Justin wasn’t exactly a reserved person. He often did and said what he wanted when he wanted and didn’t really care what others thought of him. He was often blunt and to the point and didn’t beat around the bush when it came to most things. For the last few weeks, ever since he’d met Royston, he’d been a little more reserved around the older man despite the fact that he knew he was developing a crush on the actor. Normally when he liked someone he didn’t keep it to himself, but he knew that Royston had the whole situation with the politician's son and he didn’t want to push him away.
However, something had compelled him to call Royston that night and insist that the older man join him at a club and he was prepared to not take no for an answer. Once Royston had agreed, Justin told him which club to meet him at then proceeded to get ready.
Royston, on the other hand, was particularly reserved at times. He was good at distraction. See this flashy thing over here and ignore the thing over here. Maybe he wasn’t very good at hiding his affections for people or not getting caught up in trysts somehow, but he was much better at saying what he should rather than what he wanted to. Which was why he had been carefully talking himself out of feeling anything for Justin. He could feel the hints of a crush developing, but he was older and came with far more complications than the average person.
He’d also been wallowing a lot recently, the dreams bleeding into his reality and making him want to mope around the house and stare at things with varying levels of displeasure. Justin had called in the middle of a session of frustration with himself and his situation. But he felt a strange sort of joy at the fact that he was inviting him out. Which was why he’d said yes. He was far too vain to let himself leave without cleaning up and looking less...disheveled. This was not helping to talk himself out of any attachment, but he found himself doing it all the same.
When he arrived at the club, he stepped out of his car and looked around to find Justin.
Justin had been waiting outside the club for Royston and spotted him as soon as he got out of his car and made his way straight towards him. “You made it! And you look good,” Grinning, Justin openly checked Royston out then gestured towards the club, “Should we go inside?” Justin was ready to get a few drinks and dance the night away and was extremely happy that he was getting to spend the night with Royston.
Royston couldn’t stop the smile that formed when Justin walked over. He knew he probably shouldn’t have been so openly observant of Justin’s figure either, but he didn’t really feel the need to keep himself from looking. Especially since he was being admired in return. “I live to impress. It seems that you also do.” He glanced up toward the club before nodding. “Probably the best plan before I decide that I’m too old for clubs.” He walked toward the entrance only somewhat aware of the looks he was getting. He was more focused on Justin.
“That’s ridiculous. You’re not too old.” Justin had seen guys of all ages at various clubs he went so he didn’t think that Royston would be the oldest guy there by far and if he was getting looks it was most likely because they recognized him and were probably jealous that Justin was there with him. There wasn’t much of a line so they got in easily and without giving it a second thought, Justin reached out for Royston’s wrist and led the way towards the bar, “I’ve been dying for a drink all day.” Blue eyes scanned the various bottles behind the bar, trying to decide what kind of concoction he wanted to start off with.
Thirty-five was perhaps not yet elderly enough to assume he was too elderly, but it was a vague concern. It was simply his vanity speaking. That and the few gray hairs at his temple. The skin on his wrist felt warm in a way more pleasant than the general heat that came from the collection of bodies. “And a drink you will get,” Royston said, a hint of amusement in his voice. He wasn’t really a mixed drinks sort of person. He’d stick to beer, but not the stuff that tasted like horse piss. He didn’t mind spending more for a better beer. “Found what you’re looking for,” he asked, leaning in a little closer than necessary, but he wanted to be closer and it was a bit loud, so why shouldn’t he be?
Justin didn’t mind how close Royston was and he turned his head to smile in response, “I think so.” Glancing back towards the bar, he got the attention of one of the bartenders and gave him his order then while he waited for Royston to place his own order, he let his gaze wander over the other man while he was distracted so that he could really take him in without him being aware of it. It gave him a little extra time to do a bit of oggling.
