Who: Kit and Asami What: loveValentines in the air, literally! When: 2/14 Where: Fancy Airship status: complete Rating: PG-13
Maybe a Valentine’s Day date was pushing things a little farther than Kit would be comfortable with. Maybe more than Asami was comfortable with. But she wanted to do it. Part of Asami’s nature was to make gestures to people she cared about. Grand sweeping ones, and small, personal ones. Sometimes at the same time, as with the Christmas presents.
For this date, though, she had a catering company for the airship. It would be a great test of turning it into an actual public thing, at least. The plan was for a nice dinner while the ship flew along the shore line, before returning just long enough for everyone but Asami and Kit to disembark. She wanted Kit to herself for the rest of the night, and that wasn’t even counting potential mile-high club membership.
Lowering the gangplank at the rear, she wore a short, tight red dress with stockings, though she left the gloves at home. “What do you think?”
Kit never felt particularly comfortable in dresses. She’d wear them if the occasion called for them, such as a fancy party, but she’d always been more comfortable in tight blue jeans and shirt. Today, she’d dressed in a leather top, a pair of tight dress pants, and a pair of her nicest motorcycle boots, which she’d made sure to polish before she’d left.
She hadn’t brought flowers with her, not today. Asami was expecting flowers, and if she could help it, she never did what was expected of her. Instead she’d brought a small box, about six inches across and just as tall. She’d kept it aside for the duration of the flight, and now that everyone else had disembarked, Kitiara had time to truly view the interior of the airship without all the people in her.
“She handles very smoothly,” Kitiara said appreciatively. She hadn’t known what to expect from what was essentially a giant balloon, but she’d been impressed. “I wouldn’t mind getting behind the wheel of her to see how she maneuvers.”
Dress or not, Kit looked very good. Asami took the opportunity to stare, then took a deep breath. She was very lucky. Kit was beautiful and strong and smart and a lot of fun, and she also had a brain friend with occasional benefits in Helena. It was kind of a new thing to Asami, who was never really the type to sleep around.
As evidence by the fact that when she looked at Kit at first her heart had skipped a beat.
Now that they were alone she could let herself gravitate to Kit. She’d been close anyway, but she pressed up against her back. “I think I could let you take the controls for a bit. It’s not too difficult to learn, but she does fly a bit like a whale.”
Kit leaned back into Asami, trying to ignore the fluttering feeling in her chest. “I’ve heard whales can be very graceful creatures,” she teased lightly. Not that she had ever made much of a study of the swimming abilities of whales.
“I’m sure they can be, but this thing only looks graceful.” Asami leaned her head down, kissing the side of Kit’s neck as her hair cascaded down over her shoulder. “It’s just up that way. Probably easier than learning to ride a horse.”
Kitiara had actually found that learning to ride Cinnamon was unexpectedly simple, and she had to wonder just how much of her ease in learning it had come from the subtle influence of her dreams. Still, she understood the sentiment, and so she said nothing. It took a great strength of will to pull herself away from Asami’s lips, but she managed it reluctantly, more eager to see the controls. Instead she took Asami’s hands, twining her fingers with her own, and kissing Asami’s knuckles. “Well then, I suppose you should lead the way,” and as an afterthought added suggestively, “Show me your cockpit.”
Asami’s face flushed under the romantic attention from Kit. But then, this was Valentine’s Day, wasn’t it? It was made for romance. She gave Kit a teasing grin, then sauntered up the stairs leading to the second level. There was also an elevator, but this way it would ensure Kit had a great view. She glanced back over her shoulder, then reached the second level and opened the cockpit.
Kitiara stepped into the cockpit, trailing her fingers across Asami’s waist as she walked past her to the controls. Once there, she stood looking out the front of the airship at the horizon spread in front of her. There was something utterly freeing about being so high in the sky, with trees a hundred feet tall looking like toys the be trod on. More so than just looking out a window from a plane, standing here with the controls in front of her made her feel as though she had the whole world at her fingertips.
Silently, she stared out at the world unravelling before her, and then she turned to Asami, her eyes bright. “I have to say, you really know how to show a girl a good time.”
Closing her eyes, Asami let herself enjoy the feel of Kit’s hands on her waist. She wanted to savor it, but she’d be able to savor it later, she was sure. “It’s a nice view, isn’t it.”
Asami approached her, looping her arms around Kit’s shoulders and leaning in to kiss her. “Why don’t you take us out over the ocean?”
Kitiara rarely noticed beauty for beauty’s sake, but with Asami here it was easier. “It’s beautiful,” she agreed, her gaze no longer on the scenery but on Asami herself. She wrapped her arms around Asami’s ribs, leaning up into the kiss. “I think I can manage that,” she said, once she pulled away from the kiss. She headed toward the controls and looked at them. She hadn’t flown anything like this before, but it seemed straightforward enough, and she moved to steer the vessel toward the coastline.
The airship really did fly like a whale, but a very smooth whale. Asami was impressed that she hadn’t made the ship rock or shake as she turned it, and her fondness or Kit only grew. She wished she had more women friends she could chat with and get advice with with regards to Kit. That would be...helpful.
“Not bad. I’m not going to make you try a landing, though.”
Kitiara would never admit that there was something that she wasn’t able to do, but she was glad that she wouldn’t have to attempt a landing anytime soon. She might be able to figure it out, but it was far more likely that she’d crash the magnificent ship.
“Such little confidence in me,” she teased.
“Landing is a fifth lesson type thing,” Asami countered. Though if that was anything like dating she’d thrown the rulebook out a long time ago when it came to Kit. She blamed hormones and loneliness. It was a potent combination.
“I hope you’re still hungry from dinner. There’s cake and some…” Asami licked her lips. “Other desserts on the menu.”
Kitiara eyed Asami, her eyes slowly trailing from the taller woman’s head to her feet and back up again, taking in every sexy curve of her body. Kit chewed her lower lip, and met Asami’s gaze boldly. “You know, I can do with skipping the cake.”
Well, Asami had worn her special underthings in anticipation of such a dessert. She grinned, and leaned back against the bulkhead. “Oh yeah?”
“Oh yeah,” purred Kitiara. Hands trailing down Asami’s body, Kitiara knelt in front of her and lifted the skirt to her dress. “Happy Valentine’s Day, Lover.”
