Who: Kate Bishop and Steve Rogers When: The Day Kate and Clint got Married Where: By the Lake What: Jogging Rating/Warnings: Low/None Status: Complete
It was still bizarre to Kate that she and Steve Rogers, aka Captain Freaking America, had a standing jogging date. A couple, actually. And Kate wouldn’t give them up for the world. Even if it was her Wedding day.
Her wedding day! Kate was torn between elated and anxious. She was filled with nervous energy, and was looking forward to her early morning run with Steve. She could tell him all about how she and Clint were getting married today after a sixteen hour engagement. It was just meant to be.
She waited by the drinking fountain, stretching her calf muscles.
The snow was, well normal, from what Steve had gathered every year around here. He enjoyed it, and it was nice to run in the snow again. He pulled into his typical parking spot, and grabbed his beanie from the passenger seat. Getting out, he pulled his hat on and started toward their usual meet up spot.
"Hey," he greeted Kate with a wave, and moved over to where she was at, "you doing alright this morning?" He asked as he started stretching as well.
The snow made the ground a little slippery, but so long as they stayed on the path, it shouldn’t be too bad. Kate’s shoes had plenty of tread on them, so that wasn’t a concern. She brightened considerably when he came closer, and lifted her own hand to wave. Then tucked hair behind her ear. It was probably hard to miss the beautiful ring on her finger as she did so.
“Good! Really good. Full of energy today. How about you? Not too cold for you, is it?” She asked. Of course, Kate knew a lot about Captain America’s history with the cold. ...it wasn’t supposed to be a “Capsicle” joke, but it kinda came off that way.
Steve gave a nod, "Yeah, I have no complaints." He was still feeling a bit tired, but he figured that would go away as soon as they started running. He was about to respond to her other questions, when the glint of her ring caught his attention. Steve stopped, moving over to her to take her hand. "Whoa, is that what I think it is?" He glanced at her, a smile forming on his lips. "And it's not too cold, just for the record." He'd already had that dream, and yeah, it'd been cold enough for him.
Kate was still not used to the weight of the ring… it’d only been about twelve hours since Clint slipped the thing on her finger, and it was still very distracting. She beamed when Steve took her hand, and nodded excitedly. “We’re getting married today.”
Steve smiled brightly at the smile on her face. It was contagious to say the least, happiness and love always was. "Congratulations, Kate." He dropped her hand, "I wish you all the happiness in the world." He really did hope that the two of them had their happily ever after, everyone deserved it in their lives and considering the dreams that they all had, or well, at least most of them in the OC Steve felt that they deserved it a bit more.
“Thanks.” Kate could hardly believe that Captain America was congratulating her on her engagement. The fact that they were friends, jogging partners, et cetera, was still a little mind boggling. She tucked her hair behind her ears with both hands and then let them drop to her sides. “He asked me last night, and we’ve decided to go today.” It wasn’t strange at all to her that they weren’t going for a big wedding or long engagement.
A look of surprise crossed Steve’s features. He'd heard of quick engagements, but he hadn't personally known anyone that had had one. Still, he was very happy for Kate and Clint. "Hey, that's great! I hope that everything goes well for you two today."
Kate gave a little laugh at the look on his face. “I know, I know. It’s sudden, it’s ridiculous. But it’s for real. You know?” Kate knew it with every fiber of her being. What she and Clint had? It was epic. She nodded. “Thanks, Steve. I hope you’ll come by the bar tonight to celebrate with us?”
Steve nodded in understanding. "No, I get it. When you love someone, you love someone and hey, there's no reason to wait if you know it's right." He was happy for the two of them, truly, he was. "Let me talk to Peggy, but I'm sure we'll be there." Steve didn't think Peggy would have an issue with going to celebrate with their friends on their engagement, and marriage. "For now though, let's get our run in and you can give me details about everything while we're out there."
