Lexi couldn’t have been happier that Aramis and Porthos were back in the OC. She had missed them both greatly after they’d moved and while they’d tried to keep in touch, life always got too busy, but now that they were bad, the only thing they had to worry about was the crazy things that happened on occasion. And those they could usually take care of fairly easily.
While she had been at their welcome back get together, it had become clear that Lexi was not the only person who had missed the couple so it had been hard to catch up properly so she and Porthos had made plans to get together the following weekend at the same bar that the three of them had first hung out at.
Lexi had arrived first and after sending Porthos a quick text to let him know, she found a spot outside where he would be sure to see her when he arrived.
God, Porthos had missed being home, he really had. Much as he enjoyed spending time with Aramis’s vast and wonderful family, he’d missed Orange County something terrible.
So he’s more than happy to meet up with Lexi for a drink and to catch up. He waves as he gets out of the car, hurrying over to kiss her cheek. “Hello, gorgeous. Stand up and give me a big hug.”
Lexi may have seen Porthos not long ago at his and Aramis’ welcome back party thing, but getting a one on one with him was much different, “I’ll give you more than one hug.” She grinned and wrapped her arms around him in a tight hug. “I’m so glad you’re back.”
“Oh good!” Porthos half lifts her off her feet in a giant bear hugh and kisses her other cheek before setting her down. “I’ll take all the hugs you feel like giving me. I think I told you at the party, but you look fantastic. You’re doing well? No one I need to take out at the knee caps for upsetting you?”
Lexi laughed as Porthos lifted her off her feet, “I am doing well. And no, there is no one whose kneecaps you need to take out.” She smiled at Porthos and linked her arm with his as she turned him towards the door of the bar, “And you look fantastic too, by the way, but I think I told you that at the party.”
“Well, my services are available if that ever comes up.” Porthos gives her a squeeze as they head into the bar. “So do you, radiant as always. I look scruffy, I need a trim,” he says, ruffling at his own hair.
“I will definitely keep that in mind.” Sure, Lexi could probably break someone’s kneecaps easier than Porthos could, but she wasn’t going to get all technical at the moment, “Scruffy looks good on you though. Very manly.” She grinned as they headed towards the bar, “So, what’re you having? First round is on me.”
“Ah let’s just start with a beer and we’ll get into shots later.” He runs his fingers through his hair again which is a bit wild and curly right now. Well it’s always curly but now it’s long and curly. His beard could probably use a trim as well. “You think I look manly?”
“Beer works for me,” She got the bartender’s attention and ordered them each a beer then turned back to grin at Porthos, “Of course I think you look manly. Who wouldn’t?” When the beers were set down on the bartop, she paid then passed Porthos his own, “I’m sure Aramis would agree with me.”
Porthos laughs and slaps his hand against the bar. “Well I should hope so! He did marry me, after all. Did he tell you we’re starting a business? Baking, and all that. I’m thrilled, it’s time for a change.”
Lexi grinned and took a sip of her beer, “Very true. And I think it’s safe to say that he does indeed think you’re very manly.” Lexi couldn’t imagine that Aramis would think any different, “He didn’t. Like baked goods? Muffins and cakes and stuff?” It seemed like a lot of people in Orange County had a thing for starting bakeries or something similar.
“Whatever Aramis feels like, because he’s the boss,” Porthos says with a fond smile. “I’m more on the savoury side, so I need to figure out how I’m contributing. Something with New Orleans flavour, that’s for sure.”
“Well, consider me a customer.” Lexi was glad that she was the sort of vampire who could still eat human food, because there was so much good human food, “If you need a taste tester, I’ll be that too.”
“Or we could just invite you over for dinner some time. You know I’m happy to cook for you. Or for anyone, really. That’s why I’m excited to start some sort of food business. Seems a shame that Aramis and I waste our talents on just each other.”
“I will never turn down a dinner invite,” Lexi grinned and took another sip of her beer, “I’ve missed spending time with you and Aramis, so whenever you want to invite me over for dinner, I’m game.”
