You should have just bloody kissed Logan.

“Honestly,” Lara snipped the thread, then started to put away the first aid kit. “You should have just bloody kissed Logan. Better than getting stitches in your forehead from..what, did you fall down the stairs trying to get away? Now it looks like I’m a wifebeater.”
She was only feigning any anger, in too good a mood to really be mad. Then she kissed the stitched up cut. “We’ve got to put our ornaments up. It’s time.”
Bo sighed. “I’d rather take the stitches than having to tell you I kissed someone else.” She didn’t think the compulsion should excuse kissing someone else, and even if she had kissed Logan, she wouldn’t have blamed Lara for being mad. “And yeah, it was falling down the stairs.” She was going to be sore, and possibly have some bruises, but she hadn’t broken anything.
She was suddenly missing her healing ability. But at least Lara got a break from that. Maybe a permanent one, she wasn’t certain if this wish was permanent.
“Is it? Oh good! I’m excited.” Bo said with a smile.
“When it’s not your fault, it’s not your fault. Lord, last year one of those made me kiss Alistair.” It wouldn’t be that terrible a prospect if Alistair had been a woman. But he was definitely not her type.
“Anyway.” Lara took Bo by the hand and led her downstairs. She already had drinks waiting, and a box of ornaments. Their new ones were on the table as well. Bo’s was a celtic design and Lara had bought a glass one from Mexico. “Lets get to work!”
“What can I say, my love for you is stronger than that mistletoe.” Which was probably saying something. “Though seriously, it made you kiss Alistair?” There weren’t many people who weren’t Bo’s type, but she had two types that were catnip to her. Dorky geniuses, such as Lara, and scruffy, somewhat untamed guys, like Dyson and Logan. Best to not tempt the succubus nature under any circumstances.
She followed Lara downstairs, more than ready to decorate the tree. “Look at this, someone got everything ready.” Bo said with a smile.
“Yes, Alistair. It was the oddest thing. He’s not a bad kisser, but…” She gestured at Bo in an ‘all of you’ kind of way. “My type lies elsewhere. Sexy succubuses, party-going camera geeks, and blonde cultural anthropologists with long legs. It’s a very exclusive club.” Though she had to admit Natla had attracted her too. Before the whole...crazed atlantean Queen thing had come to light.
“I got started early. I wanted to do this part with you.”
Bo chuckled a bit. “At least things didn’t get awkward between you and Alistair because of it.” They could have easily gone that way, evil mistletoe or not. Smiling, she looked at Lara. “What do we start with, the ornaments we chose?” She didn’t want to get this tradition wrong. “You know, I haven’t decorated a Christmas tree since before I ran away.” So this was going to be very special for her.
“It could have been awkward,” Lara agreed. “It’s strange, him moving out. Feels a little emptier here.” Which wasn’t an invitation to talk about children, thanks.
Lara shrugged. “We can start with those, or with others, that part I’m not picky about. Which do you prefer?”
“Yeah, it does. Though I suppose we could always adopt more animals or something.” Bo suggested with a chuckle. “Providing the cats would be okay with that.” She wasn’t going to touch the subject of children. It wasn’t even on her mind. But animals? She wouldn’t mind more of those. Sometimes she did miss living on a farm. She’d been spoiled growing up around so many animals of all kinds.
“Well,” she started as she picked up the ornament she’d chosen. “If we hang these first, we can ensure they get prime position on the tree.”
“No wolves.” Lara shivered. It pretty much put dogs right out, though the right pooch could sway her. Just the right kind of dog. Or a horse.
Lara came up behind Bo and hugged her. Resting her chin on Bo’s shoulder, she smiled. “Yours first, prime real estate. Make sure to leave a spot for a big ornament I brought over from London near the top though.”
“Yeah, no wolves.” Bo liked dogs, but she didn’t have to have one as a pet. “I always thought guinea pigs and hamsters were totally cute. Though how they’d take with cats is another matter. But I grew up with farm animals, so I could suggest some different kinds of animals than the typical pet types.”
She smiled, leaning back against Lara as she looked at the tree. “I promise to leave plenty of room for that ornament.” She turned her head to press a kiss to Lara’s cheek.
