Who: Baby Firefly and OPEN
What: Baby's taking a stroll around Ikea to see if they have anything she might want.
When: Friday, November 4th
Where: Ikea
Rating/Warnings: TBD/Language for sure since it's Baby.
Status: Open

There wasn't a lot of things that were needed for the new house. Baby did, however, think that they needed some new light fixtures in the bedroom or at least a nicer lamp than the one that sat on the nightstand and in the corner of the room. Ikea was her first stop, if she didn't find anything she liked she figured she could head on to Lowe's or another home improvement store.

Either way, she was planning on buying something today, but she wasn't sure exactly what she wanted. As it was she found herself looking at the sofas, even though she didn't need one she couldn't help herself.

Her fingers brushed along the top of one sofa, and over the next faux-leather covered one. They were pretty nice, considering but she was happy with the couch in the living room and den for that matter. Baby turned on her heel, eyes still locked on one of the sofas not watching where she was going. She collided with another body, eyes going a bit wide at the sudden impact. "Shit!" Her voice was low enough not to carry throughout the store, but high enough for the other person to hear. "Sorry," she gave a pat to their arm, "I really didn't mean to bump into you." Her dream self would've reacted far differently, probably going as far as to blame the other person and plot their murder out in the parking lot. Baby tried to shake the thoughts from her head, but as her dreams progressed it was sometimes hard and she found herself wanting to slip back into old bad habits.

"Hey, it's fine. I wasn't really looking where I was going either."

It was the truth. Jimmy had been distracted looking for a replacement option for his bed. The one in his bedroom was becoming less and less and less comfortable for him to sleep one. He was finding it more appealing to think of something smaller, something he wouldn't notice contained himself and no one else. The more time he spent working on clearing up the things his mother had left behind for him, the more alone Jimmy felt.

A smaller bed wouldn't make him any less alone, but it would possibly make the bad dreams stop.

"I'm looking for something comfortable enough to sleep on while looking adult enough to invite company over without them realizing I am sleeping on it. You?"

Some people could be extremely rude when an accident occurred. Baby waited to see the guys reaction, so she could properly respond. He was nice enough about it to where she felt her shoulders relax a degree, the tension seemingly flowing from her body. "It happens." She shrugged, and then was about to step away when he spoke again.

She canted her head to the side, eyes darting over to where the beds were. The California King that they'd gotten for their place had been ordered from a nicer furniture store. It wasn't as if the furniture here was bad per se, but they hadn't had what she'd wanted.

"Don't blame you. A bed is the great foundation to the day." She offered him a sly smile, "At least that's the bullshit they fed me when me and my guy went to pick out a bed. I'm here looking for lamps. I just liked the look of that one sofa even if we don't need it. I just like...window shopping, I guess you could say."

Jimmy loved the smile on her face. It spoke volumes of the kind of woman she was when she wasn't out in public 'window shopping.' He wondered if he'd ever meet a girl who'd smile at him like that. There was this uncertainty about how much 'normal' a guy of his kind could expect. Considering all he'd learned about his mother post-mortem? No way was Jimmy betting on any happy-ever-afters in his future.

"I got my bed through right of inheritance. I had no idea bed salesmen were the same as used car guys. Didn't see that coming, but it's not too surprising considering isn't this place all about the money, honey?"

He shrugged, "My Ma used to say that. Exactly that way. She was a trainwreck, but memorable. What kind of lamps do you need? Floor lamps or more tabletop guys for mood setting or whatever they call it?"

Jimmy didn't know why he wasn't moving on. They were strangers in a store shopping for totally separate homes. He supposed he was looking for any kind of human connection at this stage. Pathetic, but at least he could be honest about it.

With a laugh, Baby gave a small sideways tip of her head. "It's always about the money, honey. Especially when it comes to shopping." Among other things. In Baby's line of business it was also all about the money, the right amount could buy you almost anything that you wanted. Not that Baby partook in that any longer, but at one point and time any amount of money could've bought a portion of her time.

"I can understand that. My mother is a bit of a trainwreck herself." Momma Firefly was definitely something else, but Baby loved her nonetheless. "Both, actually. I'm looking for a floor lamp and some night stand lamps for the bedroom. Not that we need mood lighting in there, but I'd rather have the lamps than use the over head light all the time."

Baby didn't mind talking to new people. It seemed to happen a lot no matter where she went. "So you want some help picking out a bed?"

She had a great laugh. Jimmy felt as if she really found things funny instead of faking it the way a lot of women did in social situations or as if she was humoring him. Dumb guys fell for women humoring them all the time; a woman who looked like this one had to have dumb guys talking to her all the time.

"That'd be great, actually. I'm Jimmy," he offered a hand, "Jimmy Darling. I do know something about lighting too. My Ma was an actress. Or at least she tried really hard to be an actress which meant we were on a lot of sets. I picked up on the technical side of things. I work on small motors now. You? What kind of work are you in?"

There was a look to her which was very Hollywood, but her attitude was too open for the life. Jimmy was betting on something in public relations. She was pretty enough to catch attention which PR reps had to do in order to get the big clients. The down-to-Earth attitude was something they learned how to do from birth as far as he could tell.

"I'm betting PR."
