Who: Hanna and Caroline What: Shopping date! Caroline shares her exciting news When: This afternoon! Where: The mall Warnings: None. Status: Complete
The previous night had been one of the best nights of Caroline’s life. Okay it was the best night. And today was going to be a great day. Part of her wanted to just stay in bed with Peeta all day, but she had a stupid final. Besides she had plans to go shopping with Hanna after and Caroline needed some outfits that matched her ring. But then what wouldn’t go with that gorgeous piece of jewelry? And she was dying to tell someone the news. She had already called her mom, but telling Hanna face to face? Seeing her friends excitement? It was something she couldn’t wait for.
She waited for Hanna at the coffee shop in the food court at the mall. Sitting at a table, sipping her latte with her left hand to show off her ring to any passers by as she waited. It wasn’t long before Hanna showed up and Caroline practically threw her drink down as she jumped up to greet her friend in a hug. “Oh my god!” Caroline said as she squeezed her friend. “You’ll never believe what happened last night.”
So having Mrs. Grunwald show up and all but confirming that Noel Freaking Khan was a threat? Yeah. Hanna was unimpressed with her dreams and was still on edge. Maybe more since clearly they’d been wrong about Rollins, so she had killed the wrong person and the person who had tortured her? Still out there. Add in the end of quarter stress because of finals and Hanna was a bundle of nerves and stress. Which meant that going shopping with Caroline was a much needed and wanted distraction.
Arriving at the coffee shop, Hanna smiled brightly and returned the hug before pulling away.
“Oh really?” And that was when the younger blonde noticed the ring on Caroline’s hand. “OHMIGOD!” And since it was Hanna? She quickly picked up Caroline’s hand and examined the ring, nodding in approval. It was a gorgeous ring. “Congratulations!” Because it was obvious that Caroline said yes. You didn’t wear a freaking engagement ring if you said no.
Before Caroline could even officially tell Hanna, her friend saw the ring. It was pretty difficult to miss. Peeta had done a good job picking out the ring after all. It wasn’t some tiny thing like Alaric had given her in the dreams.
“Thanks!” Caroline beamed letting Hanna examine her ring. “Didn’t Peeta do an amazing job?” He did know her well. It also went well with her daylight ring. The two rings she would never take off.
For as oblivious as Hanna could be at times, that didn’t mean she was going to miss a freaking diamond on her friend’s finger. Please! So instead, she just examined the ring some more.
“It’s freaking gorgeous. Peeta did good.” As if he wouldn’t. While she didn’t see Peeta all that often, she knew how much he loved Caroline, it was obvious in how they interacted with one another. And with that love came knowing and with that knowing came freaking awesome engagement ring that was so totally Caroline.
“Ohmigod, can I design your dress? Please say I can design your dress!”
What? She was majoring in fashion and she’d helped Ella in the dreams with preparing for her wedding. To actually get to design the wedding dress of one of her closest friends? Of course she would offer. And it was super important so obviously had to be the second thing she said following congratulations.
Considering how new the engagement was Caroline had barely even thought about the actual wedding. But at Hanna’s suggestion she quickly nodded her head. “Oh my god!” That seemed to be the saying of the day. “Yes! That’s the best idea ever.” Who didn't want a one of a kind wedding dress? Plus she knew Hanna would do a good job. Not just because she was studying fashion but she also knew Caroline well and her taste. Having a dress designed by one of her best friends? Perfect idea.
And speaking of best friends…
“You totally have to be a bridesmaid too!” Okay so maybe not the best way to ask but there was just so much excitement at the moment that she couldn't help but blurt it out like that.
‘Oh My God’ seemed to be a perfectly reasonable saying for the day. Because really now, engagement! And while she wasn’t even thinking bridal showers yet, Hanna knew that Caroline’s would be amazing (and also you know, not ruined by A like hers was in the dream). So much to think about and plan for.
“Of course it’s the best idea.” No one said Hanna wasn’t smug or proud of herself when she came up with ideas. This was just one of those times where she had both the expertise and excitement for it. And it wasn’t something like hunting down a murderer and constantly being reminded she wasn’t the smart one of the group.
Nor did she mind how Caroline didn’t actually ask, since they were both blunt and the excitement of the moment.
“Um, duh? That was obvious.” Which probably wasn’t the proper way to accept the position but who was Hanna to ever go the proper way?
Caroline just laughed at Hanna’s response. They were definitely on the same page. Though it was rare that they weren’t. “Yes!” she agreed giving Hanna another hug for accepting the position in her Hanna way. “Now, let’s get shopping!” Maybe they could even go into a bridal shop. Get ideas for Caroline’s future dress.
