As far as Lexi was concerned, the new year was off to a pretty good start. Sure it had only been about three weeks, but so far she couldn’t really complain about anything except maybe her love life. While she was happy for all of her friends who were in relationships, it could get a little lonely sometimes. Some people might wonder why she didn’t simply compel a guy to go out with her and Lexi’s answer to that would be that it was dishonest and she would never do something like that to someone.
There was a big difference between compelling some jerk in a bar to do the chicken dance and compelling someone to think they were in love with her. When she dated someone, she wanted it to be real. So at the moment she was resigned to living vicariously through her friends.
Of course with Valentine’s Day approaching it only served to remind her of her single status, but Valentine’s Day also meant that Anna’s Galentine’s Day party was fast approaching and Lexi had decided to do some shopping to stock up on candy, before it was all gone, as well as grab some Valentine’s Day cards for her friends. First however, she had needed to stop at Starbucks for her caffeine fix and upon exiting the cafe, she spotted someone familiar. She may not have known Elijah, in the waking world, the way she did in the dreams, but that didn’t stop her from calling out his name.
Elijah was still getting used to the dreams himself. He hadn’t had more than the one, but it felt like it had been on repeat in his head for days. No, he hadn’t spent days dreaming it, it just happened to be the one thing he couldn’t stop thinking about...outside of the feeling of Ezio’s hands and the way it felt to kiss him. He really hadn’t considered that ever being something he’d get caught up in, but there he was and it was only a matter of time before his father expressed his feelings about it. Of course, he’d have to find out about it first.
It was the dream that was on his mind at the moment as he walked down the street. The sound of his name took a moment to register and he stopped, turning to look for the person who’d said it only to find a blonde waving. He knew Caroline well enough to know that she was friends with her. He offered her a hint of a smile and walked closer. Name, name. Ah, yes. “Lexi, isn’t it?”
Smiling Lexi walked towards where Elijah was, her boots tapping along the cement, “That’s me.” She couldn’t resist giving him a once over as she came to stand in front of him, “I saw you and had to come over and say hi,” Ever since she’d dreamt about being turned by Elijah she had wondered what he’d be like in the waking world. Whether he would be more like his dream self or completely different like Kol was in the waking world.
Elijah couldn’t have said if he was anything like his dream self, but he could say he hadn’t taken anyone’s head off recently, so in that respect, he wasn’t very much like his dream self. It was certainly unusual to know that the person you were in the dreams could do something so easily without thinking about it. “Hello, Lexi.” He offered her a small smile. “How are you doing today?” He eyed the coffee in her hand briefly before focusing his attention back to her face, putting little details into place.
“I’m good. Just out about to stock up on some things for Galentine’s Day,” Lexi took a sip of her coffee and tossed her long blond hair over her shoulder, “How about you?” She wondered what someone like Elijah did in their spare time. In the dreams, from what she knew, he’d mostly followed Klaus around. He had been by himself when they had met, but according to the rumors and legends surrounding Klaus over the centuries, Elijah hadn’t been too far behind his younger brother.
Elijah had not been in the habit of following behind Niklaus these days. Then again, he was hardly making a mess everywhere he went. At least not like the dreams, but he hadn’t gotten that far. If he really needed to know where his siblings were, he’d learned a few tricks about tracking their phones that he’d been careful not to reveal. If they needed him, he’d be there as fast as he could be, but there was only so much he could do. “Ah. Galentine’s Day. I believe I’ve heard something about that.” He’d never really concerned himself over Valentine’s Day, but he did note that he was currently dating someone. Something he hadn’t considered as a thing. Now he was going to have to figure out whether that meant he needed to start planning something. Probably.
“I’m just out for a walk. I needed to clear my head a little. I’ll probably have to stop in at work before too long to see how things are going.”
