something” Will told them with a mock hand to his heart like he was wounded, “Just because a man wanted to cheer on his team in the best sport there is” he heaved a big sigh.
“Perhaps if you hadn’t snuck off,” Jem smirked, shaking his head slightly at Will’s antics. He was well used to them by now so he knew how to handle them. “Then we might be more understanding of your plight.”
“Now, now it’s not because you’re Welsh,” Tessa grinned as she came close to the boys, running her hand up Will’s shoulder and into his hair as she cocked her head to look at him. “It’s because you were naughty and tried to watch it without us,” she told him, scraping her nails along his scalp and leaning into Jem with her body.
“Pretty sure you’d have been more upset if I tried to make you watch it with me” Will pointed out to both of them. He was well aware he was alone in his love of rugby, he had tried to explain it to Tessa before but it wasn’t her kind of thing. “It’s so hard being a lone fan” he added capturing Tessa’s hand and pressing a kiss to her palm.
Jem couldn’t help but move just a little bit closer to Tessa as she leaned into him, which also brought him closer to Will, “Sounds like surprise trips are going to have to be planned around the rugby schedule from now on. Unless there’s a better wifi connection in the future.”
Tessa laughed at that. It may have only been a short break, but she felt much more relaxed than when they'd arrived. “I will have to make a note of it for any future vacations,” she smiled at him, feeling blissfully happy in this moment. If only they could stay here.
