"Alak!" Jill smiled delightedly upon seeing him. She stood up, and then suddenly realized she didn't know if she was supposed to hug him or kiss him or shake his hand, so she settled for waving vaguely at the free chair at the table before sitting down again. Damn her lack of experience with boy-shaped people!
She smiled nervously to cover her anxiety. "Alak, this is Rose, my cousin." As usual, she felt a twinge of guilt over the lie. "Rose, this is Alak. Who I was telling you about."
She turned puppy dog eyes on her bodyguard, a mute appeal to like the boy.
