Irisa was looking forward to working with Athos again. She’d picked up his coffee and croissant from Baxters a few minutes before and was now knocking on his front door waiting to be let in.
Athos was looking forward to working with Irisa too, she was a bright student just as Alucard had promised she would be and she had a natural aptitude with weaponry. Not that he’d tell her that just yet of course.
Opening the door he invited her in, “Come through to the living room, we’ll have a catch up before getting on with it” He tried to keep food and drink out of the practice area in the garage. Though that could be hard with D’Artagnan around.
Irisa smiled up at Athos when he opened the door and made her way to the living room, putting his drink and croissant on the coffee table and taking a seat on the sofa. Sitting back against the cushions and waited for him to settle down too. “So did you guys have a good christmas and new year?”
“We did thank you. It was quiet, D’Artagnan isn’t a fan of the snow so we didn’t go out much” Athos told her, he’d been out walking Grim who had found the snow very entertaining. “How was Christmas with Alucard?”
“Christmas with Alucard was...enlightening,” Irisa chuckled. “He uh...well you know how serious he can be? Apparently that all changes if you bring a dog round. Integra and I almost had to pull him away bodily,” she joked, digging into her pocket for her phone so she could show Athos the video of Alucard playing with Dragon..
Upon seeing the video Athos couldn’t stop an actual grin and laughter erupting from him, “Oh that is priceless” he told her, “You need to hang onto that it’s going to be perfect blackmail material”
Irisa grinned up at Athos as he laughed. “I know! Integra and I couldn’t believe it when we saw it! I’m going to have to save on multiple hard drives and hide them in places in case he tries to delete the original,” she joked, closing the video and locking her phone’s screen. “Who knew Alucard could play?”
“That is definitely a good idea. He’s sneaky enough to try that” Athos said before smiling, “Well I always suspected he had a playful side, Integra does have a great sense of humour but I never suspected he’d get to that level”
“Neither did I,” Irisa shook her head, shifting to be a bit more comfortable on the couch while they spoke. “So what’s the case we’re working on?”
“Missing person. Parents worried about their daughter, it will hopefully turn out to be nothing but I said we’d look into it. A nice case to ease you back in is the hope” Athos told her.
“Awesome, what details have they given us? Where do we start?” Irisa asked, then pointed to the coffee and croissant. “Don’t forget to finish those.”
Athos nodded, picking up a file and handing it to her before grabbing a tissue from the box next to him and picking up the croissant. “Have a look, tell me what you think”
Irisa looked through the papers in the folder with keen interest. She enjoyed this sort of work, it was like a puzzle, asking questions, finding the pieces and putting things together. “Police been as unhelpful as usual I take it?” she asked.
“Naturally” Athos smiled a little after swallowing the last piece of his croissant, “They say there isn’t much they can do. Which to an extent is true but they could help us out a little. Nothing we haven’t come up against before though as you know”
“Great,” Irisa nodded resolutely and closed the folder in her lap. “Let’s get started.”
