It’s always best to start hands on
Who: Anne and Jim
What: Post-Halloween shenanigans
Where: Anne’s office?
When: After this
Rating: Low?
Status: Complete when posted

Anne had invited Jim to her office to talk about the fool she’d made out of herself over Halloween. She rarely got out of her office these days, so it was hard to arrange to meet anywhere else. Running the hotel was taking over her life, something she would have to aim to change once things had settled down. If they ever settled down. Waiting for his knock on her door was tortuous, so she busied herself with looking over the cashflow figures for the third time.

Jim knocked on the door to her office, peaking in. He wasn’t too concerned, and already had an idea of what he wanted to say to her to reassure her. Jim was both easily flattered and fully understanding of when someone wasn’t in control of their inhibitions.

That said, he’d try hard not to tease her. Much. “Anne?”

The pen Anne had been spinning in her right hand skittered across the table as she jumped. “Jim! Please, uh...come in, come in, how are you?” she asked, rising from her seat and reaching over to the other side of the desk to pick up the pen.

“I’m good, thanks.” He smiled at her, coming in and taking a seat across from her. “Don’t stop whatever you were doing on my account. I know your work is important to you.”

“Not, no, it's fine, I uh… wasn't really getting anywhere anyway,” Anne gave him a weak smile and put her pen to one side. “Can I get you a drink? Tea? Coffee?” she gestured to the kettle and drinks stuff the side of the room. She moved over to it and filled it from the small sink with her back to him, feeling her cheeks already pinking from her embarrassment.

“Coffee is fine. Sugar if you have it, but I’ve drunk plenty of coffee black.” His eyes followed her as she moved, a twinkle of amusement at the corner of them.

“I’ll have you know that this is one of the finest establishments in the city Mr Kirk, if you want some sugar, then you can have some sugar,” Anne looked at him coyly over her shoulder before returning her attention to the drinks. She bent over to pull the milk jug out of the fridge and put it on the counter.

He grinned at her, watching her bend over. “I never trust appearances. A little dive could be amazing, and the Hilton could have terrible service. But if you’re here it can’t be all bad.”

“All that bad?” Anne repeated, looking at Jim pointedly. “Surely you know my qualities better than to assume that I would offer sub-par service to my clients. I should be insulted, Mr Kirk,” Anne grinned and moved back to the kettle to finish off their drinks.

The oath to not tease her went promptly out the window. “I’m sure you can find a suitable way to punish me for such an insult.”

Anne bit her lip and looked over her shoulder at him. “Punishment you say? Hmm…” she replied quietly and slowly stirred her cup of tea. Picking up the tray with the cups, sugar pot and some sweet biscuits on it, she moved to stand between where he sat and the desk, setting the tray down carefully. “I don’t know...you sound a little too...eager for that,” she replied, smiling impishly and turning to lean back against the desk with her hands behind her back.

“Do I?” There’d been that time he’d lost that bet and had to dress up and sing like in a musical, but he’d actually enjoyed that. Did that count? Jim looked up at her, a taunting smile on his face. “I don’t know what you’re talking about.”

“I think that you know exactly what I’m talking about,” Anne grinned at him. “You, Mister Kirk, are a glutton for punishment and you would find far too much...pleasure in a good old fashioned telling off,” she teased, taking care to enunciate the word ‘pleasure’ with a wicked glint in her eye.

“I always did enjoy a good spanking.” Jim quirked his brows and toasted her with his coffee. “But nothing beats the sounds of a passionate woman.”

Anne flushed bright red, biting her lip as she dipped her chin. She chuckled slightly and shook her head. “Well then, I suppose we should get started,” she replied coyly, looking up at him from under her lashes and trying to look as innocent as possible.

“And here I thought you were supposed to be all apologetic.” Jim sipped his coffee, grinning behind the cup. “Or did you like being a little unbuttoned?”

Anne grinned and lifted her chin a little. “I have to admit it was somewhat...liberating to be metaphorically...unbuttoned,” she shrugged, swaying innocently against the desk. “And it doesn’t help that you seem to be quite the enabler,” she wagged her finger at him playfully.