“We can think of something between a cat and a dog, I’m sure.” They could always go full lesbian cat ladies and get the legal limit of cats, but that would probably be pushing it. She let go of Bo and nudged her towards the tree. “The tree is waiting.”
“I’m sure we will.” They’d find something that they couldn’t pass up, so she wouldn’t worry about it. Besides, looking at pet adoption sites for the area could be fun. Even more fun going to places like the humane society to look at the animals. Upon being nudged towards the tree, she chuckled a bit and walked over to it, looking it over for some moments to judge where she wanted to hang the ornament. She settled on a spot somewhat near the top and on the right side. “There,” she said with a smile as she stepped back to admire it.
“Perfect.” Lara walked around the tree, fished a cat out of it, and then found a place a little blow Bo’s for her ornament. Then she stepped over to Bo and put an arm around her. “They belong together. You made a good choice.”
She grinned, slipping an arm around Lara as she looked at the ornaments, then looked at her. “They belong together just like you and I belong together.” Yeah, it was sappy, but Bo was prone to such sappiness. Not to mention it was the truth.
“I love when you get sappy.” Lara had grown up with a dearth of sappiness and it was something she hadn’t known she’d wanted or missed until she had it. “You’re such a romantic.”
Touching Bo’s chin with two fingers, Lara smiled adoringly. “There aren’t many things I’m more certain of, than marrying you.”
“Lucky for you, you make it easy to be sappy.” Bo said with a grin and a sparkle in her eyes. “But yeah, I’m totally a romantic, I fully admit it!” Which clearly wasn’t a bad thing. Her grin widened and grew more endearing and emotional. “I am happy that I make you happy. I never really saw myself as the marrying type, but you proved me wrong. You are the love of my life.” Lara was the one, and she had to wonder if she’d subconsciously known that from the moment they’d met.
“I’m sorry I make it easy.” Lara didn’t sound sorry in the slightest bit. Romance wasn’t a bad thing, and Lara had discovered she was fond of it. Sure, there were other important considerations but romance could be a part of that. Cuddling close to Bo in front of the fireplace… “You know, we’ll have been together a year soon. Hardly seems like any time at all.”
It felt like longer.
Bo had to chuckle as she slipped her arms around Lara’s neck as she cuddled her close. “I think you enjoy making it easy.” She teased lightly. Bo certainly enjoyed romance, she’d had so little of it both here and in the dreams. It was nice to simply enjoy being with someone like this without it being completely drama-filled. They had their share of disagreements and so forth, but for the most part it was easy to be with Lara.
“It’s hard to believe it’s been a year already. It both feels like it’s been longer and shorter than that. And I wouldn’t trade a single second of it for anything.”
Lara would give Bo all the romantic moments she could handle. She wondered if they should do anything for that year. Getting out of town would probably be good anyway. Lara and fireworks were not a good combination. It grated on her to a certain level. She’d used to love them.
“Not letting you go, Bo Dennis. Never.”
“Good because I’m never letting you go, Lara Croft.” Bo said with a smile. She pressed her forehead against Lara’s closing her eyes for a moment. She loved these little moments, the closeness and tenderness.
“We should do something for our anniversary. At the very least get out of town to somewhere that we won’t hear fireworks.” Bo was always conscientious of that about Lara, and had no qualms about going out of town to avoid fireworks setting Lara off.
“Good. I want to be with you, and away from any loud noises.” Lara chuckled to herself. “Well, any loud noises that aren’t going to come out of your mouth.”
Yes, Lara Croft could talk dirty, but only around Bo. Except she just had to ruin the joke and explain. Lara waved her hand, and added, “Because I’m going to.. You know.”
Bo chuckled, brushing a stray piece of hair behind Lara’s ear. “Why Miss Croft, it sounds as though you have a plan to have your way with me.” She teased lightly with a grin. She liked that Lara was getting into doing more dirty talk of late, and she was so adorable when she got flustered about it.
“Whatever gave you that idea?” Lara’s face colored and she was suddenly bashful and shy. They were alone, and Bo still made her fumble over her words when it came to anything more vanilla than groping. “No one is going to have their way with anyone.”
