It was so strange to think that it had been three years since they’d first started dating, so much had happened since then. And now they lived together and had settled into a relatively nice routine. They weren’t overly complicated people and luckily they didn’t get too caught up in the strangeness that seemed to overtake the county on a fairly regular basis.
When Jeremy had suggested going to the ball that Dorian and Vanessa were throwing Myrcella had very happily agreed. She knew Vanessa through working at the bookstore where the older woman was a regular visitor and the idea of going to something so grown up was very exciting.
She’d taken one of her dream dresses and altered it to look a little more fitting for a ball and paired it with the right shoes and purse. “Isn’t it amazing?” she commented as they arrived at Dorian’s home.
Jeremy also couldn’t quite believe that they had been dating for three years now. He’d just started his senior year or high school, not long after his parents had died when they’d started dating and he could honestly say that Myrcella had helped him more than she knew. Without here, he didn’t know what would have happened to him during the whole thing with Elena and Damon, but he knew he would have been even worse off.
When he’d heard about the masquerade ball, Jeremy had thought it would be a fun way to celebrate their anniversary instead of having dinner at home or going out. Considering it was Halloween most places they went would be crowded with people in costume so this seemed like the best idea. Jeremy had never been to a masquerade ball in the waking world, but he had in the dreams so he knew what to expect. “It really is. I wasn’t expecting it to be this extravagant.”
Myrcella was ridiculously happy with Jeremy, she honestly couldn’t imagine her life without him. They’d been there for each other through a lot and she liked to think they were each others soul mates. Romantic but then she was inclined to be.
“I’m glad we dressed up properly” she grinned over at him, their masks clutched in her hand with her purse, while her other was in his hand.
“I guess it helps that I went to one like this before in my dreams.” His tux was very similar to the one he’d worn in the dreams, but unlike in the dreams he didn’t have to worry about Elena while Stefan and Damon tried to kill Katherine so he could actually enjoy himself and the fact that it was their anniversary, Jeremy was determined to enjoy himself, “Should we put on our masks before we go into the ballroom?”
“Definitely handy” she agreed, the parties Myrcella had attended in her dreams were very different. Much older in style but thankfully her dress worked here. “Good idea” she said handing him his mask before putting her own on, “Okay?” she asked.
Jeremy took his mask from Myrcella and tied it on before checking Myrcella’s to make sure that it was in place. Once both masks were secured, Jeremy offered her his elbow, “Now let's get in there and see how rich people throw a party.” He glanced at his girlfriend, smirking.
Myrcella grinned as she slipped her hand around Jeremy’s arm, “Let’s have some fun”
Jeremy grinned back as he led the way inside, following other party goers as well as staff who ushered them all towards the ballroom, “This place...not even Stefan and Damon’s place in the dreams was this big and they had a pretty big place.” Mystic Falls had been an old town with lots of big old houses, but this was a more modern mansion, clearly built with certain specifications. “I can only guess as to how many rooms this place has.”
“The places in my dreams are impressive but that was a whole other time. This is incredible” Myrcella said, “It’s huge and it all looks so well cared for. There must be servants right?” Because nobody could take care of a place like this on their own she was sure of it.
“You live in a palace, in your dreams, so I don’t know how much you can talk.” Jeremy smirked as they entered the ballroom where other guests were already milling about, getting drinks and some were already dancing, “Wow. Yeah, to do all of this, you definitely need servants.”
“Yeah but it’s more medieval in my dreams, nothing like this” Myrcella said, he did have a point though. And in fairness they had people at home who worked for them but she lived a much less opulent life with Jeremy and Irisa and she preferred it that way. “Oh how beautiful” she said as she caught sight of a large painting adorning one of the walls.
The portraits that adorned the walls were nothing like the pictures from Dorian’s dreams, but they complemented the ballroom nicely, “This is definitely the biggest house I’ve seen both in and out of the dreams.” Moving his arm to take Myrcella’s hand, he glanced around, “So, should we see if there’s anyone here that we know first or dance?” Sure they’d had events like this in his dreams, but they had never really had a chance to enjoy any of it cause there had always been some sense of danger around them during these events.
Myrcella thought the decor was beautiful, Dorian obviously had good taste which wasn’t all that much of a surprise really. “Dance” she said, squeezing his hand, “We can mingle later, right now I want to be twirled around this ballroom” she grinned.
Jeremy smiled back and leaned in to give Myrcella a kiss on the cheek, “Dancing it is then. I mean, I have to show you off so that everyone knows that I have the hottest date here.”
Myrcella smiled, “Funny that's what I was going to say” she told him before he took her in his arms and they began to dance.
