Shaw had to admit there were more bars and clubs around the county than she had thought there would be. She was having some fun visiting them all, she had a few favourites and some she’d been barred from for fighting. But this place was very different and she had a feeling she may be somewhat of a regular, if allowed of course. It was a little more upmarket than she was used to. But she’d put on her little black dress and come to see if she was acceptable enough to be a patron.
Kenya was perched behind the bar tonight, content in the current crowd. People were spending money on her girls, and her guys, and being polite about it. Drinks were flowing freely, and people were in a good mood. It made Kenya happy to see her patrons, and her employees, happy. She followed the path of the newcomer with a predator’s gaze before placing herself in the way. “Welcome to the Need/Want” she said sweetly.
“Oh uh hi” Shaw said when she came face to face with someone who must work here, “Thanks, it’s a pretty interesting place. Can’t honestly say I’ve ever been anywhere like it before” she said honestly.
Kenya’s smile became sweet and genuine. “That’s good to hear. I pride myself on the Need/Want being a little different than something people are used to” she smoothed a wrinkle out of her dress. “I’m Kenya, this is my place and if there’s anything I can do for you, let me know.”
“Well it’s definitely achieving that” Shaw said honestly, it was a classy place and obviously Kenya cared a lot about it, “I’m Shaw, it’s nice to meet you. So what do you recommend for a first timer?”
Kenya smiled at the woman. “A pleasure to meet you, Shaw. It depends on what you are looking for. To simply enjoy what the place brings visually, a spot along the wall over there gives you the best views of all the dancers.” she gestured to a slightly risen set of booths along the wall.
“That sounds good to me. Drinking and enjoying the view is always a good way to spend time” Shaw told her, and that way she’d be able to observe everybody too. Get a feel for the clientele, workers and how the place worked overall.
“What can we get you to drink?” she asked after a moment, gesturing for Shaw to follow her as she wove her way to the booths. She offered the woman a good seat and canted her head. “I agree, but I get to do it every night, So I am a bit biased.”
“Whiskey?” Shaw requested, following Kenya to the spot she recommended, “I’d like that kind of job” she told her with a smirk, “I’d never complain about working again”
Kenya laughed as she waved a hand towards the bar and giving a call for a whiskey. “Oh it’s not nearly as nice as it sounds. I’m responsible for everyone’s safety, client and employee alike, so watching doesn’t let me get distracted anymore, I just keep tabs on everyone.”
Shaw actually laughed then, “Sounds even more like my kind of job. Watching people and anticipating behaviours I mean” she explained, it wasn’t so much safety she focused on as the opportunity to beat up anybody who caused trouble.
“Is that so?” she asked as the server brought over the whiskey and set it before Shaw. “If you ever need a job do let me know. I do like to ensure the safety of my employees, if that means someone gets thrown on their ass outside then that’s what happens.”
“Thanks” Shaw said with a nod to the server, she may be a sociopath but she was a polite one. Sometimes. “Yeah? Might just take you up on that sometime. Sounds like a gig I’d be good at, never afraid to put someone on their ass”
“Doesn’t hurt to have more useful associates around.” and she? She was a survivor. That meant she could be just as cruel as Nikolai but as sweet as sugar if necessary. “Only have a few rules here that really matter.” a slight shrug of her shoulder.
“I can safely say I’m useful” Shaw said smirking, there was definitely no doubt in that area. “Yeah? We should talk more sometime”
She smiled softly at her. “We should yes, I think we should.” she stretched lightly and tucked her hands behind her back. “Do enjoy this night, however, and I hope that you will come speak with me again. Is there anything that your tastes desire tonight, I can make sure it comes your way.”
“Thanks, I’ll make sure I do and I’ll let you know. For now I’m pretty happy enjoying checking everything out” Shaw smirked as she gave Kenya a nod.
