Who: Anna and Myrcella When: November Where: Mall What: Preparing for Anna’s birthday Rating/Warnings: Low/None Status: Complete
Anna’s birthday was coming up fast, and she had quite the celebration planned. First, there was whatever Wash had planned. Then the big party. Then she was planning a couple days worth of road trip with Caroline. And then, of course, Thanksgiving. It was going to be a busy week! But a good one.
And Anna needed cute clothes for all of it. She wanted a new dress for the party, and some road trip clothes, and something nice for Thanksgiving. And… maybe… some lingerie for her night with Wash? It meant they had a lot of stores to visit!
Anna sat outside of the Starbucks with a blended, iced, coffee drink, waiting for Myrcella to arrive. She hummed to herself, watching the barista make the drinks for the other customers and pass them across the bar.
Myrcella had been really busy around Halloween, between doing make up and fun things at the bookstore and running her normal business as well as attending a party with Jeremy it seemed like things had been all go, go, go. So she was looking forward to some retail therapy with Anna. Made even better by the fact that they had a list of needed things.
“Anna” she greeted her friend moving to hug her, “I’m sorry, I struggled to find parking. It’s busy today”
“Hey!” Anna brightened at the sight of her friend coming over. She shook her head as she stood to return the hug. “It’s really no big deal. Totally crazy how busy it is all of a sudden, hmm? It’s like the end of Hallowe'en opens the floodgates to Christmas Shopping.” She beamed at her friend. “Don’t all these people know my birthday comes first?”
“That is exactly it, I’ve already had a couple of Christmas enquiries” Myrcella said, “But right now your birthday is the most important thing and we are going to find the perfect things for you”
Anna clapped her hands together in an excited way, and bounced up out of her chair. As they started walking along the hall, she ticked things off on her fingers. “I’m ready! Let’s do this thing! I need a whole week’s worth of clothes. I’ve got dinner with my sister, and my birthday dinner with Wash, and then the party, and a three day road trip with Caroline, and then Thanksgiving, then I’m going to a convention with Wash the following weekend!”
“Oh my goodness, a birthday that lasts a week is pretty fun. And it sounds like you have some amazing things planned. It makes me seem boring” Myrcella grinned, not that she would really change anything. She liked her life as it was right now especially with her career taking off. “I am positive we’ll find perfect outfits for it all”
Anna gasped. “You’re not boring! Never boring.” She said, shaking her head. “That’s ridiculous. You’ve got so much going for you! We both do! I’m amazed we have time to shop, considering our schedules.” Anna grinned at her friend. “All right, let’s get started. Where should we stop first?”
Myrcella laughed, “Thank you. You’re right about our schedules though, we both seem to have a lot on our plate” she smiled, “Okay well I’ve heard that the little boutique on the first floor just got some really cute new dresses in”
“Yes! That sounds perfect!” Anna looped her arm through Myrcella’s and led the other woman over to the escalator so the could go to the first floor. “You know, winter time is so sad for clothes. Isn’t it? I much prefer summer dresses to winter outfits. That’s not to say there aren’t cute clothes in the winter, but… well, I suppose winter’s not all that wintery around here. Unless it’s snowing. Which it does sometimes…”
“As long as the dress is thick enough and you have some cute woollen tights it can be cute” Myrcella said, growing up in the UK she’d had to get used to putting warm nice outfits together. “I do hope the snow isn’t too bad this year, Jeremy and I are planning to go and visit my family this year. We’ve tried a couple of times and something has always happened to stop us”
Anna nodded. “I’m gonna have to get a new pair of tights. I had these great black ones, but they ripped. A huge run right down the back of my thigh. Totally embarrassing.” Anna said, moving with Myrcella from the escalator toward the shop. “I’m really sorry about that. I wish I could stop it. It always scares me when I see snow. Reminds me of my Dreams and makes me worry about Elsa.”
“We can definitely get those, tights are an essential part of a girls wardrobe, thick and thin” Myrcella said as they made their way towards the shop which had a new winter themed window display. “Oh it’s okay, I know things happen but I really want to see my little brother this year, he’s missed me a lot and I’ve missed him”
Anna nodded. She stopped in front of the window to look in at the display. “I know what you mean. When I was younger I barely got to see my sister during the school year, and I missed her terribly.” She motioned to a really cute, grey, sweater dress. “I like that one. With the turtleneck? What do you think?”
“Oh I’m sorry. It must be nice to be able to see her all the time now. I mean if you miss her all you have to do is watch the morning weather report” Myrcella said with a cheeky grin, “Ooo that is nice. And you could even pair it with brighter accessories and tights if you wanted to” Myrcella liked doing that with what were considered duller colours.
With a laugh, Anna responded, “Yes! Exactly! She’s never far so long as the cable doesn’t go out.” It was mostly teasing. Anna was so thankful that she was close with her sister again. Then she turned her attention back to the sweater dress. “Dark greens and purples would go great with that grey! Let’s go take a look. I bet they have some other things, too.” She led the way into the shop, gravitating straight for the dress she’d seen in the window.
Myrcella saw her brother on skype every week but it wasn’t quite the same. There was no popping over to see him when she wanted to. She was lucky that she’d found a good text plan for her phone since they text a lot.
“Oh you’re right. A purple would be gorgeous” she agreed, dark or light would work with that grey too which opened up even more doors. They entered the store and Myrcella spotted a lovely purple fluffy jumper which looked comfortable and cute.
Anna sure loved purple. She knew that together they’d find the perfect thing. While inside the shop, Anna found three sweater dresses she really liked, and a pair of thick tights with a floral pattern on them. She grabbed some leggings, too, because one could never have too many of those. It was a pretty good haul for their first stop.
“I need some new jeans next. Good ones. Ones that make me look tall and curvy.” Anna said, grinning softly.
It was definitely a good haul for their first stop, but then they were girls who definitely knew how to shop. It had always come naturally to Myrcella, though she had to admit her favourite kind of shopping was either book or makeup.
Myrcella grinned back, “Tall and curvy jeans” she nodded, “You got it” And they headed towards Myrcella’s preferred jeans shop.