“Yup. We’re going to gorge ourselves on candy and probably watch stupid chick flicks,” Being the only single one amongst them, Lexi would also have to make up a rule that there was to be no talk of boyfriends although in Elsa and Kate’s case, it would be a little different since they were married to each other. “In that case, would you mind walking with me? Unless I’d be interrupting your own walking plans.” Lexi didn’t have a timetable for her day, so if Elijah didn’t mind her tagging along, it wasn’t the end of the world if she swung by the store a little later.
Elijah smiled. “Well, it sounds like fun at any rate.” He wondered if Rebekah and Freya had ever been the candy and chick flicks type of girls. It was likely more important to spend time together in the long run. “No. I wouldn’t mine your joining me. I have no real plans outside of walking.” He offered her a small smile. “You are either very bored or I have underestimated my ability to make people want to spend time with me.”
“With my friends, it should be a lot of fun.” Lexi took a sip of her drink before smiling at Elijah, “I just figured that since we know a lot of the same people, we should get to know each other,” Cause then when he eventually dreamt about turning her, it might not be as awkward as if they didn’t know one another.
“Ah. That does sound like a sensible enough reason.” He did mean to talk more with those around him at the parties, but he always seemed distracted...or wasn’t sure how easily he fit in with a particular crowd of people. Most specifically the younger people. “So besides Galentine’s Day, what is it you do with your time?” He supposed that was the easiest place to start, what did she do, what did she like to do. It gave a starting place for more conversations.
“I work at Disneyland,” Lexi smirked as they began walking, “I play Rapunzel and Aurora.” Recently Lexi had been wondering if she should look into a career change considering she’d been working at Disneyland for a couple of years now and there really wasn’t much else she could do there or would want to do there, but she really wasn’t sure what she would do considering the acting thing hadn’t really panned out. Then again, being a vampire meant that she was going to be around for a long time and she’d have to switch up careers often so she should probably start thinking of new careers for the future. “Other than that, I spend any free time that I have with my friends and taking striparobics classes occasionally.”
“Do you really? I was recently there, actually.” He couldn’t remember seeing her, though. Perhaps he’d just been a little distracted. It was hard to say for sure. If it wasn’t Ezio, it was certainly the fact that he wasn’t wearing a suit at the time that was distracting him. Perhaps both. “I don’t think I’ve ever met anyone who worked at Disney before...or anyone that did striparobics.” A paused. “Well, anyone else, I should say since I’ve met you.” He wondered how much else he missed. “I’ve been told that it is a good workout, though.” He smiled. “I don’t do anything like that. I just spend far too much time at work. I’m a museum curator. I don’t know if you know that already.”
“I do,” Lexi said, smirking, brows raising slightly as he mentioned having just been at Disney. If there was anyone she couldn’t imagine going to Disneyland, it was Elijah Mikaelson, but then again they weren’t their dream selves in the waking world. At least not completely. “Did you have a good time?” There were so many people at the park on any given day that it didn’t surprise her that she wouldn’t have seen him there. “It’s a really good workout. I don’t do it regularly, but whenever I have a Saturday morning off is usually when I catch a class.”
She took a sip of her coffee and shook her head, “I didn’t know that. I only knew that you’re usually in a suit, but that makes sense now. What museum do you work at?”
Elijah noted the eyebrows, which meant there was another person who he’d surprised by going to Disney. He surprised himself as well, but...it had started off as something nice to do, which turned into a date at some point. Either before or after the kissing. He wasn’t entirely positive. “I did. I suppose I was a little surprised about that in the end. Not that I didn’t expect to have fun, but...well, I suppose it’s not normally somewhere I would frequent.” Normally. “But it was more entertaining than I expected.” Which certainly had something to do with the company.
He smiled a little. “Well, I am almost always in a suit. I probably would have been one way or another.” But that was only because he liked suits. He also liked the way he looked in suits. It was just part of him. “The Fullerton Museum Home.”
