The trip south of the border had been highly productive. Her meeting with a couple leaders of the Sinaloa Cartel had gone rather well. Some deals were reached on expanding their drug trafficking area, as well as Stahma gaining a cut of the profits. She still had her contacts when she'd been with Datak that would still do business with her. In fact, said contacts had lost faith in Datak when he'd proven himself weak after Stahma had "negotiated" her divorce from him.
Upon her return to America, she'd gotten stopped at Customs and asked some more pointed questions. Apparently her Russian ethnicity rose eyebrows. But she'd weathered it and managed to get out of there with only some sideways looks. She couldn't entirely blame them considering the current state of relations with Russia and that whole meddling in the American election thing. Even so, she was still mildly irked by the time she got her luggage and was picked up by her driver. She checked her messages and email on her phone, wondering if Natasha had left any messages for her. Though upon arriving back home, there was a police car sitting outside the gate. The cops got out of it and moved towards the car. Stahma frowned, but by the time her window had rolled down, she had a polite smile on her face.
"Hello, may I help you?" She asked.
"Are you Stahma Tarr?" One asked.
"I am. Why do you ask?"
"Please step out of the car, ma'am," he instructed. Frowning but complying.
"What is this about?" She asked, once she was out of the car.
"Turn around and face the car, please. You are under arrest for the murder of Jimmy Vega." At this point, she was given her Miranda warning, arrested and put into the squad car. Now, Stahma's mood went from irked to angry, but she kept a calm facade and kept her mouth shut. After all, she was aware of her rights in this country. Even before she'd gotten her green card, she'd made certain she knew her rights and the laws governing the country, state and county she lived in. Not learning any of them would have been stupid, and Stahma was not stupid.
Which all the while she was being booked, she was trying to figure out what had happened. Someone had apparently been murdered, and evidence pointed right to Stahma? That wasn't her style, and she knew it. Stahma rarely did the murdering herself. And honestly, she'd been good lately and hadn't had anyone killed. In fact, the last time she'd had anyone killed was when she needed Datak to give her the divorce on her terms. So she knew she was innocent of this crime. The timing of the crime was also crucial considering she'd been out of the country for a few days. She'd obviously need her lawyer on this, but she had someone else in mind to call. She'd tell Natasha to get in touch with her lawyer for her, but Stahma wasn't going to take this lying down.
Stahma was getting more livid with each passing moment. Any number of people could have framed her for this. It would take some work to figure out just which one had. She had many enemies, especially in Moscow. The only person she suspected less than others was her father. This wasn't quite his style for getting revenge on her. He was still on the list, of course, but Stahma knew if he really wanted her out of the picture, he would have done so long ago. Research would need to be done on the matter, but first thing was first. She needed to get out of jail. Then she needed to clear her name.
Then, once she was cleared and those responsible for this were found, Stahma would take her revenge. And it would be very, very bloody.