Royston made his order, quickly sliding his card to the man behind the bar before Justin could offer any argument. He turned to look at him once their drinks were made. “So what is the plan? Drink and then dance or drink and dance? I should know how much multitasking to prepare for.” His voice was laced with amusement as he studied Justin for another moment. He’d already shut off all the warning bells that had been sounding in his head since he first noticed his interest in the other man. All of the things that told him this was a terrible idea had been drowned out by his desire to be in the same room as him...even if that room contained quite a lot of other people.
Unlike when they went for sparkling lattes, Justin wasn’t going to argue about paying tonight and he thanked both the bartender and Royston once their drinks were placed on the bar top, “Why don’t we drink first then dance. Less chance of spillage then.” He grinned at Royston as he took a sip of his own drink.
Royston nodded at his words. That was probably the best way to go about it. Either way, he was here and so was Justin. “Spilled drinks are definitely not what one looks forward to. I believe the term is ‘party foul’.” He took a sip from his beer, moving closer again. It took him a little longer to finish his drink than it had Justin, but once they’d both finished their drinks, he grabbed the other man’s hand and pulled him toward the dancefloor. “I may need a little assistance with the dancing style associated with this sort of music,” he said, leaning in close again so Justin could hear him. “But looking at the crowd, it doesn’t seem particularly difficult.”
The closeness they shared while drinking was only a preview of what was to come once they reached the dance floor. As Royston reached for Justin’s hand, he didn’t resist in the least and let the older man lead him out onto the crowded dance floor where he leaned into him to respond, “Just follow my lead.” One of Justin’s favorite pastimes was clubbing and dancing, both in and out of the dreams, so he liked to think that he was pretty good.
Smiling, he started moving to the beat of the music; particularly his hips, all the while keeping eye contact with Royston.
Follow his lead. Royston figured he could manage that. In the dreams, he’d learned to control his Talent and to use it properly. This was likely easier than that. “I think I can handle that.” It took a moment for him to really figure out the beat and what to do with his body, but watching Justin move helped him to be able to feel it better. All of that helped him to dance a little better than he’d started out. He smiled as he focused more on Justin’s eyes, all too aware of just how blue they were. It wasn’t the first time that he’d noticed, but it was the first time he’d been looking directly into them for an extended period of time. “Do you realize how terribly attractive you are?” It was possibly cheesy, but the question had popped into his head and he seemed to be incapable of not asking or doing the things he wanted today.
If possible, Justin’s grin widened as he looked up at Royston, “I may have been told that a few times,” Justin hadn’t realized until that moment that Royston was practically the same height as Brian, in the dreams, and in a way it was comforting. Billy had only been an inch or two taller than Justin, so being with someone taller was comforting in a weird way. “I’m sure you’ve been told that a lot. I mean, look at you.”
Royston had a feeling that that smile would be his undoing. He already wanted to find another way to make him smile. Certainly he’d get to see it more often. “Well, whoever said it, they clearly had good taste. And I would know because I have excellent taste.” He chuckled softly at Justin’s comment. “Well, it does seem to come up occasionally, but then that’s the movie industry. We’re all very focused on appearances.” He tried not to be too focused, but he already had come to terms with his vanity. It was part of why he found the gray hairs at his temples slightly concerning. In his dreams at least he’d done something to deserve them. Here he’d just aged and been more than pampered by the Hollywood lifestyle. “But I like it best when it comes from you.” No, it was not an original line, but one couldn’t expect overly original lines in this day and age. He would have to forgive himself.
Royston may have thought the grey at his temples made him look old, but Justin thought it made him look even more attractive. “It’s not a horrible thing to be a little focused on appearances sometimes.” Reaching up, Justin wrapped his arms around Royston’s neck, bringing their bodies closer together as he continued moving his own to the beat of the music. “Then I guess I’ll just have to say it more often.”
Once Justin moved closer, Royston felt invisible butterflies start fluttering around his stomach. It made him feel unbelievably ridiculous and far younger than he was. His arms went around Justin’s waist, which made it even easier to follow along with the beat. “I was rather hoping that you would.” He smiled as he continued to dance. “But I’d be just as happy with more excuses to spend time with you.” Part of him was aware of the fact that he’d decided to be more cautious should he choose to pursue someone new, but the rest of him wanted to see more of the younger man. It was an impulse he was having difficulty ignoring.
