Tessa was making tea in the kitchen as she heard Will come in the front door. Earlier that week, they had discussed the possibility of taking Jem away on a holiday in February, and Tessa had headed home from work a little earlier to start up the laptop and start looking at places herself. She’d messaged Will about her plan before she left the shop and when she had got home, started the laptop and made some tea.
Entering their home Will headed straight to the kitchen and moved behind Tessa to press a kiss to her neck, “Hey you” he said, “We have a couple of hours before Jem gets home and I have a couple of websites that might help us with this surprise” he added.
Tessa grinned as Will came up behind her again. “Sounds great, I've fired the laptop up and I'm just finishing the tea so head through and I'll bring it through,” she told him. “Do you want any biscuits or anything?”
“When do I ever not want biscuits?” Will said with a grin, giving her a proper kiss before he did as was told and went through to sit in front of the laptop. Entering a few websites into tabs and then just doing a simple google search.
Tessa giggled as he kissed her and hurried away. Placing the biscuits on the tray beside the cups and teapot, she followed him into the front room and placed the tray down on the coffee table. Sitting down beside him, she snuggled up to his side and tucked her cold hands between his arm and his body. “I'm so cold!” she told him, playfully nuzzling against his shoulder.
“Crikey woman” Will said, a shiver running through him when her cold hands rested against him, “You have terrible circulation, lucky for you your boyfriend happens to know a lot of ways to warm you up” he grinned, pressing a kiss to her forehead, “I’ll show you a few if we get this sorted quickly” he added cheekily wrapping an arm around her and he used his other hand to navigate the computer.
“Priorities Will, we don't have all that time before Jem gets home,” Tessa laughed at Will as he kissed her forehead. “So what have we got?” she asked, watching Will bring up the first Web page.
“Well if we wait until Jem gets home he can see my warming up skills too” he told her, nothing put Will Herondale off after all. “Okay, so this is the first one. It looks okay but it isn’t what’s in my head you know? I imagined this little log cabin maybe with a lake close by or something, pretty secluded but mostly I’ve only found what look like log cabin caravan sites” Nothing as private as Will was hoping for.
“You have a one track mind William Herondale, and while I'd love nothing more than to...canoodle with my two boys,” Tessa grinned and pressed a kiss to his clothed shoulder. “I meant that we needed to sort this out before he gets home,” she grinned turning her attention to the laptop screen. “Well...maybe we could ask Magnus if he could...I don't know…’appropriate’ a log cabin from somewhere?” she suggested innocently with a little shrug.
“I meant after we've sorted this out and Jem is home. Honestly and you say I have a one track mind” he told her with a smirk, “Hmmm he might go for that actually. I'll drop him a message, it's about time I did anyway. I've been a lazy friend”
“Same here,” Tessa smiled, glad he’d liked her suggestion. “So if Magnus can help us, which lake would we like to set it on the banks of?” she asked, leaning forward to type in a quick search. “I heard one of my customers talking about this lake a little while ago. What do you think?” she offered, sitting back from the screen.
“I think I want us to just live there” Will said honestly, “Pack up everything and live there. We wouldn’t need anything else I’m sure” he smiled, it did look absolutely perfect. Exactly the sort of place that would be lovely for a romantic getaway.
“It is pretty idyllic,” Tessa smiled wistfully. “I think I would miss my shop and my books though,” she told him. “But I think it would be perfect for a long weekend away,” she smiled up at him.
“We’d have to have a regular book delivery” Will agreed, “But yeah okay for now a long weekend away it will be” he nodded pressing a quick kiss to her lips.
“Our own little book faerie,” Tessa grinned up at him after his kiss. She leaned up and kissed him again, lingering and loving. “Now pour that tea before you get any other ideas. There's nothing worse than wasted tea,” she winked at him.
“Best kind of faerie” he told her before kissing her back. “Mmm that is true, you have the heart of a Brit” then he set about making tea for them both, it had brewed enough by now and he was looking forward to a biscuit or two.
Giggling, Tessa bounced a little next to him as she waited for him to finish pouring. “I’m so excited about this whole thing! Now we need to figure out how to tell Jem, do we keep it a surprise right up until we go or tell him tonight?”
“Let’s surprise him. Don’t give him time to worry about anything” Not that Will thought he particularly would but just in case. “We know he won’t organise anything without telling us so we’re safe in that regard”
“We won’t have to pack anything fancy clothes-wise, just some comfortable things to relax in, swimming shorts and something to sleep in...maybe,” Tessa teased, biting her lower lip as she looked up at Will coquettishly.
“See!” Will said grinning at her, “It’s you who has the one track mind Tessa Gray, blaming me when I’m clearly the poor innocent” he teased her.
“Innocent? You’re the one who has corrupted me, William Herondale!” Tessa defended herself, unable to keep the grin from her face as she did. “Exposing me to such...sinful behaviour,” she joked.
“Oh you took to the sinful behaviour rather quickly if my mind serves me right” Will told her, his hand sliding down to her hip slowly as he kissed that bright grin of hers.
Unable to stop the little giggle as he kissed her, Tessa pushed him back gently. “Stop it, the tea,” she reminded him, still giggling. Yeah, they were going to have a great Valentine’s Day.