“I hear no complaints.” Jim set the coffee aside and steepled his fingers. “It’s fun to be unbuttoned, but only as far as you’re comfortable with.”

“Well Mr Kirk, that is a limit I have yet to have the...pleasure of experimenting with,” Anne told him quietly. “But certainly one I wouldn't mind looking into, especially with a trusted friend and partner,” she smiled at him, bashful but honest. Living a hectic life with her father hadn't left her a lot of time for socialising with kids her own age growing up and then suddenly she was thrust into the world of business where she learned to be polite and diplomatic. Not exactly an environment that encouraged flirting, at least not to the the degree that she had been doing with Jim.

“Lucky for you, I’m all about science and experiments.” That was also the truth. This need to see the universe and learn about it. But it made for a great pick-up line, too. Especially with adorably bashful women.

Anne smiled brightly at him. “Is that so? What, pray tell, would you recommend for starters then?” she grinned.

“It’s always best to start hands on.” He wriggled his fingers. “Explore all slopes and caverns, open up access to new and exciting things.”

Anne’s jaw dropped and all she could do for a few seconds was gape at him. “I...Jim…” she suddenly found it hard to find words to respond. What was really happening here? she thought to herself. She liked Jim a lot and she couldn't deny wanting to get to know him more intimately.

"Too much?" Jim grimaced, picking up his drink again. "Sorry. I get carried away sometimes. I didn't mean to make you uncomfortable."

“No, it's fine, I just...what do you want from me?” Anne asked directly but breathlessly, tilting her head as she watched him.

“Whatever you’re willing to give me. I have a wide definition on what friends can offer each other,” Jim replied. “I value your friendship, Anne.” He reached over, putting a hand on her arm. “I wouldn’t want anything to change that.”

“And if I said I wanted you to kiss me?” Anne ventured quietly.

Jim looked torn for a split second. He didn’t want to hurt her. Not kissing her could hurt her. Kissing her could lead to her getting hurt. Captain Kirk Problems. Running his hand over his head, he got up, effectively pinning her between him and the desk. “Is that what you want?”

“God yes,” Anne replied breathlessly, her gaze locked on his face. Constance was always telling her to be more daring and such, what could go wrong?

Broken hearts could go wrong. But Jim stroked a hand down Anne’s cheek and leaned in to kiss her. He’d seen a thousand wonders of the galaxy, but kissing a woman was always one of the greatest.

Anne's eyes slipped closed at the contact and she gasped in a breath. It had been awhile since her last kiss and she had forgotten how it could make you feel. Resting her hands on his chest, she slid one up for her fingers to touch his jaw. Pushing away from the desk slightly, she pressed herself against him but let him lead the kiss, a willing victim of his charms and clever mouth.

Even though she was trapped between him and the desk, Jim left enough space that she could slip out if she wanted to. That didn’t stop him from deepening the kiss, or smiling into it at her response. One hand slipped around to press against her back.

Anne felt helpless as he pulled her closer, her head tipped back as he deepened their kiss. Sliding both of her hands up his neck, she pushed one into his hair and clutched at his shoulder with the other. Starting to feel lightheaded, she pulled away from the kiss slightly to rest her forehead against his and catch her breath. She gave a weak little laugh and smiled happily, stroking her fingers through his hair. “Well, that was…” she trailed off breathlessly with a slight shake of her head, unable to find an adequate word about how good it had made her feel.

“Out of this world?” Jim quipped, rubbing his thumb down her jaw and then to her throat. He was a little breathless himself, but not above making a space pun. “I know I’m not that good, but you were.”

Anne laughed at him, he could be ridiculously charming and smooth talking sometimes but right now she just wanted him to kiss her again. She shivered at the feel of his thumb brushing against the skin of her throat. “Just kiss me again,” she grinned up at him, raking her fingers through his hair again.

Voice just a murmur, Jim leaned in again. “Whatever the lady wishes.”