“Well, I’m glad that you had fun. I think everyone should go to Disney at least once in their life; cause then they can decide whether or not it’s for them. Personally, I love going even when I’m not working,” Lexi loved the magic of it, even knowing how things were done as she did, the magic was still there for her. “Then it’s a good thing that you look good in a suit.” She smirked at him, “I don’t think I’ve heard of that one. Is it an art museum?”
Would Elijah go back? He wasn’t entirely certain. Maybe. Then again, with a niece, he was likely going to end up back there again. But he still had time until that happened. Unless someone else happened to twist his arm. It was entirely possible. “I’m sure there are worse places to spend a lot of time.” He was beginning to suspect that Mystic Falls was one of those places. “Thank you. My siblings seem to find more joy in teasing me about it, but I’ve always thought I looked good in a suit. It helps to get clothes tailored, though. Even if they start out slightly unflattering, they usually get better.” If he had no other advice to give people, it was that a good tailor could do wonders.
“It does have a good bit of art around. It also does a lot of historical exhibits. Currently we have the works of Leo Fender on display, which is a bit of art and music. I suppose it’s a little bit of history as well. He lived in Fullerton, so this is the...tenth anniversary of the Leo Fender Gallery.” He smiled. “But there are some things that are not a part of my job. Haunted tours in particular. There are quite a few programs as well. You can read about those a little more on the website. I haven’t memorized them all, which may be a hint of laziness on my part, but then I don’t do as much with those programs either.”
“Well, I hope to see you back there someday,” Even knowing that he had been there, Lexi still couldn’t quite picture Elijah on the rides. Did he ride Space Mountain? Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride? The Carousel? It all just seemed so strange to think about. “They’re probably just jealous. I mean, Kol definitely has reason to be.” She smirked and winked at him. “Finn, I think, is the only one who might be able to top you.”
Her brows rose slightly as he mentioned haunted tours, “I do love haunted tours. I’ll have to check out the website and see if I can’t get some of my friends to take a trip to the museum with me one of these days.”
Elijah gave her a small smile. “Well, maybe I’ll see you there someday.” If he went back. He’d gone on a couple of the rides, but he didn’t really remember which ones they were. He’d have to figure that out later. “Ah, yes. That is probably what it is. They are just jealous. I am inclined to agree.” He found himself laughing. “I’ll allow that. If only because he is older than me and girls tend to go for the hair.”
He sidestepped a man that was walking toward him with ease. “You should, certainly. Let me know when you’re coming and I’ll make sure to come out and give you a bit of a tour through the exhibits.” It was not unusual for him to do. He’d done that with Laurence and others. “There’s a lot to see.” A pause. “Are you a fan of art?”
“Maybe I’ll drag Stefan along with me.” Lexi thought that Stefan might like doing something like going to the museum. “I don’t really know a whole lot about art, but I like it enough.” She wasn’t an art student or connoisseur who knew millions of facts about different pieces and artists, but she could appreciate it.
Elijah nodded. “The younger Salvatore.” He knew him because of Caroline, but also because of the dreams. It had been the elder of the two that had impaled him and there’d been quite a lot of other interactions with the two of them. “We don’t judge a lack of knowledge about art. It is always nice to be able to educate people a little. If everyone knew everything about art, we’d hardly be a necessary part of society.” He smiled a little. “Art appreciation is just as good. I promise.”
Lexi nodded, “Stefan and I have been friends since before we can even remember,” Lexi couldn’t remember a time without Stefan, considering there hadn’t been a time without Stefan; with the exception of when he’d been deployed. “That is very true. I’m glad I won’t be mocked for my lack of knowledge. That’d be extremely mean after all.”
Elijah found his smile growing. He didn’t consider himself someone that rarely smiled, but it took a certain person to get him to give something more than a hint of a smile. “I don’t know him as well as I probably should, but that will happen.” He looked at Lexi quietly for a moment. “I promise you won’t be mocked. And if you are, I’ll make sure to handle the situation.”