Justin liked the feeling of Royston’s arms around his waist and if it were possible he moved closer, their bodies touching now. “You don’t need excuses to spend time with me.” One of his hands moved slightly so that his fingers toyed with the hair at the nape of Royston’s neck, “If you wanna see me, all you have to do is ask.”
“Don’t I?” He hadn’t stopped smiling and he wasn’t sure he really wanted to. It had been a while since someone’s fingers had been in his hair. He hadn’t considered his relationship with Erik to be terribly affectionate. Yes, he liked him quite a deal more than he ought to have, but he couldn’t be sure most days if Erik had ever felt the same. Had he been, perhaps Royston wouldn’t have been here. Somehow he couldn’t really complain about it. He liked where he was right now. “Is that how it works? I suppose this is what happens when you’ve been out of practice for so long.” Though, so long wasn’t really long at all. “I’ll try not to monopolize your time.”
Justin nodded, still smiling, “That’s how it works.” Leaning in a little closer, he stood up on his toes a little so that his lips were closer to Royston’s ear when he spoke next, “You can monopolize as much of my time as you want.” As if to punctuate his words, he nipped at the older man’s earlobe before pulling back just enough to make eye contact.
Royston suppressed a shiver, but he couldn’t help the quick intake of breath. This would likely be the end of him. There was a niggling moment of fear, where he considered if this was a good idea for both of them. But it was replaced by a desire to kiss Justin. He was barely that far away and it felt like the only response. Justin hdn’t given him any reason to suggest he wouldn’t be okay with it. “I’ll keep that in mind,” was all he said before leaning in the kiss him.
Justin had been wanting to kiss Royston for awhile now and he didn’t waste a moment in returning the kiss once it was initiated; his hand moving from Royston’s to his cheek, which he cupped as he pressed his tongue against the other man’s lips, seeking entrance.
The kiss was being returned, which only solidified the fact that Justin very clearly did not mind that he’d been kissed in the first place. He felt like his chest was expanding just a little and he pulled the other man against his body as opened his mouth, letting his tongue meet with Justin’s.
Justin didn’t mind the kiss in the least and as if to reassure Royston, he moaned into the actor’s mouth as they deepened the kiss. As they kissed, Justin’s hand that wasn’t cupping Royston’s cheek, slid down to Royston’s chest as his hips pressed forward, another moan escaping Justin’s mouth in the process.
This would probably be the death of him. Or at the very least it would lead him down a path he hadn’t planned on traveling when he woke up that morning. But now that he was on it, he wasn’t sure if he could stop himself or if he wanted to. Especially not with Justin’s body pressed against him the way it was now. He made a small noise, hands running across his back and up along his sides. He’d mostly forgotten the fact that they were supposed to be dancing. It was a few moments before he pulled back for air. He stayed close, smirking as he looked over at Justin. “I could get used to that.”
A grin slid across Justin’s kiss swollen lips as he gazed up at Royston, “What’s stopping you?” He still had the overwhelming urge to kiss the other man again, but part of him wanted to wait and see if he’d initiate it again or do something else. As he continued staring at up Royston, his heart beating rapidly against his chest, Justin’s own hands also roamed over any part of the other man’s body that he could easily reach.
His smirk turned into a smile. “When you put it that way…” His gaze focused for a moment on Justin’s mouth, the desire to kiss him again still as strong as it had been a few minutes ago. That and a collection of other impulses were even more difficult to keep under control when he could feel Justin’s hands on his body. He put a hand on Justin’s face, leaning in to kiss him again.
Justin grinned against Royston’s mouth as he was kissed again and this time both of his hands slid down to squeeze the older man’s ass. This was definitely something that Justin had been thinking about since the first time they had met and he was extremely glad that Royston had agreed to come out with him that evening and judging by the way things were going, it was likely only going to get better.