She loved it when Lara blushed and got flustered. She smiled knowingly. “I see. So I perhaps will just be making those noises on my own with you there?” Yes she knew that might give Lara a heart attack, but she couldn’t hold her tongue. It was also probably the least lewd thing she could say in response to that. And Bo was definitely implying masturbating with Lara watching her.
Lara’s mouth went dry, and she dug her nails into her palms. That was an appealing thought and mental picture and one that was hard to let go of. Stepping away from Bo, Lara leaned against the recliner. “Assuming I let you do that on your own.”
“If that means that you would intervene and join in, then by all means.” Bo said, winking at Lara. She let that hang in the air while letting Lara have a little breathing room. And also before she actually killed Lara with this sort of talk. While she was getting better at it, Bo knew not to overload her. “Now, perhaps we should finish decorating the tree before we become too side-tracked?” There was a suggestive curve to her smile, but she was being serious about finishing the tree before they entered into other activities.
As if to answer Bo, Lara hung an ornament from the front of Bo’s shirt, then turned to actually put ornaments up on the tree itself. She wasn’t going to let Bo get her that easily, and half the fun was in pushing her buttons for long enough that Lara could turn the tables.
Bo’s eyebrows arched as Lara hung the ornament on her shirt. That was oddly hot. Or not so oddly, but it was hot. “At least we know you like to decorate me,” she commented as she turned back to decorating the tree. And she eyed Lara out of the corner of her eye as she waited for her reaction.
“Undecorating you is the fun part. Or perhaps getting you tangled up in ribbon and wrapping paper.” Lara had considered some of what could be done with tinsel and ribbon.
Was it getting hot in here? Bo could swear it was getting hot in there. “Being tangled in ribbon and wrapping paper would make for quite the present.” She licked her lips a bit, also wondering what Lara would look like wrapped in ribbon. It was a very sexy thought.
Lara smirked knowingly. “You know, I’ve always wanted to get a chance to wear you down. Now that you can’t go blue-eyed on me.” She bet she could outlast Bo. There were times she came close to even with Bo’s succubus powers!
Normally, her eyes would’ve flashed blue here, but they remained brown. “Well, now you have the chance. Besides, you have been building up your endurance taking my powered self for a ride.” She chuckled. Bo had little doubt that Lara could tire her out. For one thing, Bo wasn’t used to being human any more. She was weaker and possibly even a little clumsier than normal. Her sex drive was still high, but it wasn’t ramped to one million on a scale of one to ten. She was a more normal ten. Or there abouts.
“To be fair,” Lara pointed out. “I needed to build up my endurance for my climbing and work activities, and there isn’t really a way that’s nearly as fun as exercising with you.”
How she kept a straight face saying that, Lara didn’t even know. But it was nice to have their sex drives more on par. Kind of like it had been at the beginning, despite the fact that Lara’s sex drive was mostly turned on by Bo...existing.
Damn Lara was getting better at this. Bo was rather proud of that fact. Also in the back of her mind, Bo hoped that her being human again would help prove to Lara that it wasn’t her succubus powers that solely guided her attraction to her. She’d at least point that out later, if she became a succubus again, anyway. She had no idea if this was permanent or not.
“Well, I do have to say that I’m glad exercising with me is much more fun.” Bo replied with a grin. “I like making things fun.”
Lara very deliberately took some ribbon and set it aside, before resuming decorating the tree. To distract herself from Bo’s hotness, she started to tell Bo the story of each ornament. The time she and Roth got lost in Dublin and found a little shop. When she and Sam went to the Red Desert in Wyoming. The last Christmas she had with her parents before they disappeared. The shop in London she’d go to every year when she wasn’t out of town. Sharing this with Bo was important to her.
Bo listened closely, taking in each story Lara had to tell. The tapestry that was going on the tree was quite the varied and exotic one. And she loved the stories. She was appreciative that Lara was taking the time to share them with her, especially ones involving her parents. Though finally it came to the point where they needed to hang the ornament they’d both picked now.
“And now we get to add another story to the tree,” she said with a warm smile.
“One story this year, and another next year,” Lara promised. “And many, many more.”
