Peeta had mentioned the idea of Annie designing the wedding rings and Caroline was totally on board. Who wouldn’t want a one of a kind ring? Her wedding was going to be one of a kind, from the dress, to the rings, to the cake. Of course she wanted to talk to Annie about it herself though. Not that she didn’t trust Peeta, but this was her wedding after all. She was going to be in control of every single aspect.
After her shift at Baxter’s ended Caroline headed to Annie’s apartment instead of her own. Bag full of baked goods and two coffees in hand she knocked on the door.
With all the engagement announcements on the network, Annie was beginning to think she should just start marketing unique wedding rings for those in Orange County. Not like she didn’t have enough on her plate or anything, but it seemed to be fairly common these days that someone was announcing a wedding. It was sweet.
Of course, making the rings first for Gale, and then offering the same to Peeta was different. They were her friends and of course she’d want to make their wedding rings if they would let her.
Having finished up at the studio early, Annie had gone swimming and then was back at her apartment when she heard the knock at the door after she had finished showering and changing. Odd. She didn’t have anything planned with Finnick that night. Shrugging, she went and opened the door.
“Caroline, hi, come in.”
“Thanks,” Caroline replied a large smile spread across her face. “I brought you a latte. And some croissants,” she offered the beverage and the baked goods over. “From Baxters,” she added in case she was expecting something Peeta made. It was always a little weird with her working at another bakery, but once she was done with school that would all change.
“Peeta mentioned you offered to design our rings?”
It was definitely weird. Annie tended to frequent Peeta’s bakery more often though it did tend to be Baxters that was brought to her if someone were picking something up. Even so, she was used to it by now and smiled in thanks as she took the beverage, “Well I may not sleep tonight but thank you.” There were reasons Annie tended to stick to tea, but she wasn’t in a state where the caffeine would had any serious adverse reactions.
“I did, yes!” Moving over to the couch and motioning that Caroline could join, Annie folded her legs under herself, never one to sit in a normal position. “Do you have anything specific in mind?” God she hoped that was what this was about and that this wasn’t Caroline coming to decline the offer and that was why she brought the latte and croissants, “I mean, that is if you’ve decided you want me to of course.”
Caroline followed Annie over to the couch sipping her own latte. There was tea at Baxters but they were sort of known for their lattes. It was usually Caroline’s go to for when she stopped by to see someone after a shift. Especially someone that was doing her a favor.
“Of course I want you to! That is like the sweetest offer ever. Thank you so much!” Well Hanna’s offer too, basically she and Peeta were just blessed with amazing friends. “Oh my god, I don’t even know. I mean I never dreamed I would get married, or know someone who could design our rings.” She had mostly just wanted to thank Annie right now, but she knew the discussion would have to be soon so Annie would have time to design and make them in time for the wedding.
Yes, there was the fact Baxters was known for their lattes, so it made sense. Annie didn’t mind it though. It was just a matter of typical preference. Though she was definitely relieved when it seemed that she wasn’t reading the situation wrong.
“You’re welcome. And really, I like designing jewelry so it’ll be fun.” Taking a sip of her latte, Annie listened as Caroline spoke. It was about a month into the engagement so she supposed it wasn’t that shocking that she wouldn’t know just what she would want. “Well that’s okay. We can figure something out. Have you chosen when you want to get married yet or is that also still new?”
Annie really had no idea what went into wedding planning. Gale had come to her about the rings, she had a timeline and went with that.
There were so many details that went into planning a wedding. And before Caroline really thought about the rings she wanted to make sure Annie’s offer was real, which it clearly was. Now she could get to Pinterest for ideas and discuss with Annie. But for the moment answering her questions it was.
“We have!” Caroline cheered happily. But then really she had been in a state of complete happiness since the engagement, not like it was a huge change from her normal behavior. “Not the date yet. But we are going to get married in August.” The date would depend on venue availability and all that. “It gives me a few months to just focus on the wedding after graduation.”
Annie wouldn’t have offered if she weren’t serious, but she could understand why Caroline would want to know for herself if she meant it and it wasn’t just something she had said to Peeta. So instead she listened as the blonde discussed the general time frame for the wedding, as well as just seeming genuinely happy and excited about it. Far better than Alyssa had been so even with some of her concerns, it was reassuring to see. She was protective of her friends even if she was the quiet one.
“I think that will be lovely, and it gives us time to figure out more of what you want for the rings.”
“Definitely! I’ll have to talk to Peeta about that too. He should have a say in his ring,” she said with a small laugh. For the most part Peeta was just letting her do as she pleased. But there were certain things that his opinion mattered on. Well they technically mattered on all of them but some more than others. Wedding rings were definitely one of them. After all he was going to be wearing it for the rest of his life. “Thanks you so much!” Caroline beamed unable to keep herself from throwing her arms around Annie in a hug. Thanks to her friends and Peeta’s friends help their wedding was going to be amazing.
